  • UPDATE. I am now an ambassador for Moto Camp Nerd. See my affiliate link below. For motorcyclecamping I'm using the Big Agnes Blacktail 2 Hotel tent , Air Core Ultra air mattress , and a Diamond Park 15 sleeping bag . I need a sleep system that can keep up with the rigors of the road (on and off road) and my ham-fisted ways with which I tend to treat my gear. Let me tell you why I'm sleeping with Big Agnes. This review video covers the what and the why I chose what I did. I hope you find the information your looking for to make an informed decision about your camping gear while you get ready for this season.
    This is my REVIEW of the Blacktail 2 Hotel bike packing tent, Air Core Ultra Insulated air mattress, and Diamond Park 15 sleeping bag , based on my experience of using these items over the course of thousands of miles of travel in the back country of the pnw .
    I purchased all of my Big Agnes gear from

    The amount of people that sleep with Big Agnes, she sure gets around!

    I have the sleep pad and the hotel but there's no way I'm fitting my triumph thunderbird storm under that thing 😂but that's ok because it's still an awesome tent and pad. Ithaca extra space for gear is awesome. I'll just cover my bike with normal cover.

    Man, I wish they sold that bike pack bag separately. So much better than the bag that comes with the non bike pack version.

    Probably going to have to go to a Giant Loop Coyote this year. Outgrowing my Mojaves and a small duffel. Needing more creature comforts in my old age!

    The roof vents on this tent are gold, we put out a lot of moisture when we exhale.

    Damn man. I want all of it. I have some ok gear, but I don't think I camp enough yet to make it worthwhile. Looks like I need to get out and fail a couple times to figure out that the gear needs to be better.
    Thanks for being so thorough with each product.

    That is the one thing I like about my kelty late start 2 tent. The bag has the shark mouth opening to just stuff everything in. I can put everything in there... tent, footprint, poles, stakes, and pillow in. I would LOVE to get the diamond park series sleep system tho.

    Great looking tent. I’m using the Kelty Grand Mesa. Another great tent but it’s small. It has a vestibule but nothing like the Big Agnes’s. After watching your videos and others, I bought the same sleep system. It’s awesome. Highly recommend it

    I can't stand mummy bags either. I use a down quilt and insulated pad, same theory as your system. I like the room and versatility of not being stuck in a bag.

    Big Agnes is quality gear. My daughter used a Big Agnes tent while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Good choice in gear and a very informative video. Thanks! I like your shirt but it looks like you will need a new wardrobe to match you new channel name.😊

    Great informative video, Travis! I recently got the Diamond Park 15 and the Big Agnes Q Core Deluxe, both from Moto Camp Nerd. Love the setup with the "fitted sheet" on the bottom, encasing the pad. Will be taking these on all my summer and fall moto adventures!

    Side note, I got 209 camps out of my first big agnes and found the way to put it away it is a stuff sack.
    I stuff the rain fly in and then the tent and the no even stiff the rain fly all in the bag.
    I believe Amanda does the same.
    Just my little tip, just be conscious of placing the plastic parts smartly as you stuff it.
    Hope that helps and again GREAT VIDEO!!!!

    I never have any trouble rolling my pad up and getting it back in the bag...I even have extra room for my inflatable pillow in the bag with it.

    Sleeping bag looks big when packed. Like the tent. I use a klymit static v insulated extra wide.

    • @ExploreAdventureMoto
      @ExploreAdventureMoto  Před 2 lety +2

      The bag is a bit larger than some. In the video I did not have it cinched down in the compression sack. Cinched down it can get ALOT smaller, just don’t like doing it if I don’t have to for a trip. Can damage the fill over time and it will prematurely loose some of its insulation properties. Synthetic or natural fill bags will have this happen if not cared for.

  • @tennyis28
    @tennyis28 Před 2 lety

    I’m not crazy about the big agnes bags, while they claim the insulation on the bottom does nothing it’s not actually true. The bag will sink down into the baffles of the pad and allow the insulation on the bottom of the bag to work properly. I switched this year to Marmot bag of the same temp rating and it is much warmer. Just wish it was a bit more roomy like the big agnes bags are!

    Depending on pannier and luggage set up, it may help to just stuff the individual tent pieces directly in the pannier. Or it may not be easier. I know some motocampers that do this.

      Had I got the 0 yes. On warmer nights I would just unzip and open it up. Having the one I do, I Havnt found a night yet where I felt really cold, down into the very low 30’s even so I have no plans to get a 0
