    This is one of the reasons why they built all those New American Football Stadiums, knowing that someday after the 1994 World Cup, that they would have another opportunity to Host, or in this case, Co-Host the World Cup.
    Let’s hope that when it comes to 2026, there’s a lot more Peace & Prosperity around the World, which is gonna be a Monstrous & nearly Impossible Challenge.

    1994 World cup revenue & attendance in US totally crushed it & broke the record for the time it was just 24 team participated. I must say it's pretty successful. Still have highest attendance in WC history compare to even the rest of World Cup with 32 nation participants.

  • @hmdwgf

    Foxboro Stadium and Giants Stadium were demolished and their much more modern replacements, Gillette Stadium and MetLife Stadium were built in the former parking lots next to them. The Pontiac Silverdome, which was way out in ths suburbs was demolished while Ford Field was built in downtown Detroit, and RFK stadium is in disrepair and is slated for demolition next year; with the Commanders NFL team likely changing hands soon they might build a new stadium on the site of the old one.
    The Cotton Bowl as you can see was greatly expanded, Stanford Stadium was greatly reduced, Soldier Field was completely remodeled and the bottom section of the Citrus Bowl- the worst stadium of the lot (just ahead of Foxboro Stadium) was renovated, and it’s still a crap stadium. And the Rose Bowl is largely the same now as it was then.

    • @chipchiperson679
      @chipchiperson679 Před rokem

      The new soldier field looks terrible. Commanders should just moved back into RFK from FedExField since its in a lame area that doesn’t draw the Washington crowed

    • @hmdwgf
      @hmdwgf Před rokem

      @@chipchiperson679 RFK is being slated for deconstruction and eventually demolition by the end of 2023. RFK was a great design for its time but it is old, decrepit and should have been demolished years ago.
      FedExField is probably the most neglected NFL stadium ever. Dan Snyder is entirely at fault for DC not hosting WC games in 2026- aside from removing seats he never touched the stadium- never updated it, barely ever fixed it, even when a sewage pipe burst during a game. The sooner the Commanders are sold (which is probably soon), the better. They could build a new stadium on the grounds of the old RFK.
      Apparently the Bears want to leave Soldier Field and go into the suburbs with a whole new venue. Let's see how that pans out.

    • @chipchiperson679
      @chipchiperson679 Před rokem

      @@hmdwgf no that’s not true look at Lambeau Field or arrow heads updates showing a whole stadium doesn’t have to be torn down but only updates are needed. Misguided owners, and local municipalities make the mistake of forecasting new stadiums with bigger mall like indoor concession areas and more luxury boxes will produce greater revenue but the return on investment is minimal to none.

    The RFK Memorial stadium no longer exists. It was demolished a few years back.
    I hope to god that the Rose Bowl isn't among the stadiums hosting the 2026 World Cup, as it's extremely dated, has few modern facilities, and as a venue is wholly unsuitable for football (soccer).
    The fans are too far away from the pitch, and the stadium's stands aren't pitched steeply enough to make good viewing. It's basically an athletics Stadium which is now only used to hold rock and pop concerts.
    It shouldn't even be considered.

      @@nicholovestadiums6443 ....I didn't know either. The RFK stadium has been 'about' to be demolished for years now. Does anyone use it? Don't DC United play their home games elsewhere now? ...and the Redskins obviously play at FedEx Field. So who actually uses it? ...other than UCLA teams.
      Re: the Rose Bowl - it wouldn't meet strict FIFA criteria for World Cup stadiums now, as it doesn't have enough modern facilities.
      It may well be fine for UCLA matches, but the World Cup is on a different level altogether. Does it even have an electronic scoreboard? ....I know it doesn't have a large HD screen. Plus the dressing (changing) rooms won't be up to the required standard for elite football (soccer) players, and the fan facilities are also pretty basic.
      It may have been fine back in 1994, but the game has changed enormously since then, and so has stadium technology.

    There were a lot better stadiums that the US could’ve picked in the 94 World Cup such as Joe Robbie stadium or whats now known as the Hard Rock stadium instead of the Citrus Bowl. The new Orleans Super Dome or Georgia dome could have hosted instead of the Silver Dome and Would have bought a more interesting local environment rather than dilapidated ghetto Detroit. Foxboro was one of the worst outdated NFL stadiums at the time and they could have put the games in the Buffalo Bills stadiums instead which had a higher capacity and better accommodations. Cotton Bowl was yet another another antiquated stadium instead of cowboy stadium or the Astrodome which was a better representation of a modern stadium in that region. Stanford Stadium made no sense, Why not bring the game to the Seattle Kingdome which once again wasn’t antiquated and a better representation of the modern American stadium.
    They hosted this world cup in a college football bowl format which didn’t properly represent the modern NFL stadiums that would’ve shown the US’s advanced stadium architecture. Looks like they learned their lesson in 2026 as The US is hosting the games in all the newer NFL stadiums
