    Hi to everyone, I hope you're having a happy December. A question came to mind...What about True Warm Seasons with silver hair, wouldn't they have a version of silver? Although I haven't tried a range of silvers with True Springs and Autumns, I might suggest the warmest silver from the tones in the hair that also looks great with the palette grays, which might be tricky to choose (or find!) Hair colour is only a partial representation of our colours and the more important colours for harmonizing apparel, meaning our skin and eye colours, and therefore our clothing and cosmetics, remain the same when hair silvers. With gold being so easy, I would forget silver and focus on gorgeous golds, coloured stones, and beautiful shine. Please don't hesitate with any other questions!

      First I just want to tell you that I've been reading your blog for what I think must be over ten years, and I have learned so much! You have such an sharp eye and a lovely poetic way of expressing things. Thank you so much Christine!
      Regarding the warm seasons and silver hair... It might be difficult to find, but I could imagine that gold metal jewelry set with stones that have a silvery sheen to them could be an interesting way to connect to both their silver hair and their colours... for instance, what about a warm tone opal, or a moonstone, or mother of pearl set in a yellow gold jewelry for spring? ... Or better yet, a clear slightly warm crystal such as rutilated quartz set in gold?
      For true autumn, some sort of raw geode crystal with warmed silver glints in it set in a bronzy brushed gold?

      Thank you for being with me on the journey :) I often think of my website and other ventures as me trying to explain this miracle of human colouring and how we understand it to myself.
      I loved your ideas for silver hair on True Warm Seasons. The gold setting with the silvery glint in the stone is brilliant. Opal and moonstone for Springs, easy to imagine and not so hard to find. I looked up rutilated quartz, a fantastic stone!! I was truly impressed. Geodes are fantastic as well, and they sometimes have those gorgeous graduated colours that give an impression of coolness (like the silver hair colours of Warm Seasons). They also have that near-far effect that expresses distance, another beautiful way to imply coolness by distance without being actually cool. Such fabulous suggestions, thank you on behalf of all of us!

These ideas reminded me of a jewelry designer named Ilias Lalounis, I just happened to find a big book of his collection once and was completely enchanted by it. So beautiful, many pieces are like treasure found in a pyramid, with Grecian overtones, perhaps the dramatic gold pieces you mention, almost hard to imagine who might wear them, they seem worthy of the scale of pyramids. And other pieces are very unique and striking, the crystal with gold, as you mentioned. Thank you for sharing his vision :)

    What a fun one. Seeing the comparisons between color groups always makes it so much easier to understand. I was draped as soft summer and just switched from black eyeglass frames to a thundercloud grey. Thanks so much! Silver can be so neutral and colourless that I hoped comparisons would help rather than confuse. The map is something colour analysts and their clients have nearby during the analysis and I'm glad helped you stay oriented within the 12 Seasons, thank you for mentioning that. The sea monster ring is indeed fabulous, the way the shapes are swirly like it's underwater and how it's protecting that stone. If it walked in a room, I'd have trouble taking my eyes off it...or if I were wearing it myself!

    Cool seasons wear silver, warm wear gold is such an oversimplification. The quality and effect of summer silver and winter silver is very different in your examples.

      I'm happy to know the differences in metals came across in the video, thank you for that. Yes to admiring our opposite, I guess the trick is admire without acting. A personal challenge is stepping into both sides of ourselves, because I find most of us are like two people in one. For example, I'm much better with my matrix side than the transcendent, though I can look at pictures of me and see the imbalance. Enough to keep us occupied and leave our opposite alone.

    Your examples of silver jewellery that suit the various seasons were so stunning, and your suggestions for Dark Winters validated what I've recently noticed, that bright icy silver pieces of jewelry didn't suit me, a DW myself, as much as pieces which had a darker-hued silver. Another conclusion I've come to is that I can wear gold jewelry as well, in small doses, like pendants or earrings with mixed metals, both silver and gold, or with bold, deep, high contrast colored stones or enamel mixed in with the gold. And if I wear gold on its own, it has to be a rose-gold or burnished, antique gold. No yellow-gold jewellery for me, as they make me look sallow. Anyway, loved this video, and I'm off to check our your other videos. Hoping you've put out a similar vid but for gold jewellery instead, that best suit different seasons. 👍

      Your instincts for choosing jewelry sounds beautiful and your observations are like mine. 'Average' silver can be just fine, meaning no particular colour and 'average' shine level, though more Season-specific choices can look more interesting. • @ChristineScaman
      @ChristineScaman  Před rokem +1

      Absolutely, that pink bubble ring could work well for BSp. Often the decision isn't only about a particular colour but how it works with the other colours. The idea of movement is a built-in with Spring colours to large degree and the amount added in colour combinations, accessories, and style depends on the person and occasion. Some Spring people have a busy energy, others feel more floaty or meditative, plenty of variations in every Season that can be expressed in many ways. Might be fun when you shop to think in terms of who's going to be wearing the items, which you probably do already instinctively but it's a fun awareness to apply to what we choose what we wear :)

      There is alot of ultra-feminine, beautiful, ornate antique jewelry available for the dark seasons! Marcasite jewelry could be a great option, it combines silver with the bronze colour of fool's gold. Dark autumn could go for a more tarnished version with a warm stone, whereas dark winter could do a slightly more polished marcasite set with amethysts, saphires, or cooler garnets.

Style seasons I know of are based on combinations of sharp and soft, Yang and Ying. How to combine the opposite feeling shapes and seasons to flatter the person? For example, extreme extreme sharp Yang shaped person, that requires sharpness and contrast with Light Spring colouring that requires fairytale colours, movement and has a very low contrast? • @ChristineScaman
      @ChristineScaman  Před rokem +3

      That's a great question and probably one better answered by a line or style analyst. Princess Diana also came to mind, who may have been a Light Season and had a body type with certain Yang features. I imagine that the answer might sometimes be in scale, meaning take the shape ideas of the Season and make them bigger. Overall, I prefer when jewelry respects body type over Season shape traditions. Traditions are like patterns, general ideas that have been averaged across all the people, that may apply in some way to everyone but we pick and choose the pieces we use. Might be just the colour of the metal and type of shine, leaving shape and scale to be determined by body type. Might be to repeat a feature of the body that has crossover into colouring, like Diana's eye shape or for another person, the texture of hair. The great thing about silver and gold is they come in every shape and colour and each Season has several versions they wear well.

    Thanks Christine ~ I have trouble determining whether I’m cool neutral or warm neutral. Some people say I look brighter in yellow gold and silver looks sickly and others say silver looks like a part of me and yellow gold sits on top. I go round in circles! I even dither about soft vs bright for me and end up giving up. One analyst told me I can wear both shiny silver and shiny yellow gold too rather than brushed or rustic looking jewellery. I do know I suit a more relaxed draped fluid earring vs a round static one. Those jingle dot earrings you showed for light spring are perfect I think. I also suit freshwater pearls.
    p.s. would you agree that the wrong metal looks cheap on a person and the correct metal looks more expensive?

    • @ChristineScaman
      @ChristineScaman  Před rokem +2

      Identifying the Season between adjacent Neutral groups can be challenging, for all 4 pairs of Neutrals. I wouldn't be able to do it with metals or makeup, I'd need an excellent set of drapes. It's great that you've noticed some features of jewelry that work well, both in shape and colour. They might be starting point to try different colours and styles that align with those, maybe from the Light Seasons in the video.
      I see a more harmonious metal looking more expensive, whereas a less harmonious metal can look different ways, inexpensive is one, or very expensive but overbearing like it's showing off and ignoring the person wearing it. We expect jewelry to be ornamental and depending on the person, cartoon effects, fantasy, drama, large scale, they can all be great, but I enjoy jewelry most when it is in step with the person.

    Thank you very much for this video! Would you, analogically, make a video about gold? It really helps to distinguish warmer and cooler silver despite the fact it is always associated with cool toned material.
    My impressions on the silvers:
    True Winter - static, serious, official, corporate, icy;
    Bright Winter - less static, more sparkling, energetic, still somewhat icy;
    Bright Spring - less static than winter silver, not icy any more, more fantasy-like, sparkling, energetic;
    True Summer - light, delicate, subtle, like a raindrop, Light Seasons: ethereal, subtle, luminous (especially Light Spring), marine, mermaid-like (especially Light Summer);
    Soft Summer - elegant, modest, retro, classic;
    Soft Autumn - vintage, a bit Fairytale-like, more earthy, retro;
    Dark Winter - sharp, royal, with some definition;
    Dark Autumn - earthy, volcano, windy, rebellious.

If you had them in mind even before this video, that's great, I love that we all bring our own perceptions to colour. If these expressions came from the video, it may be worth mentioning that we only had a few images of what's possible for each group, in both colour and style, and some of these impressions might be interchangeable with other Seasons. I imagine that you had these words before the video, since some are original, perceptive, or interesting in ways that are new to me. For example, SA and fairytale or DA and windy, both brilliant. Hi :) Thank you for mentioning that the videos have helped your understanding of colour and feel inspired about it. To answer your question, a watch would be an item to keep if you love it. I'm a believer in keeping all your pre-PCA items until you're very sure of your new Season and comfortable choosing colours accurately. We often find items at the back of a closet that work quite well, or have some quality that works with our new Season, like the brightness in the watch, as you say. The item is small, not near the face, and you loved it for a reason. You could change the strap at some point or wear it alongside a gold or, turquoise, or rose gold bracelet. One day, when you are ready to replace it, if ever, that's fine but not until then.

    You said “winter gleams, and spring sparkles”. What do summer & autumn do?

      Well, that's a good question. Autumns glow. Summer....harder to capture in one word...they diffuse or disperse light, opposite of compact, sharp, or pointed, as if it's filtered, like that 'blurs imperfections' saying where light is scattered and softened...lustre? Is there a verb form of lustre, as in they ...?

      Thank you, so glad it provided it some answers. Gold is on the list of topics we'll cover, and you'll find some mention of gold in the video on the channel, Your Best Yellow. Your English is great :)

    I'm a Spring (not sure true or bright) and I wear light silver or platinum jewellery with spring color just like your bright spring top 3 choices. The bottom topaz/amber earrings I find the colour and the solid design too dense and heavy. It's sticky burnt honey.

      Great analogy with burnt honey. So true that we are individuals within our Seasons, with our own preferences in design, and colour too.

      From Google Translate: Very interesting and useful video - thank you! I have a question about silver alloys - what seasons can seed rose silver? And white gold (not sure if it's a mix of gold and silver or something else)? I would be very happy if you also make a video about the right type of gemstones for different seasons. I'm a soft summer and find it quite difficult to find jewelry with a stone that doesn't look too much on me. Thanks!
      > I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I'm imagine rose silver is like rose gold, replacing the gold with silver. I've seen this colour in fabric and I'm sure it exists in jewelry. The Season that would wear it well depends on the particular colour. In the fabrics I'm thinking of, True Summer could be great, and possibly Light Summer if the colour has a touch of warmth. I know of variations for Dark Winter and True Winter as well but they're more like 'dark silver with a touch of red-purple', too dark and steely to be called rose.
      White gold would be similar to silver, with the Season depending on the particular colour of the metal, and the same guidelines for deciding.
      I would love to make a video about gemstones. I don't know a lot about them but would enjoy the chance to learn. We have viewers who know a lot about them and could share some lovely ideas. Thank you for the suggestion :)
