    Hi Richard, Like you I set up feeding stations and a bird bath on my deck behind the house. At first it was slow going but the word has gotten out and we have birds galore. At one point this summer I had 5 Northern flickers on my deck. In the wild I have never seen more then 1 or 2 in a day. I get hairy woodpeckers and the street gang of about a dozen Magpies about once a week. It has become very entertaining watching and photographing them all.

      Thanks for watching Mark, it does take time but like you say once they find out where there’s regular food! Boom, in they come, it’s a lovely way to spend a few hours close to home.
      The species you describe sound awesome, where are you located? Hairy woodpeckers, going to look that up. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Cheers Rich👍

    Hi Richard, very good video. I'm thinking of switching from Nikon in the next few months so your vlog was a good watch. Cheers, Steve.

      Hi Steve, thanks for watching mate! I’ve seen your latest video on the switch, I so wanted to leave a comment but that ‘can of worms’ phrase comes to mind, lol… people get very excited about switching brands! If you want a chat about canon mate give me a bell! Cheers R 👍

    Hi Richard. That was fairly tough conditions to be shooting in so a really good test on camera and lens. Might be a budget card but if it works ok you can never have enough cards. Thanks for sharing, cheers Keith

      @RichardBirchett  Před rokem +2

      Thanks Keith, have pushed it higher since and it struggles with the noise being pretty bad but, for the price and in the right conditions I'm happy! The card was good for the price but just a bit behind with Sandisk and others! Cheers as always my friend.😀

      Thanks Craig, it's a great spot and nice and close! It's not always important to chase the more desirable species and cups of tea and coffee close by is always a winner!! Cheers Rich 👍

    Hi Richard fantastic video i must admit I really do enjoy using my 70-200 f4 L, lens especially for red squirrels once they know hazel nuts where there laid out that was it, we were shooting at about 2 metres away from them in dense wood land, trying to find the happy medium where it wasn’t too noisy 😂, my wife was getting some fantastic results with her R10, fantastic video as always Richard thank for sharing it with us.Martyn

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  Před rokem

      Hi Martyn,
      That’s great to hear you also like your 70-200, is it the RF version? It obviously has focal length limitations but subjects up close it’s perfect and light weight. Noise is always a problem no matter what camera but recovery software available these days is so good when not overdone!
      Glad she’s getting on with the R10, great camera and nice & light. Thanks again Rich 👍

      Thanks very much indeed Malcolm really appreciate your comments. That's what I call it too, lol... Goonhilly is a great spot, although it can yield everything one day but nothing the next! So a bit hit and miss at times, still I love it up there and I can loose myself for an afternoon! Thanks again Richard 😀

    Afternoon Rich, may I ask if you used a second 27in iMac as your secondary monitor? If so how did you do it please? Thank you.

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  Před rokem +2

      Hi Robin, I used it standalone too but mainly as a second monitor which is really handy. I use a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and a 2 meter Thunderbolt 2 cable, it's a winner and helps my editing out no end. I can send you links if needed but they are available from Amazon. Quite expensive but worth it. Cheers R

    Question .. Are you able to delete images etc by specific Month /Date instead of clearing the whole card ? . On my Sony Bridge camera it was no bother . But with Canon it's next to impossible .
    Where you at farm as i noticed some chickens wandering when you were placing the bait on the tree stumps , I hope you took the lense cap off the camera ... i noticed it was still on ..And the images you take do they get published ? or they for a online wildlife website ?
    With the R7 in high ISO's you get more noise

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  Před rokem +1

      Hi Colin, I’m not sure but I will look into that, good question.
      It’s my house & we have 6 chickens, yes it was off when I started shooting, lol… that would be embarrassing, lol..
      The R7 noise is far higher than the R3, in good light at high ISO for action it’s fine when run through Topaz, in low light like forests, not so good to recover shadows etc!
      I work for a few magazine in the UK & abroad now and write in some columns too, all helps pay for kit. Thanks for watching R 👍

    • @Arkayem
      @Arkayem Před rokem +1

      You can delete by range (sort by date then select first and last image in the range) and by scene (if you shot with a high speed drive mode).

    Is the RF 70-200 F4 (!!!) anywhere usable or does it have any good reason to exist at all?
    I got for much less a 2nd hand EF 70-200 2.8, its not even an air pump!
    The EF 100-400 II are also often reasonable fair priced at 1000$/€ 2nd hand, and more and more very sharp and good EF L glass is.

      I use it for close up mammal shots and i'm happy with it, each to their own. Plus it's good for some Macro photography. Thanks for watching R 👍

      @WhistleBit Look...
      you are obviously a troll or you are just plain stupid with your "EF is designed for film and RF is designed for CMOS sensors" argument.
      I have a useful information for you if you wish:
      Get off the internet, finish the highschool and then probably get into something a bit before talking nonsense.
