Beautiful music!!! such mesmerizing work of art. Everything is an explosion of deep emotions evoked by the movements of the brush,..wonderful!
I agree. The music, composed and performed by Josh Harvey, shows exquisite harmony with the brush strokes. Thanks for noticing!

This is so exceptionally well done! Thank you for sharing your demo on CZcams. The brush definitely dances, and the ink is singing!

The secret is practice, so it sounds like you're well on your way! You may enjoy watching my weekly practice on facebook. I put up a lot of painting posts.
Stunning and inspiring... thanks for this.
Excellent! What a terrific effect to have on another artist! Enjoy painting!
My students start off on newsprint so they can practice the basic strokes without feeling they are 'wasting' paper. I do encourage them to move to practice rolls of (machine made) rice paper (Moon Palace, for instance) fairly quickly because they need to get used to the absorbency of rice paper. Not only that, but it is sad to create a good painting on newsprint, knowing that the paper will not last. I always practice on good, handmade rice paper for this reason.
Me encanta lo que hace Virginia... y cómo lo presenta con esta música!
Infinitas gracias por mostrarlo

Good morning Virginia.
Sorry for the bad english.
I really like your way of painting, classic and precise and for me you are a wonderful example to learn this art.
Can you help me find the right brushes or brushes? I do not know how to find them, and what name they have. Paper is also a problem.
For the colors I found only those Marie's
It's really important for me.Congratulations for your fantastic work
A hug.

thank so much!
Great !!
What type of papers do you use to practice paintings, as rice papers are not cheap.
Hi beautyful brush strokes could you tell me what type of brush you are using thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing! Very nice painting! Is it possible to share with us your technique to control the amount of water on that brush when you draw the rock?
Thanks for your comment, Amber. The joke in the Chinese painting world is that "too much water on the brush" and "not enough water on the brush" are the only problems you need to solve. It depends on your paper. Thicker paper will prevent bleeding (double xuan, for instance). Also, load your brush with grey and black and test it on scrap paper before attempting your rock. Good luck! My blog at joyfulbrush has more tips on how to use the brushes and select the paper.
bro, i love it
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! You can watch more of my videos on my blog joyfulbrush

+Vi Đoàn Thanks! You might also enjoy my blog at joyfulbrush dot com. I have more videos there.
yes ^_^ i love it!
How to receive your DVD .? Or books. Jeanie Milho
You do very nice work but you should let people know what type brushes you use and the kind of paper . It looks like a wolf hair brush..
I order most of my brushes from oriental art supply or blue heron arts. Their brushes are good quality and they explain the 'soft' and 'hard' brushes. They are all handmade & they don't have numbers on them. For bamboo and leaves I would recommend the bamboo/orchid brush, which is hard bristle. For flowers, a 'basic soft' or 'flow' brush works well. If you go to my facebook painting page, which is VirginiaLloydDavies, you'll see what I'm working on every week. I usually mention what brushes and papers I am using.
I see the ink dry immediately. How is possible?
Actually it is still wet in the painting. It takes just a few minutes to dry. Because the paper is "raw", not sized, the colors and the ink penetrate the paper.
The paper is wet?
No, the paper is not wet when painting flowers. You can read more about when to wet the paper (usually when painting mist and clouds) in my book. Enjoy!
can you please describe the brushes you use?
Hello Gerardo! Thanks for commenting. I am using small soft and small hard bristle Chinese bamboo brushes for the flowers. I usually switch to a large hard bristle brush for the leaves. You can find an excellent selection on the web at orientalartsupply and blueheronarts. There are also several China-based and Hong Kong-based suppliers.
thanks a lot for this information, i think i will buy them online. Not easy to find in costa rica, i love your job
;)!!!
Thanks!
