→ Here it is, GTA V vs Watch Dogs. Side by side comparison between these two great games. Here, showing you the amazing graphics both of these games have and how realistic they look. The video shows you some part where I focused more on animation and other features, but mostly the graphics.
Which one do you think looks better?
0:08 The Water: The water in Watch Dogs looks better in my opinion. However, the water in GTA V has more animation, thus making it look more realistic.
1:42 Explosion Near Objects: I don't have a lot to say about this for both games. They both seems to have great animation when it comes to explosions around objects or any other "thing".
2:47 Vehicle Explosion: I think Watch Dogs wins on this one. Why? If you look at the video, the car does not explode from the first bomb. It took two more bombs to explode the car. This makes it more realistic since some cars in the real world does not explode instantly. They tend to take some damage and then explode. The animation and the graphics on both part of the video look awesome. The fire and the smoke makes it even more realistic.
3:53 Vehicle Graphics: They both look good. Although, in GTA V there are cars that look dirty and old, making the game feel like in real life. All cars in Watch Dogs look great and clean. The video also shows you some damage integrate to the cars, where you can see the animations and the realism these vehicle have.
5:52 The Ambient: I don't have a lot to say about this since they both have their unique ambient. They both look good in their own perspective.
6:36 Lighting/Shadow: Again, they both look good. They both have their unique perspective when it comes to lighting and shadow.
8:43 The Rain: I like how the rain look in both games. I like how "ponds of water" are produced when raining. However, in GTA V the rain is so realistic that when you are in first person, it looks like if you're in the game. The perspective or the view of the rain in GTA V makes it so realistic that you can almost see the drops of rain clearly.
9:49 The City: This is where it gets interesting. Even though Watch Dogs doesn't have a great view of the city, GTA V wins on this one no matter what. You could be far from the city and it will still looks awesome. The city in GTA V is some awesome that it makes you feel like if you're in the game. In Watch Dogs, since there is more tall buildings, it reduces the realism of other "objects". It only makes you focus on those buildings instead of the houses.
12:11 First Person: On this part of the video, I used the first person mode while driving to show you around the city. The buildings, houses, cars, trees, roads, etc. You decide which one looks better. I prefer GTA V as it has more features.
16:38 Vehicle Physics: I can't decide which one is better, but what I know is that they both look realistic. The cars and trucks took damage, showing you missing parts and scratches, it makes the game feel more realistic. In the part where the vehicle are crashing with objects, you can see pieces of crystals coming at you and the objects interacting with the vehicles.

It's all about the storyline. RockStar Games actually had the storyline down with GTA IV, GTA V is just another generic game for people who don't have long attention spans.

For me both games are unique to each other, thus making them look realistic in their own ways.
WhatchDogs gain much more time in graphichs (even too much) but GTA has good graphichs and briliant made gameplay. Btw my english is rly bad but i understand every little word :).

But all in all GTAV has better Lightning/Shadoweffects and Reflections.
Partisane Olli Try modding watch dogs with a few good mods to make it resemble the e3 trailer and then compare the two again. It blows gta v out of the water, provided you have the horsepower to max the modded game out.

The water really looks good on both games, the water in watch dogs fits the very populated city, while the water in GTA V fits with it's own environment as well.

Both games have + and -. I remember WD screwed up headlights, not shining on roads on some surfaces, or areas 9:43, all those flashing objects, seems less fancy car detail, definitely lower distance scaling on vehicles and vehicle interior lighting, lightning effects are mehhh too.. But WD night artificial lighting support is much better made then gta5 8:06, can't just crank it up in gta5, placement is just not good enough compare to WD. Gta5 street lighting starts at 7pm on lamps emissive sources, but it takes full game hour for light to reach ground, lol. So much for light speed.
I would say gta5 would win in many counts, but WD has some step ups too, atmosphere is fantastic, like them both for sure.
GTA 5 city view is amazing, but walking around the city in watchdogs just feels relaxing

Watch Dogs is a LOT more realistic-looking than GTAV, but the GTAV game itself is much more fun to play, and driving is much more realistic in GTAV.
If you're for real, you must need glasses. Because Watch Dogs looks like shit compared to GTA V.

Thanks for this. GTA V has more detail. Like the roads, WD's roads are often very uniform unless you adjust the camera which isn't bad but when compared to V's various weathered and cracked roads/sidewalks it feels more alive. Both are great at what they're trying to recreate though neither are without flaws and "whats better" depends on what atmosphere one likes most.
Still I can only enjoy WD with SweetFx/various graphic mods at night and with the always raining mod but V on vanilla is great (though I wish I could use Reshade). V's rainy nights are just as enjoyable too, especially the lightning in the countryside.
Just remember that gta 5 came out way before watchdogs 2

To me personally it seems like Watch Dogs has better visuals, but GTA V is much more dynamic. I don't know if I'm making much sense, but just look at the effects, like the water for example, Watch Dogs' water is definitely prettier, but GTA V water is more life-like and it's animated really well. Same goes for other graphical effects. I also think the physics is better in GTA V

Exept for the fact that the cars in WD never flip over, and the jumpanimations are kind of odd.
Crystallking H actually, the cars do flip but the "weight" of the cars in watchdogs are much more realistics compared to the toys cars from GTA V. I'm not saying gta v has bad cars because it doesn't, they've got good cars but they just handle to light. The cars in watchdogs do flip over but barely thats because you don't see a car flipping over in real life everyday either.

But I've jumped a cuple of times with the cars in WD, and to be perfectly honest the jump kind of goes up, then straight forward for a while, and then just falls down on the ground.
That beeing said, it doesnt change the fact that I love the game tho.

Watchdogs has some prettier aesthetics, however, overall GTA V has the more realistic look.

Your graphics cards ability to run games. GTA V is literally as capable to play at GTA IV standards. Yet WD has the ability to actually demolish Graphics Cards if they haven't met required standards.

OneThreeGaming Those minor effects and details in Watch Dogs makes the game look really good.
Driving in watch dogs is utter shit, it feels like you're skating on ice with the car, the graphics delivered are not what were shown in the e3 gameplay as they have a hugeeee downgrade, the game is boring, unrealistic, glitchy, buggy, lacking in story, and overall has worse graphics than Gta V, the population density is quite shit, and the vehicle density is too, frankly i regret buying this game for PC since it's poorly optimized and is full of flaws. Gta has a better ambient, when you play you feel like you are inside the game, not some boring, full of clichès, thing. Im sorry it had to be said, this is my opinion and if you dislike it or are not ok with it that's up to you.

Character : watch dog is more interesting in character back story (coz ubisoft is the master when making story in game)
Anything else? Well i think both game is pretty good... every game has its own weakness and superiority... for example GTA V has more fun than watch dog, and watch dog has better graphic than gta V

To me, the only good thing about Watch_Dogs is the hacking.
However, I do think the dynamic lighting/rain/water of WD is better than GTA but GTA is an overall prettier game because of Rockstar's attention to detail.
Of course, I haven't liked Ubisoft since Assassin's Creed 3.

No Global Illumination,No volumetric Lighting,GTA 5 uses SSAO Ambient Occlusion that was made in 2007, while Watch Dogs usrs HBAO. GTA 5 has lower texture resolution, lower shadow resolution, no tessellation , no displacement mapping, at least 4 yimes less polygons,and shitty draw distance.
If GTA 5's graphics are beautiful,then AC Unity is real life,but it's not. And GTA 5's graphics are shit.
Seriously,even AC Black Flag is technologically much more advanced.

I don't see it. Most of the textures are just flat, the only textures that aren't flat don't use tessellation, AND in FPS mode you can clearly see polygons on all models.

In 4K especially I think GTA 5 is the better looking game. Also there's something about the art style and feel of Watch Dogs that makes it feel like a bootleg GTA.
