As a kid we would use a cane pole with a purcupine quill as a strike indicator, no resistance at all.
I still use them today !!!

That’s right fishing can been done at anytime.. I’ve been in heat, cold, windy, and rain to the point it doesn’t come down the wind pushes the rain sideways 😅 that was a day to remember winds speed 10-25 mph what a day 😅

Like down your way, things up here in WI have cooled off a little and the fish are putting on the feed bag. Walleye (our popular fish), sunnies (blue gill to most folks), and crappie and starting to school up in the shallower water and feeding heavy for this coming winter. Great video as always. Richard I just want to thank you for saving my butt. A couple years ago you mentioned that the minn kota trolling motor switches were bad about going out so I ordered one for my first tournament. Well it’s about two years old and I was prefishing for a tournament this past week and 1 and 2 speeds went out. So after dark I went to my camp site and changed it out while fighting a raccoon. The wind and the waves the next day sent me home with a back injury so I didn’t get to fish the tournament but had I made it and not listened to you it would’ve been difficult without the two low speeds so thank you very much for the tips.

Up north in Kentucky in Henry County we would stop at a little bait shop and buy tiny "Bear Hair Jigs"! With a wax worm it was a killer gill getter! L&N lake gave up a ton of em!

Looking forward to retirement so i can do exactly what you are doing. Nothing more relaxing than fishing.
I tie jigs and I make small flies with 1/8" and 5/32" brass beads on #10/12 hooks for my Gill baits. I use marabou on some of them,but the best ones they like has a couple small rubber legs.
I also ordered some floats of amazon that are maybe the size of a pea.
I've made some of these out of #8/10 circle hooks also that work real well and are fun to use as these barely weigh anything and they sink very very slowly...maybe 1' per 5/10 seconds if not longer. Just toss it out (no float) and let all the slack lay there and when they take it let them run till they run out of slack then the hook will do it's thing.

I love creek fishing with maribou jigs. Simple yet effective. Last time I was at Bass Pro smallest I could find was 1/32 I was wanting 1/64 but they didn’t have them. I bought a 10 pack of 1/32 all white and a 10 pack of 1/32 red/green/white. I have caught a lot of fish on them and still have enough to last awhile.

Somewhat, however bobbers are usually bigger or bulkier which is why this is called and indicator. Takes a lot less force to sink or move it
