Here's a fun fact about Rodin being in Smash: he asked for it.
In the Switch port of Bayo2 they added amiibo support to his shop. If you scan certain amiibo Rodin will claim she got a package in the mail. He makes references to Hyrule, Samus being a bounty hunter, the villages in animal crossing, ect. If you scan a Smash amiibo that is not tied to specific franchises he will claim she got a package from her "fight club". They will request that the next time she goes back to bring him along.
The Switch port of Bayo2 was released before the announcement of Ultimate. So him being an assist trophy is a direct callback to him asking her to bring him along next time she was invited.

I like to think Bayonetta and Kid Icarus are the only series where Smash Bros. is actually canon.
You forgot to mention this about Shadow. In Ultimate, he can freeze opposing players in place for a few seconds, giving you the opportunity for additional attacks.

You forgot to mention that the Metroid in Ultimate can actually get affected by a freeze attack (Ice Climbers, Sora, etc)
My personal favorite method is PK Freeze!
G&W's 8 and Hero's Kacrackle slash can also freeze opponents but idk if it can defeat a Metroid
Another thing about Guile sitting on Down-Back like he is, is it's also the most advantageous position for defense, as it allows you to block all incoming attacks except from the air (or flagged as 'overhead'), and makes high-aiming attacks miss entirely.
It also allows you to quickly punish any attackers with one of his special moves.
I remember my friend telling my brother and me that little mac would be in smash 4 when we were playing on a custom stage in brawl. As soon as he started talking about little mac’s low jumps, little mac somehow got stuck in a small hole and spent the rest of his life trying to jump out of it

the thing that's bullshit about little mac in smash is that in mike tysons punch out he literally jumps to punch his opponents because he doesn't match their height. not to mention the fact there's plenty of other characters in smash who aren't known for their jumping ability and still have functional aerials and recovery (link, fighting game characters, ness and lucas, star fox crew, i could go on)

Edit: ok actually, one slight correction about the Ray MK III. The character did return for Smash Ultimate, BUT they no longer appeared as an assist trophy and only appeared in Spirit and Mii Fighter forms

@@Tazerboy_10 that one IS Custom Robo Arena, as the Gamecube game was called Custom Robo: Battle Revolution in Japan, or just Custom Robo everywhere else. There’s only been five Custom Robo games and currently Arena is the final entry into the series, though there was a similar-ish game on the 3DS called LBX: Little Battlers Experience that shared Custom Robo’s custom mini robot mechanics, but it’s not the same series/franchise and has different gameplay

For Knuckles' three punch combo, it's actually closer to a move he uses in the Sonic Advance games, in that it's two jabs then a jumping uppercut.

Poor Isaac. I mean it's one thing to stay as an Assist Trophy each time, but it feels worse to get removed as an Assist in Smash 4, only to return with a few upgrades in Ultimate. It's not that I don't appreciate the upgrades, but it's not what I, or many fans of Isaac wanted. He's one of the last few Nintendo franchies not represented in Smash with a playable character. Gotta just hold out for Smash 6 I guess.

My favorite Assist Trophy is Zero, who was actually my most requested character for Ultimate before he was deconfirmed. Next to him though, Tiki is probably my second favorite.

Issac had more than enough Psynergy moves for an epic fighter in Smash! And the summon attack Judgement would be one heck of a Final Smash!
Modders seeing their favorite character is just an assist: "Fine, I guess I'll do it myself."
In an alternate universe we would have the assist characters as the main roster, and vise versa.
We get Waluigi, Shadow, and the rest, but loose out on Mario, Link, and the rest of them.
Sadly, that could be the case for a Smash Reboot down the line, particularly for Nintendo's next console.

Every time Elec Man fires his Thunder Beam, it fires in 3 directions: one up, one down, and one forward, much like the weapon functions for Mega Man in his home game. When he fires it on the ground, the downward shot just disappears, so it LOOKS like he's only firing 2 shots. I don't know where you got the one shot from though...

Weird thing, when Brawl first came out Tails was rumored to be an assist trophy who would fly around the stage and catch players that summoned him so they could get back on stage. However, by now, I can no longer find the source of said rumor. Only it was "seen at the E3 demo". Can ANYONE help me find that source again?

Should they DLC Assist Trophies be Added, then: Jack Frost, Goro Akechi or Caroline and Justine, Crono and Frog From Crono Trigger (Golem is also a good Alternative if it were Strictly Dragon Quest), Marco from Metal Slug, Ghast from Minecraft, Vincent and Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII, Jack-7 from Tekken, and Riku from the Kingdom Hearts series (Roxas if Riku gets announced as a Fighter should Sora stay in Smash.)
Should they add Another Xenoblade Chronicles Assist Trophy, then Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X.
For Banjo-Kazooie, I think Mumbo or Gruntilta would also be an Assist Trophy Either of the Two.

9:44 This is almost exactly wrong. Lyn is mission-critical every time she appears, if she loses all HP it's game over. I think you're getting this confused with every other player character in the tutorial/prologue story she's the main character of, all of whom can get KO'ed but will become playable again in the main story, something that hadn't happened before and has only happened since in specific one-chapter scenarios (not counting Casual difficulty), not a whole story arc.
Was playing Spirits and I noticied while playing Icies that you can freeze the Metroid.

Pretty sure Elec Man always shoots all three Thunder Beam bolts, it'd be pretty weird if the number of shots was variable since that has never been a mechanic with the boss or weapon. It may only look like 1 or 2 because two of the shots are vertical, so if he is on the ground the downwards shot will immediately get eaten by the floor, or if he were to shoot directly below a ceiling the upwards shot would get eaten by the ceiling. So the only way to actually see all three shots is if he shoots midair in open space, or maybe on a pass-through platform but I don't recall exactly how the shots interact with those.
In the Mega Man series proper, most attacks in the Classic games pass through terrain, so this isn't an issue. With Thunder Beam in particular its shots don't even get stopped when they hit an enemy, passing straight through them instead. Though in the Powered Up remake, terrain actually does absorb most attacks, so Thunder Beam's downwards and upwards shots are similarly limited there. This is pretty clearly not Powered Up Elec Man though, as that game used a very distinct chibi art style, the terrain projectile absorption is simply a result of Smash Bros mechanics.
Also, for Pac-Man ghosts, Inky also tries to move in front of Pac-Man like Pinky, but while Pinky's goal is a consistant distance in front of Pac-Man's position, Inky's goal has a variable distance based on how far away Blinky is from Pac-Man. If Blinky is close to Pac-Man, Inky's goal will be close to Pac-Man, but if Blinky is far away then Inky's goal will also be far away. Meanwhile, Clyde is not random. Instead, when far away from Pac-Man, Clyde's AI is essentially the same as Blinky's, going straight for Pac-Man. However, when Clyde gets close to Pac-Man his goal changes to be the bottom left corner of the maze. This is why taking out the bottom left corner first is typically a good idea, Clyde is the last ghost to leave the box at the center of the maze. If Clyde is active and you're in that bottom left corner then Clyde will be on top of you at all times. However, if you're in any other part of the maze then as soon as Clyde gets close he'll change his mind and go back off to his corner. Unless, of course, you have somehow ended up BETWEEN Clyde and the bottom left corner, in which case you'll need to do some extra maneuvering to get around him as he makes a beeline down there.

You finally got the Phazon Suit part right for Dark Samus so thank you for that. I'd like to see your source on how it also absorbed her DNA? I don't remember seeing them mention that in MP2 or MP3. Where did you see that it took her DNA along with her Phazon Suit?
Wasn't there a cutscene at the end of MP1 with Samus stepping on some Phazon ooze or something?
@@KanaIzumiya No, you're thinking of how she gets the Phazon Suit in Prime 1. After beating the Omega Pirate boss it falls ontop of Samus, liquifying & melting into her Gravity Suit which gives her the Phazon Suit. It's not a cutscene but Samus does have to step into Phazon pools crested by Metroid Prime's core in order to access the Phazon beam & damage Metroid Prime's final form at the end of the game.
Not sure where this guy gets Metroid Prime copying her DNA...it's just the Phazon Suit it stole at the end before the core blows up.

If you could add at least 5 new assist trophies, which would you choose? Here are my choices:
-Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes): he would use any of his 4 blades from NMH2 and lucha libre moves
-Geno (Super Mario RPG): he would shoot different types of bullets from his hand, finger or elbow, and boost his ally with extra attack and defense
-Eva (Metal Gear Solid 3): she would go on her motorcycle and run over the enemies like Wario's bike move. Also she can give a random weapon before leaving
-Mega Sceptile (Pokemon): it would appear and launch his tail tree like a rocket, dealing a massive explosion, like in the anime
-Gatekeeper (Fire Emblem Three Houses): he would use his Charging Horn to summon a gambit of different Fighters, and creating a stampede
Something tells me Mega Sceptile wouldn’t be an “assist trophy”, considering the lack of Pokémon that were mentioned in this video…

"Not popular enough" was never a factor for Snash characters. Nobody knew who Marth was when he was included, to the point that many people thought he was a Smash original, plus Roy and Corrin were added to promote tgeir games, they were added to get that popularity in the first place.
It could be debated for some of the other charas, but these are pretty good examples it's not popularity alone that gets you into Smash.

Reminder that FE is one of the most important Nintendo IPs of all time, in Japan it was really popular, and that make it to release it worldwide since FE7 (yep, FE GBA is the 7th game in the franchise) ;)

Yes, the GBA weren't the first in the series as a whole, but it was the first to make it outside of Japan, and that was AFTER Melee was released.
Most important IP? That is questionable, it was popular in Japan, but not really as much as other jrpgs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior or the MegaTen franchise. Then there's the fact that as you yourself noted, the 7th game in the series was the first one they bothered localising. And to top it all off, if you look at actual sales, the series didn't do that well until FE Awakening. So that's less a "reminder" and more a "questionable claim".
And of course, for all it's importance and popularity, it still doesn't change the fact that when Melee was first release, nobody outside of Japan had a clue who Marth was, to the point most of the Smash community thought he was an original chara, a blunder so silly it has a trope named after it.

I'm under the impression somebody might have already corrected you about this but I'm going to bring this up anyway. The Black Knight is not the main antagonist of fire emblem path of radiance. I forgot the name of this guy but he has an incredibly evil looking face with really scary evil music playing when he's on screen during cut scenes. There's a trophy of him in Super smash Bros brawl and he's riding a dragon on that trophy. You don't even fight the black knight in the final stage but you fight this guy in the final stage of fire emblem path of radiance, not to mention it's quite clear he is the leader of the bad guys in the game. The Black Knight in fact works for him

Still pains me to this day how dirty Dark Samus was done in Ultimate. She had a more unique moveset as an assist trophy, then was dumbed down to a Samus clone, and the worst of all, THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE HER THEME IN THE GAME

Here's the Smash Bros order, Smash 64 is Smash 1, Melee Smash 2, Brawl Smash 3, 3DS Smash 4, Wii U Smash 5, and Ultimate Smash 6. There are actually 6 Smash games not 5 since you count Smash 3DS and Wii U as separate games
