      African Movements ...I want to move there as well. I’m about to retire here in America. I will eventually open a business there, and a church ( actually, a Temple ). I know no one there, so I pretty much will have to deal with embassy, right? In hopes that I would meet someone who speaks English and would like to teach me Swahili.

    Finally, lol. Been waiting for this. Beautiful house. So inspired. Hmm, 800 bucks for 6 months, yet I'm in a one bedroom for $1200 per month? We are nothing but consumers and robots here in America.

      nadoop before you begin to compare the cost of housing between the two countries, don't forget to also compare the minimum wage.

    • @nadoop
      @nadoop Před 6 lety +15

      Min wage in FL where I live is $8.25. Average 1 bedroom in my area is $800-900 bucks. In NJ where I grew up, the min wage is $8.60, and the average 1 bedroom is about $1200. On top of that, food, fuel prices, utility is are expensive.

    • @OnyiiBazz
      @OnyiiBazz Před 6 lety +3

      nadoop hmm. But then, in some African countries, min wage can be as low as $1 or even less.

    • @nadoop
      @nadoop Před 6 lety +22

      Sure, but if you are an expat, you should be fine. I am speaking from an expat point of view. And still America has a high rate of homelessness due to the rise in housing cost - something that is not prominent in the so-called third world.

    • @DevonahBlackwellT.I.
      @DevonahBlackwellT.I. Před 6 lety +18

      Not if you work online or teach English like a lot of expats do. Digital nomads or being able to work online is the wave of the future I think. And they are always looking for native English speakers, especially in SE Asia and places like China where they pay decent money. If you are a certified teacher you make even more and there are many more opportunities, and the cost of living is WAY cheaper. And there is also the opportunity to start your own businesses, like import/export overseas. Like the Sistah said, you are nothing but debt slaves in the US..paying over $20k per man, woman & child to Israel and for military spending to bomb God knows who else next. The planet is huge and there are all kinds of interesting experiences awaiting. People just have to stop being so scary. Life is for the living.

My apartment in Kenya costed the same and had those ceilings, but there was no flooring, no fridge or hot water. But the water used to get heated later on in the day since the tank was on the roof. 😄 The difference in Kenya is that you pay one month rent, one month deposit. The furniture is so nice as well. Good luck on your job search. If you have even an AA degree, you could leave the country too and teach English as a 2nd language. It's in S. Korea though, but it's a government sponsored program where they recruit native English speakers to teach in public schools. It's called EPIK, I think. If you have a BA, you can pretty much go anywhere in SE Asia and make a decent living...b/c the cost of living is so much cheaper than the US. You also need to get an ESL Certification but you can get one of those (over 120 hours) for cheap on GroupOn so I've read. So people who are really interested in leaving the States, it is not some pipe dream or impossibility. You can even attend distance courses or online courses with accredited US universities while overseas. I'm doing it now.

      You're wrong. Shea butter is also made from East Africa. Shea trees grow very well in some parts East Africa. You should know that almost every crop that grows in West Africa can grow in East Africa. The soil in East Africa is very fertile compared to West Africa. Cocoa, palm trees, plantain...are grown in East Africa. In fact no country/region grows more banana/plantain in the world than Uganda/East Africa, except India.

    When it comes to Black american CZcamsrs living in Africa, you are hands down one of my favorites.
    I love the glimpses you give us into daily life, shopping, and the overall culture. You’re real, honest and refreshing. I also love how you’ve integrated into the culture yet you have a strong sense of who YOU are as an individual. Really inspiring.

      As far as I know Tanzania does not have seasons. The climate remains constant throughout the year

      From what I’ve experienced they definitely have a rainy season which most consider their “winter”. Depending on the region, it can get pretty cold. Up here in Arusha at night it can drop as low as 45degrees.
