this was LONG overdue...when you run across these black female vocalists, that have something important to say, like a Mary J or Jill Scott or Erykah Badu or Lauryn Hill. Just know that, the name of the "waymaker" for them, was Nina Simone. I saw Nina Simone, live in concert a few yrs before she died...at Constitution Hall in Wash, DC. It was a mindblowing privilege...I'll never forget it.
It's unbelievable they waited this long !!!! Nina was arguably the greatest popular music pianist of the 20th century !

Ne me quite pas sung by Nina Simone is one of the best renditions of the song. There will never be anybody like Nina Simone. I continue to grieve her loss. I don’t think America ever fully realized the genius of Simone. I had the privilege of seeing her 2 times in my life. First time she played a twenty minute song, gotta standing ovation and never returned to the stage. She wore a mink stole and there was no expression on her face when she received her ovations. Even with that she was truly amazing.
