  • Probably one of the best re-composed versions of the Arthur Theme. Aranged by Rick Wakeman, Composed by David Lowe
    The buildup to the exit poll is much more advanced, with different themes and different parts to it. Many more instruments used and David Lowe has a video about the creation of this theme.
    Arthur Theme: • Election '97 / Arthur

      The last theme was just a stock footage sandwich. I was worried they'd keep it corporate and stale forever, being too afraid to show the politicians' faces like in previous intros.
      This theme would've been perfect if they'd used better footage for Starmer, it's a bit weird how every other mainstream candidate had people holding signs indicating which party they supported but he didn't.
      Also, the clip where you slip the ballot paper into the box is literally the first thing that comes up when you search "UK voting" and looks a bit cheap.

    • @MintiesPoopin
      @MintiesPoopin Před měsícem

      @@mildlydispleased3221 also Reform didn’t have signs. I was more talking about the song itself rather than the visuals. But for me I think the visuals are an improvement too.

      @MintiesPoopin I know Reform didn't have signs, and really it's a one-man party, so Iike the footage they used of Farage, even if I despise the man himself.
      I just find how it's a bit strange that they didn't use the mountain of footage with people holding Labour signs but did for every other "real" party.
      I think this is a massive improvement and the best election intro so far.

    • @eIucidate
      @eIucidate Před měsícem +2

      The way that the figures are put up on screen has an effect on the way the presenter presents them.
      During the Dimbleby era, they'd just give you a textual headline - no numbers ("Labour landslide", "Hung parliament"/"Conservatives largest party") for a few seconds, and THEN they'd give you a breakdown of figures.
      In 2019, for Huw's election, they gave the headline ("Conservative majority") and two biggest parties' figures simultaneously, before then showing other parties.
      And in 2024 they went all-in à la ITV and Sky.
      The arrangement of the reveal in Dimbleby's era makes for a more dramatic announcement at the expense of details.
