TAMIYA GRASSHOPPER II ESSENTIAL UPGRADES SERIES #2 : 3D PRINTED FRONT DOUBLE-WISHBONE CONVERSION

- Grasshopper II's (and all other hoppers) front suspension is 'swing arm' type, which is very simple, strong and provides good enough performance in normal rides. But swing arms have there limits, and when upgrading to faster motor, front suspension upgrade is highly recommended. There are conversion kits that converts to double wishbone, but are very old, expensive, and requires some level of modification to chassis, which is not what I prefer.
My conversion kit for grasshopper II to convert its swing arm to d-wishbone.
No modification to chassis is required,
just replace front arm and front body pin holder with printed one,
then other work is very straightforward!
I know many people love hopper best at it's original state, and I am one of them. This kit is just for anyone who
have access to 3d printer,
do not want to spend too much money or time to modify
wants to keep hopper's original look,
open to small enhancements to it's rides!
Just doing all this as my pure appreciation to grasshopper and all other hoppers,
my childhood super dream car!

Nice work. If you adjust the angle of the top arm to be parallel to the bottom one you will get 0 camber change.
Just sub'd and thumbed your channel! lots of brilliant ideas! will check it out!
Great video man!
Here is a little question I have, what exactly are the 5~8mm 3T bolt in the HW list ? Just want to make sure thing can come together nicely when the printed parts arrived.
Thank you! 3T meaning 3mm thickness^^ good luck on the project!!!

Hi, great Work. How Long are your right/left threaded rod Form the Front Camberg Angle? What for damper length you recommend for front and rear. Can i use only the fix dampers? Thanks in advance. Greetings alex
Hi, end to end length of the rod (including the ball connector) is 47mm, will form zero camper. Damper length is 70mm I believe, but when using my setup, I use printed adapter, that makes the end to end length bit shorter, around 65mm. Hope this helps!
oh, for rear damper setup is 70mm and I didn't get your last question..? what do you mean by fix dampers?
@@HumbleVintageRC Hi and thanks a lot for the information . Sorry my Last question had include a writing Error. I wanted to know what for dampers you use.... From which other Tamiya model? Was it from the tamiya fox? Are the damper length Front and rear the Same 70mm? Thanks in advance, Greetings alex
Understood! some corrections from my last answers first : rear setup was not 70, it's 80mm, sorry if any confusions. Front is 70mm correct, just that it uses 3d printed rod ends not standard ball connector, so actual length is slightly shorter, about 65mm. And from what model? I am not sure because I have these floating around parts that I do not know where it came from ^^;;; but I am pretty sure the cva dampers for DT-02 or DT-03 chassis will fit. If you are looking for the actual yellow CVA dampers, try dampers for terra scorcher. They can be found in ebay^^. Thanks and good luck!
do you sell this made? i want this set up and the rear suspension brace.
Hi, I don't print & sell this parts since I am not a professional seller. Please understand, my intention is to share the design file for everyone to print by them selves^^
However if you really need the part, please let me know where you live. I can print them and ship it with actual shipping and printing costs^^
