I was stationed at Ft Totten during the mid 1950's. It was one of the most beautiful forts in the USA.
I was assigned to assist in the forts 100 anniversary. Many full size displays of different military engagements were constructed, by myself and other soldiers, that were selected for the project. I didn't own a camera to snap any photos of all the structures. Not that long ago I visited the Historical museum. The individual allowed me to look through photos that had been in their files, but unfortunately none of the Centennial project.
I also toured the post and was dismayed on how NYC has allowed the building including the barracks I was assigned to fall in to ruin. The same fate for the Farm Colony and Seaview Hospital in Staten Island.
