I love how people actually tried to critically break this movie apart when it came out. It's a movie with giant robots fighting giant monsters. If we actually wanted a plot we would go somewhere else, this is what's called an "awesome summer movie"

And don't forget Voltron! But yeah I enjoyed this one. I think the people who hate this movie are just really unappreciative towards the industry. They all base movies on a single scale, and judge them according to movies that aren't even supposed to be in the same league. Apples and oranges, man. Sure, the plot was questionable and there were quite a few cliches in there, but it's a kaiju monster movie in the summer! The director wasn't even *trying* for a realistic and sober film; this is what he wanted to do, and he did it. Next let's call Pollack's paintings garbage compared to da Vinci's! *sigh* Oh well. Rant over.

I only recently watched pacific rim. It is an anime in the form of the film, and I was in such a bliss when I saw it.
Truly a masterpiece
It's an anime in the form of a film, but it's a very western take on that style of anime, (Specifically the heavy, tactile feel of the jägers and the levels of viscera and such in the movie that drive home the size of the battles) and honestly that middle ground between the the classic western action movie grounded in reality and the complete fantasy of japanese anime/manga is what made (at least in my opinion) pacific rim a great movie. It hit the PERFECT balance
@@carton5235 I totally agree - though anime in my opinion is more the fluidity and the scale of stories than the drawings themselves, because in Evangelion there is heavy feel to Eva, and in Black Lagoon there is a feel to punches, but it is just the lack of time and budget in combination with the chosen style that doesn't allow anime creators to make fully realistic movements - sailor moon won't ever have heavy motion, but princess mononoke will, as the style appeals for realistic movements.
It’s the one film that I regret that I never saw it in theaters.
It’s one of the three films I use to see how well I’m gonna get along with people.

I think the image of Gypsy Danger wielding a cargo ship as a club or any other moment with gypsy in action says it all. It's just so awesome and so ridiculous not even the critics can break it apart.
Nothing can ever top Tom Morello's guitar work but this comes pretty damn close.

What I love about metal covers most is the extra character musicians add to the original. You take a fairly simple melody and turn into an avalanche of rich sound thanks to the range of the electric guitar, and then, having internalized what the track is all about, you extend the awesomeness with your own solo on top that almost always sounds as if the original author would've written it this exact way if they were going for metal. This cover is a beautiful example of all these things. 10/10

titanfall 2 was a much smaller scale idea than Pacific Rim though...and had nothing to do with the apocalypse. Pacific Rim is built on the philosophy of "together we are strong...alone we are weak" everything about it says that...even the giant jaeger robots can't operate to their full potential without two minds fusing together...so you see...teamwork. I'm just disappointed they only showed a small portion of the robots in this film...they really should make a prequel...about earlier in the war. as for titanfall 2 ...most of the time it just sounds like pilots getting boners on killing people in their titans they are always saying stuff like "not bad pilot" or "is that all you got...call yourself a pilot"
