Thanks! Good idea 👍🏻
Your welcome! What are you going to use it for?
What about the bettas being able to see each other?
I’m reading that this causes a lot of stress for the fish long term.
I didn't see that in this set up. It probably helped that it wasn't 2 males and I had some plants to help block line of sight. I literally never even saw them flare at each other.
Hi I tried this (I used straws cut up one side to make the sides stiff) and the divider works great but it seems this canvas mesh doesn’t seem to allow good water flow for the filter. Should I do 2 smaller filters like one on each side? The side without the filter has a static film on the surface
I would recommend either doing 2 small filters or possibly an undergravel filter. You can check out this video to see how I set up a divided tank.

Any concern about toxicity in the plastic?
Not at all. Plastic doesn't break down easily and takes an extremely long time. That's one of the reasons there is such an emphasis on recycling plastics and not just throwing them away.
@@IansFishRoom thanks! I came across this article which describes types of safe plastics for use in fish tanks - spec-tanks.com/aquarium-safe-plastics/
What can I use to separate fry from adults? The plastic canvas holes are a bit too large.
What type of fish are you trying to separate? If you are removing them by hand and looking for a divider you could use a matten filter as a aquarium divider.
@@IansFishRoom I'm attempting to separate guppy fry from adults.
@@sarahfriend4119 I just keep my guppies fry with the adults and provide plenty of hiding spots. Another option would be to try this.

I have 2 Oscar's that can't b friends and I need them in same tank
I need a much larger divider should I just use plexiglass
@@CooperAquatics you can try using egg crate
How do you finagle this with an already planted and scaped tank? I’ve bought two of these freaking things, one from Petco and one from Amazon, neither fit what they claimed to fit, and I hate them both lol but I have big stone in the middle and a bunch of plants…. And some grumpy male guppies that need a timeout 😑 I’m at a loss cus they are all siblings, were in a five gallon, living perfect fine. As they got bigger I decided to move them to a 20 gallon and THEN they started bein jerks to each other 🙄 there were 11 fish in there, 2 ended up being females I accidentally mis-sexed. Got them out and now there are 9 males, I thought maybe taking the females out would snap them back to reality and clam down, cus maybe they were super charged by their presence? But they literally NEVER bothered the females, they were always doing their own thing. Whereas the dudes got all crazy with each other. lol anyway….. how do you make this work with all the stuff in there??
Unfortunately you don't. Your going to have to move the substrate.
@@IansFishRoom I ended up just moving the fish lol the stupid things wouldn’t stay put
