    Now I'm considering putting mine to zero, say maybe before a pota activation, or before going on the air and streaming contacts live... to quickly see a lookup county after the fact... or just for no good reason at all. I'm gonna do it now, just because you made this video.

    This is probably left over from 1997 when HTML programming and webpage counters were cool.
    It might have something to do with multiple call signs but to allow you to edit it is funny!

      I think you are on to something. I have had 4 different calls. I wonder if the higher number is the accumulated lookups from them all combined???

    I knew that this was a problem for a while....I never quite understood why you can change your lookup number? I think it's an old legacy thing they never fixed.

    Thats pretty cool but also good that it still keeps the real lookup stats. Could be useful for daily counts for POTA etc.
    This however could upset some Sad HAM's.😅

    The people that have higher 'real' numbers than the editable visible one - maybe those are API lookups from logging software using QRZ to pull info and not actual web visits?

    • @AA0Z

      Good point. I would think a lookup is a look up?

    • @BrianFields
      @BrianFields Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@AA0Z I would too, but something is getting out of sync somewhere. Or maybe it's when people change call signs and one counter resets and the other doesn't?

    HI Kyle, it would be good for "recycled" calls, especially for special events like W0W that might be used for different events.

    • @AA0Z

      Good point. But why is it like that on every QRZ page?

    • @KD0RC
      @KD0RC Před 9 měsíci

      I would think that you would want to reset the counter if you got a previously-owned vanity call. But probably the real reason for it being everyone is so they don't have to decide who gets the functionality.

      hahah i was thinking the same thing .. But oddly .. not sure that number to the right of your lookups that you cant edit is legit.. Ive only been a ham for a couple years and that number on mine says 54272 ..but my actual is 8450 or so. maybe it means something else.. OR perhaps for mine its cumulative for who's ever owned the callsign as i took over my dads callsign when he passed in 2020.. so maybe they allow you to reset it on transfer.
