Great
I want a tree stump for mine too!
It works and costs zero!
B&B Charcoal works great with these grills. They do not burn out. Never have to add to them.
@@johnsutton8262 good advice. Iâll have to try some.
I liked your idea of using tree stump as pedestal. Looks great.
curtis shaw thanks!
I want one...
I've got one. Its a great little grill! I love mine.
Mr. Big it certainly is. Fun to cook on too.
Hungry now.
this was a good video, those burgers looked great
yummy
Looked good to me! Definitely takes a little experience to get good at cooking on the ol' Hibachi.... (if you're 50 or older, it's perfectly acceptable to call it a Hibachi, younger folks call it a Sportsman's grill đ) The burgers looked GREAT!
Thank you for this video. I recently found an old sportsman's grill, possibly BSR, in great shape. I did not realize the grilling surface could be flipped. Your tree stump grilling table is an idea I intend to use, too.
Sandra Sweeney glad it works for you.
Thatâs great if you were lucky enough to find an old BSR!
Purely luck - it was in a dark garage with other things for sale. I've been trying to find an affordable grill and also think of some way to have a campfire and this seemed like the perfect blend of both - for $15.00. It wasn't until I got it home and looked at the plate that opens to the fire box and saw the name that I realized what it might be. I'll find someone around here with more knowledge about cast iron. At any rate, it's in very good shape - the owner took good care of it.
Score! Congrats, those are the best kind of purchases; the ones you stumble across and the fit is perfect for you.
Sure is! And below the price on the piece of masking tape was the word, "Firm".
I do not do raw onions in my hamburger anymore, the water content in the onions tend's to ad water content into the meat giving the meat a parboil effect, I now saute and dry my onions prior to mixing in with the meat...
JUST A THOUGHT, TRY IT!!!
Interesting. I enjoy the flavor of the âonion juice pocketsâ created as the onion shrinks. I also do a stuffed meatloaf that I specifically add in mushrooms for their juices they sweat out during the cook. You know how much mushrooms put out.
Stuffed meatloaf is here in this video

@@TeachaMantoFish I take 2 just the way you made them
Charles Martin order up!
As a kid Iâd watch my dad grill but was too hyper to see how it was actually done. As an adult Iâve use the gas grill; but Iâm super curious how to use charcoal on my sportsman lodge grill.
I have a Dutch oven with a charcoal topping lid and I used it once by removing the inner guts of my broken old gas grill and putting down aluminum foil and placing charcoal from my chimney into the bottom and setting my Dutch over the top of the coals and adding some to the top. Where I failed was that I didnât k ow I could or should add more charcoal as it was cooking.
Watching your videos, I see you use a chimney and I still see red charcoals. I have no idea when to add the charcoal to the bottom, like, when is the charcoal ready to use?
Also, when and what does the the draft door used/do? I heard you say it adjusts the temp, but I donât understand why you said it gets hotter when itâs open, but then you close it and say you have more control.
Iâm pretty sure with charcoal I canât blow something up, but my dad passed in 2015; and I donât really have dude friends, and my neighbor uses gas lol.
I need some serious coaching, but I really want to Master grilling. I have had my lodge grill about 5 years and havenât used it and thatâs such a shame. So I am on a mission to figure it out so when fallcomes Iâll be a grilling fool!!! I even have 3 big bags of charcoal and those light stick thingies that feel like particle board.
Any and all advice and video recommendations would be appreciated. I wanna learn to grill so someday if the world goes wacky, my 30 cast iron skillets and I will survive. Oh and can you use small slivers of chopped wood instead of charcoal??
You should start with a small webber grill And learn the basics of the top and bottom vents..And take it from there.
what are 8515 burgers or what is your burger recipe?
85% lean 15% fat mix ratio. It is usually labeled on the package what the fat content is and the more fat the cheaper.
How funny is it that I did all this yesterday and today I get this video..lol
Ha! Timing is everything. Any suggestions or did you see anything I missed?
@@TeachaMantoFish I usually reseason mine on the grill rack of my oklahoma joe offset. I just clean it up and leave it over some hot coals. Just I would in a oven.
Doing it right, homemade fries and all. đ€€ I want it
With some vinegar on those boardwalk fries, sooo good!
Worse oil Ever.
try throwing frozen burgers on the coals so i dont have to if it doesnt work lol
Lodge oil is Virgin olive oil
Doug Evans You got bad scoop, Lodge seasoning spray is 100% canola oil.
