Ep28 Mixing Melody and Rhythm

A bit of practical theory today as I cover how to integrate melody and rhythm into your playing. I start with the basics and cover the major scale and how we use it to build melody, chords and chord progressions. Then I discuss playing diatonically (using only the notes of the given key) and how this serves as guardrails as well as guide posts for our playing. Finally, I provide a practical example using the Carter Family version of the classic Can the Circle Be Unbroken?
I used my trusty 1953 Gretsch Synchromatic arch top guitar for the demos and an AKG room condenser mic for recording.
