Glad to see that somebody put Leading Edge Slats on an LSA. I thought it would make a huge difference in performance. What is the airspeed on landing? Should make STOL dragging very interesting. Next need is large speed brakes to kill airspeed before dropping the flaps and slats to land..

Did U indicate 16MPH stall speed- really? How much weight is shaved from basic Cub STOL using Carbon? I noticed the difficulty of ground effects while trying 2 land- so light that the combined surfaces make plane almost weightless. INCREDIBLE. 3 plane lengths to land & take off- wow!!! With no wind, what is true mimimum landing speed, using no power (til almost touch down) with full flaps? If tubes are carbon fiber, the airframe safety lifespan must be forever. Stresses were so minimal during both videos. (Sorry, so awed by video- I'm having racing thoughts- it can be landed almost anywhere!) Imagine new Ford gas direct injection, turbocharged 1.0 liter 3 cylinder engine (12" cube-motor & turbo) with 150 HP, 170 Ft./Lbs of torque & total weight under 300Lbs all in- including hard mounts. More power, lighter weight... Oops, more racing thoughts!
Published weight empty is 895 lbs. Max weight for the LSA class is 1320 lbs. I think the tubes are still steel, but weight savings was achieved by reducing total number of parts and making some others out of carbon fiber. All this with a 180 bhp engine. Cruise at 80hp is about 90mph with a 5-6 gph fuel burn.
How do these slats affect overall fuel economy on longer flights I wonder? The performance at low speeds in evident, however, in order to get to the bush in remote areas, longer flights may be required and the overall performance in terms of fuel efficiency is likely affected
While the high AOA on landing is impressive, the viz suffers quite a bit it appears, not good for real off airport work. Not a concern on a few thousand feet of grass airstrip of course.

Looks like the slats are fixed not retractable. To much drag in cruise...Bummer. Zenith Aircraft are like that.
