Just a local trial run to check one camera setup. And a review of the flight characteristics so far. Still baby stepping my way into the capabilities of this airplane.
I don't know why I'm just seeing this video. Definitely one of the best I've seen, beautiful scenery no annoying music. At the beginning you can actually hear how you used your power management to do those excellent landings 👍😂
Reminds me of when I went with a friend to bring his C182 back from Alaska to Oklahoma. I had never done off airport flying and he filled my bucket list to overflowing!
I know this is an old one, I watched every one of your build vids, and enjoyed them all. I know you are busy with your family and business take care of them first. Just want to thank you.
Tha Navi looks beautiful! :) Just makes me want to buy some land enough for a hanger/workshop and small cabin! It would be great! :) Man that cub looks Awesome! Wonderful built too! :)
Gorgeous plane. I LOVE that blue cowling. Great video. Love the first person perspective and hearing the engine. Looking forward to your future videos. :)
Kirk I want to say thank you for your first video flight in the Carbon Cub and I’m looking to flying in the back seat on more flights so let’s do some more
Love your videos flying C185 and now this Carbon Cub! I was always interested if you could talk little bit about comparing and "living" with these two different beasts. How much safety margin Carbon Cub adds to flying remote Idaho strips (slow approach speed, shorter landing distance, ... )? Etc..
Thank you. As far as safety margin goes the CC is night and day easier. What is marginal for a 185 is a non issue in the CC. Of course they are still very tricky and challenging spots, but you have so much less energy on landing and so much less takeoff roll the carbon cub. It is in a different league. However… the 185 can do 150knots getting there. But frankly that’s not a really factor for this type of flying. Cub also has much better manors landing and taking off.
Boy what a nice job you did on your Carbon Cub. Big difference getting in and out of some of your favorite spots in ID I bet! Viewing your 185 videos, there is no detectable prop motion when you are in cruise. Can I ask what filter you use with your GoPro to get such clean videos through your prop? Happy Flying!
Beautiful bird. Good job on the build. I just bought an new EX 3 in November and have 30 hrs total in the plane. It’s my first trail dragger so I am a newbie. I’m in TX so I don’t quite get the amazing scenery you have but I am headed to the mountains this summer. I will be watching your videos! I am struggling with GoPro mounts. Not the easiest plane to mount them on the exterior. Keep up the good work.
That’s a tough one.. depends on many factors. Just myself and the occasional able bodied passenger it would be the carbon cub. Two people and maybe small children it would be the 185. Family and friends the 206. Family and friends and lot of gear-beaver.
Thanks! I’m still getting used to it. Baby steps. That’s awesome. This is shot with an 8 Black and I have 5 Black, but it’s so slow and glitchy I’ll probably have to upgrade to the new one.
I envy you. Living in a country where off Airport landings are forbidden, those planes make no sense really. I wouldn't get one anyway, I also fly Helicopters and those are even better at this 😊 but it would be really great to be able to land them on a friends property. We are to densely populated 😢 Still it itches from time to time, there are those short grass strips...😇
Hey there Kirk, I love watching your videos they are inspiration to what im about to get into. My grandfather and I are on the wait list for an EX3! I was wondering, what made you choose the EX2 over an EX3? Thanks in advance, Nick
Kirk I’m working as a CFI in Idaho and am trying to decide if I’ll buy a husky, cub, or 180 once I get that dream flying job in the future. If you could only have one what would it be?
Of your three choices: If it’s by myself a cub. Specifically the lightest cub I can find… carbon cub is the 😎. If I have family, or need to put it to work a Skywagon. Every pilots mission is different but those would be my choices.
I don't know why I'm just seeing this video.
Definitely one of the best I've seen, beautiful scenery no annoying music.

I could watch this all day
Beautiful airplane, beautiful flying, great video
Thanks!

Great video. Wasn't expecting gravel bar cockpit view landings and no music. It was fantastic Thanks for posting!

What an amazing video, its so nice seeing this IRL because its my fav plane to fly in MSFS too! Thanks for this subbed!!
Cool! Thanks
No annoying music!!! Thank you for that. Love the engine sounds. You landed on a sandbar?? :) How awesome
Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us to share in the enjoyment of your beautiful Carbon Cub! Great job on all accounts!
Thank you. Very kind words 🙏

Thank you for sharing. The feeling is fabulous for all those who love this plane❤
What a sweet ride!! I'm thinking about doing the same thing
That’s the best 19 minute video that I’ve seen lately
Beautiful aircraft, incredible workmanship and job building it and obviously it looks like such a blast to fly!
Thank you
This was so much fun to watch. Thank you, I hope to view more. 🌿
I like your tips and techniques that you include for the before takeoff
Beautiful bird, thanks for sharing!
What a great airplane...and great flying.
Thank you!
Nice to see you out flying Kirk Cub looks great 👍

Kirk I want to say thank you for your first video flight in the Carbon Cub and I’m looking to flying in the back seat on more flights so let’s do some more
I have to go back and check your build videos now. I want to see more of the instrument panel and controls.
Love cubs
Great video
Lookin good Kirk👍
Thanks!
Makes me want to sell my ultralight and my leisure home and buy that Murphy Rebel I've always wanted.
Awesome, she looks like a dream
Pretty surreal
Nice :). Been waiting for weeks to see this.:)
Magnificent and that humming engine....sweet, why I just saw this i do not know, BUT better late then never...lol
Very fun plane to fly.

Awesome video. Maybe just a touch higher on the GoPro angle. Maybe to the bottom of the speed tape or rpm gage
Yeah my thoughts too 👍
So cool. I wish i had one.
Hope you fix your loose wire on your audio; I missed the part about flap settings.
Whelp, this might have just sold me on getting a Carbon Cub!

Thanks Steve. I use the Nflight prop filter out on the wing and the in cockpit one is just the hero 8 by itself 🤷♂️
@@klpilot Thanks, I have a C-180 with 310hp and plan on taking it into the Ozark backcountry this summer and then ID next.

You’ve had some pretty sweet planes. If you had to pick one…just one. which would go with?
That’s a tough one.. depends on many factors. Just myself and the occasional able bodied passenger it would be the carbon cub. Two people and maybe small children it would be the 185. Family and friends the 206. Family and friends and lot of gear-beaver.
Love it! Cant just have one….
I want one
Excellent Flying! I'm waiting on my FX3 to be built; expecting delivery in March.
What version of the GoPro are you using?
Thanks! I’m still getting used to it. Baby steps. That’s awesome. This is shot with an 8 Black and I have 5 Black, but it’s so slow and glitchy I’ll probably have to upgrade to the new one.
Amazing!!
Great plane 👌
A very beautiful place❤

This looks like the Arlington area if my sleuthing is correct. North Fork Stilly?
That’s right 👍
Love it. Buying some land in Alaska where it’s going to be fly in fly out only. No more city life for me. Bye bye florida
Hey there Kirk, I love watching your videos they are inspiration to what im about to get into. My grandfather and I are on the wait list for an EX3!

Awesome! You’ll have a blast
2 vs 3… 3 is probably a better all around airplane. 2 is lighter and simpler. Both important to me for backcountry specific ops
I appreciate your opinion on it! Thanks for taking the time to make all these awesome videos!!
@@nicklivingston3270 you’re welcome. I hope you guys have as much fun building as I did. I’ll definitely be building another 👍
Whats the next one going to be?
Awesome video. Could you by chance tell me what phone mount that is?
Thanks. Ram mount
Kirk, what glass instruments do you have in the 185. I'm looking to upgrade my Cessna 180 and need some ideas. Thanks, fly safe.
185 has the Dynon Skyview HDX
From the front camera I thought it was Microsoft Flight Simulator 😁
What is your airspeed coming in for those slow landings? It look like you could get out and walk! haha Also what's the stall speed of your aircraft?
He said something like 45 coming in and then stall speed was less than high thirties
Just seen your plane for sale on trade a plane. Can't believe your selling it already.
Awesome video. Could this plane be used for pilot training? (Lafayette, LA)

this is what I would do if I could fly!
Why did you end up selling it after all that work?!
You takeoff full manifold in?? It looks like 60% in by the sound.
Thanks
in the first takeoff i mean
What’s your cubs empty weight?
Think I found the answer to this on your final build video. 1025ish
Yeah it was 1022 before unusable fuel. So somewhere in the range of 1050 practically
Have you hit the 40 hour mark yet?
Yeah. In the middle of the video I explain and review that 👍
how long time does it take to build a carbon cub?
I would say most people take a couple of years or longer. I built this one in 7 months
Do you ever miss your 185?
I’ll help you in anyway possible in any Tailwheel Aircraft
Do you still have this plane?
No Cubcrafters bought it from me. It’s had a pretty neat run being on the cover of multiple magazines and used for development and demo by them 👍
Cool. Are you still flying?
Have you tried flying from the back seat or the C/G ? (center Gravity)
Not yet in mine... I have in others. CC not able to solo for the rear seat
GPS so I can fly it on MS flight simulator!
what do u think of the savage norden?
