Lost Kampongs in Singapore

  • Today, we do not have one single village left in Singapore and the last kampong - which is a Malay word for village - here was demolished, I cheered because that was the last of the squatters and we achieved that by 1980. We rehoused the total population and it had multiple knock-on effects.

Some of this can be seen in Sarawak of today, indeed. I am sad that Singapore has eradicated everything perceived as not modern, and in the process eradicated a part of the history, culture, and the roots.
May be it is not up to me to speak like this. But still, I see these scenes and houses, man ... not everything was worthwhile, but there are some pretty pretty ones.

Sedikit kisah kenangan lama, daripada saya di Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, sekian Terima Kasih.
