Wait..so they throw out the suggestions by Yogi for ticket distribution and then blame him for the loss??? Its time to think past Modi, how long can he pull the party? They are more concerned about maintianing the his image, while he stays in his ivory tower and has lost ground connect with people, they have not done any critical analysis on why they lost instead looking for scapegoats, the 400par probably cost a lot of seats. If at all Yogi is targetted, he will grow even bigger than Modi. Shah is proving to be a problematic individual, they will loose MH and Haryana badly because of what they did, and we saw what happened in K'taka, Shah's thinking is if you have a hammer every problem looks like a nail.
exactly, from election results day i am observing, they are trying to softly put the responsibility of up result on the yogi, from sharing memes where yogi is sad for results, i think its a larger strategy by modi and amit shah to remove yogi, they were afraid of him from starting and this results just gave them the excuse they needed, but everyone knows they lost because of modi arrogance

BJP loss is perhaps due to over-confidence, issues with RSS, repeating candidates (in Delhi they changed candidates for 6 out of 7, won all despite opposition alliance third time), opposition charge of changing constitution stuck over 400 par (which was very counter productive), some internal struggle perhaps. It's hard to win another great victory after winning 4 elections in the past (2024, 2017, 2019, 2022). Given the bi-polar nature of UP election (where BSP is relegated to poor third), it's unlikely, any further slip in UP for BJP unless they themselves make more mistakes, which I think is unlikely. Anyway, it a good wake up call for BJP ahead of 2027 and 2029 to be on toes and not take victory for granted

I don't think the BJP is in any self denial. In fact, Modi seems to be hurt and has taken the loss very personally.
Nevertheless, they need to keep their chin up else it would explode like UPA 2. I think that's why BJP is trying to act as though it is business as usual. Also, another reason is that its assembly prospects are not great this year. Haryana is a goner while Maha would be hard to retain.

What goes up must come down. Bulldozer Baba was getting too big for his boot. He was never too popular amongst his peers. He largely depended on the bureaucrats to carry out his Tanasahi firman, and even had to import a Gujrati official turned politician to buttress his high-handed position in the administration/party. Now the dissenters got the opportunity to open rebellion because of his bad performance in the election.
It's time BJP plan for its future. Whether you like it or not Modiji is not getting any youngers, he's in the final phase of his political innings. Who else is better suited to be the next PM than Yogiji? Like Modiji he's been CM for a while, he's second most popular BJP leader after Modiji himself, even more than Amit Shah. If BJP wants to stay in Power at UP and centre, solution is simple - announce Yogiji as thr successor.
I am not a political expert but I feel that KPM , who couldn’t win his assembly seat was being propped up by HM to counter Yogi , who was becoming too popular for HM’s comfort. This isn’t the BJP of Vajpayee- Advani era ( remember when Vajpayee lost majority by one vote but refused to bargain).Ethics are different now. And while corroded values gave BJP many gains, it’s coming back to haunt them.

The moment when you promised Ram rajya and gave Ravan rajya covering it in the name of necessity to stay in power, you lost your moral high ground from whom you snatched power thus making it hard even for your supporters to convince voters on your uniqueness, added to it the way defections were encouraged to bring down state govts has made the neutral voters that voted BJP for betterment more wary about BJP itself than anyone to the point today that turnaround has become impossible and it would be in the best interest of major NDA partners like TDP and JDU to maintain as much distance as possible to BJP to avoid the anger on BJP turning toward them.
SG's logic doesn't make sense. The assembly elections are generally independent of the lok sabha elections. People could have been aggreived with the PM Modi not CM Yogi. By the logic of SG, AAP should have gotten 0 assembly seats in Delhi as they also lost all 7 seats even in last lok sabha elections.

BJP has grown extremely arrogant and complacent over the last 10 years both in center as well as big states like UP, Maharashtra, Karnataka. It isn't the party with a difference anymore. It needs to be shown the door now even if that means hooliganism returns to the streets of UP for another 5 years. Some lessons are only learned the hard way.
Problem is ordinary people will suffer especially if the alternative party will bring hooliganism and law & order mess. What you say may work in more developed states like KA or MH but just when UP is beginning to slowly turn-around, it's not worth ruining the momentum with the wrong party coming into power who'll undo every painstaking achievement within days.

It would be useful to do a deepdive into the UP election results to understand which MP candidates lost e.g. did BJP lose a lot of seats where they replaced a strong sitting MP with a Congress defector? Or did they lose those seats where BJP High Command imposed their candidates instead of Yogi’s recommendations or vice versa?

There has been a pattern in UP assembly. Winners don’t repeat. 2022 was an exception when winner of 2017 repeated. So also examine your analysis in light of UP patterns. UP is unlike West Bengal where a winner stays a winner for decades.

Surely UP election was being contested by mighty BJP's 'double engine ki sarkar', only the two engines were pulling in opposite directions. SG has said earlier, and I fully agree, that BJP is looking more and more like the Congress of Indira Gandhi's time, where the electoral victory is claimed by the 'high command' and defeat is attributed to others. I still do not think INDIA alliance has a viable unity of thought to lead the country, but BJP could cede the ground due to their repeated un-forced errors. Democracy in India is alive and kicking is the only silver lining visible through the cloudy results of 2024 General Elections.

An analysis full stats in the initial part, appeared avoidable. This analysis by design or default did not mention the lost value of Modi ji's guarantees.
