Being able to learn from Doug Marcaida would be a privilege, even his theology is calming.
7:40 - "Without the art, everything about it is dark."
Imagine the enemy getting multiple cut in a matter of seconds.
Imagine that same enemy, but u just shoot them and keep it pushing.

This makes me really want to learn Kali
It's Siyric it's frighteningly fast to understand.. at least that's what my experience was..
Sayoc Kali, Atienza Kali or it's trash
Actually it's a pretty fun sport and that's based in my experience
You all are wrong I'm a Philippines see our Martial arts it's a close combat military we have many Martial art like Kali Arni's and other else Philippines use with stick blade knife and empty hand to other countries our Martial arts call the deadliest close combat from other Martial arts

"Kali is a deadly art...without the art it is all dark" - I think that remark is profoundly insightful, Doug M. I know these arts can warp your mind if you approach them from the "wrong" angle but it was absolutely refreshing to hear that come out of your mouth - that's some perspective worth listening to and it says everything about where this man is really coming from. Well done! BTW, nice vid on other points as well. Funker rocks!
Being a gun fanatic. I gotta say. "You may have changed this gun man to a blade man" Really impressed.
Any guy should master the two
Eric W đ€
Why not both
Dimitris p decision fatigue for one thing can be an issue
Eric W Iâm a gun guy, too, and Iâm not too impressed đ
This is an awesome way to train...I started this way in the 70's with two brothers from Vietnam...this video brought up great memories! Cheers!
Doug you are the reason I started kali.Rewatching this video 4years after.Difference is now I can understand these moves.Thank you for inspiring me.
This is a real Master with fine techniques about Kali.
Doug Marcaida understands the inner conception and the external physical connection.
Thank you for bring this awesome material.
I just wanted to take a second to say I love your videos. Especially with Doug. I trained in martial arts for several years and have some training in Escrima. The stuff that Doug shows is priceless. Great stuff!
Doug Marcaida is such a Gem of a Man!
Much Respect, Kuya Doug!

Love Doug Marcaida. His knowledge and technical skill application are immense. Huge fan of Filipino Martial Arts.
That passing from person to person is also a great way to simulate multiple attackers.
and everyone, even in a drill, moves differently, with different timing, angles, pressure.. switching in flow is great practice.
Look at those flow drills...amazing!! He is such a great speaker and teacher !
So many valuable lessons here. Thank you, Funker Tactical for making this video, and thank you, Kuya Doug for sharing
Another excellent no nonsense vid, thanks for sharing it.
Another great video, Funker. It's hard for most people to see the intricacies, such as exactly where they are cutting, when they are going at pace so it was nice to see you ask them to break it down for the masses. Keep up the awesome work.
Yep; slowed to 1/4 speed, I can pretty-much catch enough of what's going on to recreate the flow drill for myself and a couple of classmates (bagua, but everyone needs knife skilz).
I learn so much, I will never forget his 6th to 8th point. Tbh I wasn't expecting that, thank you Doug and FT
Thank you GN for giving us some new knife content and thank you Guru for allowing GN to film in your home
i gotta say i am extremely impressed and inspired by you. Im in the process of buying a karambit. Im an eight year student of brazilian jiu jitsu, and i realize and respect the threat an edged weapon presents to myself and others. I plan to begin training immediately.
Thank you all very much for your time and dedication to sharing.
What a great instructor.
Recently I have become in AWE of Kali and hope one day my Filipino Aussie son would like to learn it's magic art..đđ
Incredible video! I want the extended uncut version please... This is PRICELESS!
The man is a master! The flow, That trace state can only be entered when you are as water.
Please do not call him Master call him kuya.
Chapeau Mr. Doug Marcaida !
Speed, Skill, Precission, Letal, and CONFIDENCE ! Thank you very much,
Mr.Guru Doug Marcaida.
Jâaime tout ce que je vois, Monsieur MARCAIDA.
Merci pour votre humilitĂ© infini⊠đđ«đ·đźđȘđșđžđ«
This is some great information, thank you. I would like to believe that people would understand why certain things are not shown in a 12 minute video. Like you said this is your home for private students and for people that are part of that brotherhood. Respect!!!
Keep up the great work GN and Doug. You guys are awesome!
Probably the best (for me) of the blade vids yet.
Very good video on the explanations on everything shown. I'm a student of a different style of Kali/Arnis/Eskrima and the explanations on the drills really help me better understand the reasons behind the drills. Very interesting.
Excellent video and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Great information and examples, Doug. We appreciate what you and your guys do!
Absolutely the best. Thank you
Great clip, one of the best I have seen with Doug.
Thank you for the crystal clear lesson I have done many martial arts but i grew to have a true interest for Kali and silat and if you pay close attention to his videos you should have no problem training

I'm born in Africa, end of talking.
When buying bread, going to school, shopping for food tolerate me on daily basis with predators then I'm in the position to confess that all what you say is right. I don't know you or what's your background, I only knew myself and my thrive to survive in my country using okapi blades is the key of life. Great video.
Absolutely beautiful form of defense. Especially when a hammer isn't in hand.
Really enjoyed this vid.
Doug is an amazing Kali practitioner.
This was the best video I've seen so far.
I love it .Thank you for this gift today .
Doug u are an amazing trainer and thanks for showing us the kali art. greetings from Colombia :D

Thank you guys for making these types of videos! Would love to train with Mr Mercaida someday.
This guy rocks! Kali black belt expert for sure! Tankilikin ang sariling atin! Mabuhay ka Doug!!!!
"Own your space". Great advice :)
Stand your ground?. Public place who's ground is it?
That is much threat I learned in Stockton in the early 1970s. The schools were all backyard and it was very family centric. It was not really taught with the idea of making a fortune from it. More or less to pass it on.
The big difference these days is liability. If you trained the way we did years ago you would be sued I suspect at some point. We trained really hard with out gloves and later live blades.
Sir Doug maybe you can write books about your art so it doesn't get lost..your art is so beautiful and can be useful.
u can see that technique in doce pares phils,,,and any other filipino stick fighting martial arts here in the phils
One of my fave oldies and goodies, thankyou tuhon Doug and Paulo GN for sharing and inspiring us all train hard and train smart Mr Clive
I am more into firearms - But Dougs Kali/Blade videos are by far my favourite.
I want to learn but havent found any instructors in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Maybe i will stop by the Philippine cultural association
Great vid. Always thought martial arts didn't really get into stuff like this, particularly fro Situational Awareness on.
Doug is the best.
very good teaching.. training/studying thai boxing for 14 yrs its nice to see very good teaching and application . well done and thank you for posting!!!
lesson 7 and 8. very well said.. :)
Gracias mĂster dug markaida e aprendido mucho de usted para mi defensa personal nuevamente gracias
I love Kali, Escrima, and Blaintiwak (sp). Some of best arts ive ever had the honor of studying!!! :-)
Thereâs no one teaching around me-wish I could find a place to train.
Outside. đ
I just go out in the environment.
Remember, fights happen outside too, in all weather, always be prepared.
I live in Indiana & still train in Winter months outside.

We are closer then you think. Donât look in the strip malls for us. Look in the back alleys of the strip malls, the basements of the buildings, in the garages, the back yards etc. We are out there, weâre Just not for mass consumption.
Well you can learn without teachers bro just believe in your self

Thank you for sharing your knowledge over this beautiful martial art. Greetings from Aruba.
Awesome information as usual
Thanks for sharing.
Wow thank you very informative
Thanks for an awesome and informative vid!!!
Thank you. Good vid.
One must never lose sight of the fight .
What constitutes a fight is what most will never even begin to comprehend .
I have dealt with serious fighters , and I have contributed to most .
I have encountered men that can use their feet with no space for movement ,
Chest to chest - No air in between ,
And still they can kick the other unconscious using their foot from the ground to the others head ,
Faster than a a professional featherweight boxer can throw a punch to the head !
I have been around fighters all my life ,
And i have always known who are complete , meaning extremely dangerous ,
And who are incomplete , meaning lacking in conviction .
I encountered those who trained in secret ,
But I identified them disguising their movement as street fighting ,
The actions of versatility are unmistakable !
doug marcaida is the best...
I love what you're doing, saying, and showing brother...especially that last statement you made at the end about the importance of "awareness training! Take care and keep pounding! Also, if you're ever in Charlotte NC...would be an honor to have you drop by the school. Do you travel for seminars?
" It wheel keel. "
forge in fire đ„
