I think I know why. Because it's goddamn annoying. Hammering the point 'index values, not exponents' ad nauseam. The condescending robotic voice. That music, picked to be as distracting as possible. Describing the mathematical concepts completely apart from reality with zero relatable examples, zero individuality, no clear structure, making every presented transformation and concept so totally forgettable, that in the end it all just blends into a uniform blur of colorful arrows being moved around with no sense or purpose, and leaving the watcher none the wiser.

The format is not conductive to learning for newcomers to the subject though, especially with its disconnect with reality. Einstein was a physicist foremost, describing our universe. This, though, is pure mathematics and the videos don't attempt to connect it to our universe in the least, completely stripping Einstein's ideas from their connection to the reality. @@EugeneKhutoryansky UNDERSTANDING TIME (AND TIME DILATION) PURSUANT TO THE BALANCED, THEORETICAL, AND CLEAR MATHEMATICAL PROOF THAT E=MC2 IS F=MA (OF NECESSITY):
Stellar clustering ALSO proves ON BALANCE that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy, AS E=MC2 is clearly F=ma IN BALANCE !!! This explains the fourth dimension AND the term c4 (from Einstein's field equations). Gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy are linked AND BALANCED opposites, AS E=MC2 IS F=ma ON BALANCE; AS the stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. GRAVITATIONAL force/ENERGY IS proportional to (or BALANCED with/as) inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS E=MC2 IS F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. TIME dilation ULTIMATELY proves ON BALANCE that E=MC2 IS F=ma IN BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS gravity/acceleration involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE. Accordingly, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. So, it makes perfect sense that the planets will move away from WHAT IS THE SUN very, very, very SLIGHTLY. Carefully consider what is THE EYE ON BALANCE !!! (Very importantly, outer "space" involves full inertia; AND it is fully invisible AND black.) E=MC2 is CLEARLY proven to be F=ma ON BALANCE. This NECESSARILY represents, INVOLVES, AND DESCRIBES what is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. (Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy ON BALANCE, AS E=MC2 IS clearly F=ma IN BALANCE.) Carefully consider what is the speed of light (c). A PHOTON may be placed at the center of what is THE SUN (as A POINT, of course), AS the reduction of SPACE is offset by (or BALANCED with) the speed of light (c); AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 IS clearly F=ma ON BALANCE. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky !!! Indeed, TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Carefully consider what is THE EARTH/ground AND what is THE EYE ON BALANCE !!! The sky is BLUE, AND THE EARTH is ALSO BLUE. THE EARTH is a BALANCED MIDDLE DISTANCE form in relation to the speed of light (c) AND what is THE SUN (AS what is a linked AND BALANCED opposite) pursuant to the universal (and CLEAR) fact that E=MC2 IS F=ma ON BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy. E=MC2 IS clearly proven to be F=ma ON BALANCE. Carefully consider what is THE EARTH/ground !!! Great. "Mass"/ENERGY involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE consistent with/as what is BALANCED electromagnetic/gravitational force/ENERGY, AS E=MC2 IS F=ma IN BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Accordingly, objects (AND WHAT IS the falling MAN) fall at the SAME RATE (neglecting air resistance, of course); AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY proven to be F=ma ON BALANCE. Gravity is clearly ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy, AS E=MC2 is clearly F=ma IN BALANCE !!! It all CLEARLY makes perfect sense, AS BALANCE AND completeness go hand in hand. Gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy are linked AND BALANCED opposites, AS E=MC2 is clearly F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. (Energy has/involves GRAVITY, AND ENERGY has/involves inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE. BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE is fundamental.) I want to as a question, but i know that i have not grasped the content of this video and watched it only about 55%; however the question can be made sharper, if i first try to explain my problem with curved space in an analogue example:
(here in this video it did not happen this way:) sometimes, scientific broadcasts on TV, or physicians use a tensioned(correct word?) sheet in which they throw a heavy ball, representing a mass object in space. then they roll a smaller ball around it, that ball represents a smaller mass in space.
in that example the downhill force given by the shape of the sheet shall resemble gravitation. however i can understand or imagine taht space is curved, yet this example that they use gives me an awkward feeling, i.e. the feeling that the analogy is wrong.
first: the vector of that plane is random. secondly, the force holding the ball on its path is the result of a downhill force that requires our gravitation on earth. tilting that experiment would make it invalid.
so, to start with: is that model with the tensioned sheet a simple and wrongfully illustration of "curved" space?
i could imagine curved space in 3D, but this 2D wouldnt allow to sum up tilted planes to get the same result. the "dent" could also be "upwards", but can it resemble a dent (resulting, or rather: original forces) into any other direction?

ABSOLUTE LAWS of NATURE - PHYSICS
      Actual & Factual
      • There must be an input of energy for there to be an output of energy.
      • The output of energy cannot exceed that of the input of energy.
      • An input of energy may be converted into an output of energy, and an output of energy may be converted into an input of energy.
      • Energy may be converted, but energy cannot be created or destroyed.
      • For every action (force of motion) there is an equal and opposite reaction (force of motion).
      • For every force of energy sub-divided, e.g. as per a shotgun effect, the sum of the force of impacts is equal to the sum of the force exerted.
      • The sum of the force exerted against an immovable surface area, is equal to the quantity of energy exerted.
      • The sum of force exerted to form a particle or a density of matter, is equal to the quantity of energy used to form that particle or density of matter.
      Rational
These laws of physics apply universally throughout the Cosmos to all sizes and types of particles of matter. And this is regardless as to where they may exist in the Cosmos, when they may exist in the Cosmos.
And whether or not they exist within a voluminous free state of, e.g. interstellar space, quantum space, gases, fluids, or within organised structures of, e.g. electromagnetic wavelengths, atoms, stars, celestial bodies and any other form of matter.

      Oxford English Dictionary
Energy: The capacity of matter or radiation to do work: The means of doing work by utilising matter or radiation. (Author. Energy is a substance that is always in motion, and it is the density and the power of its accelerated motion, relative to the resistance of a smaller or less dense quantity matter, which serves to transfer a force of acceleration into the smaller or less dense quantity of matter).
Force: A measurable influence that causes something to move. (Author: Please see above definition as per energy).
Gravity: 1 a. The force that attracts a body to the centre of the Earth or other celestial body. b. The degree of intensity of this measured by acceleration. c. Gravitational force. (Author: A downward acting attractional energy that is being exerted upon particles of matter, atoms, and bodies from the Earth's centre of gravitation).
Gravitation: 1. A force of attraction between any particle of matter in the universe and any other”. 2. The effect of this esp, the falling of bodies to earth.
OED Quote: *1 a. The force that attracts a body to the centre of the Earth or another celestial body.*
OED Quote *1. A force of attraction “between any particle of matter in the universe and any other”*
      Rational
Reiteration Quote: These laws of physics apply universally throughout the Cosmos to all sizes and types of particles of matter. And this is regardless as to where they may exist in the Cosmos, or when they may exist in the Cosmos.
And whether or not they exist within a voluminous free state of, e.g. interstellar space, quantum space, gases, fluids, or within organised structures of, e.g. electromagnetic wavelengths, atoms, stars, celestial bodies and any other form of matter.
As such, given that there has to be an energy input for action and reaction (*attraction*) to take place between any two particles throughout the Cosmos.
So it is, that there has to exist at the quantum (infinitesimal) level of the Cosmos, a universal, ubiquitous source of energy, which fundamentally serves to fuel every action and reaction throughout the Cosmos.
All particles of matter throughout the Cosmos possess spin - rotation, and all particles and bodies of matter that have spin - rotation, generate centrifugal force from their centres of gravity.
The Earth is a large spinning sphere of matter that appears to be isolated in empty outer-space, which spins - rotates around its magnetic centre of gravity at a rate of 1,000 miles per hour.
The Earth is a large spinning sphere of matter that appears to be isolated in empty outer-space, which possesses a surrounding electromagnetic field (Magnetosphere) generated from its magnetic centre of gravity.
However, although the Earth appears to be isolated in empty outer-space, it is categorical that for the Earth and its magnetosphere to exist and to be maintained in outer space, it is outer-space that must be the source for supplying the energy that is essential for fulfilling this task.
Therefore regardless of assumption based theories, and those theories wherein their authors have disingenuously circumvented the Natural Laws of Physics, to promote it for their own gains.
The laws of physics concerning the absolute necessity of there being an energy input and output, to fuel all actions and all reactions throughout the Cosmos.
Serves to confirm, that interstellar space is a universal and ubiquitous ocean of fundament energy existing at the quantum (infinitesimal) level of the Cosmos, whereby it exists “between any particle of matter in the universe and any other”.
And pervades through all matter of the Cosmos, to fuel all actions and reactions of the Cosmos.
      First Law of Thermodynamics
Energy may be converted but energy cannot be created or destroyed.
And the reason for this is that energy is cyclic in nature, in that it is converted from one level of energy to another higher or lower level of energy, via the means of addition (gravitation - coalescence - atomic bonding - fusion) or subtraction (atomic division - splitting - fission).
Which essentially means, that as neither additions or subtractions of energy can serve to destroy the fundamental nature and integrity of energy, so it is that although in can be cyclically converted it cannot be created or destroyed.
And the fundamental energy of the infinite and eternal interstellar oceans of our Cosmic Mother Nature, are the sum of all that has been, all that there is, all that will be.
Regardless of Lemaitre's disingenuous abracadabra Big Bang Theory, or the abracadabra Six Day Creation theory of Jewish Roman Capitalistic Theologians.
EINSTEINS GENERAL THEORY OF RELATIVITY GRAVITY
According to Einstein's original theory of gravity and acceleration, he stated that If a lift was taken into outer space and a light beam was shone laterally across the width of the lift, if the body of the lift was then upwardly accelerated, the light beam would bend down toward the floor of the lift, due to the downward acting force of gravity. A force which he maintained had a downward acting pushing effect, rather than an attractional effect as per the Oxford English dictionary definition of gravity.
      Oxford English Dictionary Gravity Physics:
Gravity: The force that attracts a body towards the centre of the Earth, or toward any other celestial body. Einstein also maintained all of his life that nothing could exceed the speed of light; however given that the light beam in the lift would be travelling at a speed of 300, 000 kilometer's per second.
it follows, that the amount of acceleration that would be needed to be applied to the physical structure of the lift in order to bend the light beam, would have to be in excess of the light beams speed of 300,000 kilometers per second.
Therefore, given that as all physicists would agree, it is impossible for any solid atom based structure to travel at or beyond the speed of light.
So it is that Einstein's General Theory of Relativity (Gravity) is totally disingenuous, and never was or has been worth the paper it was written on.
      Actual & Factual
Einstein was a late walker, talker and reader.
Einstein was a poor and tardy student.
Einstein Failed at Mathematics then used his friend’s notes to pass his next maths exam
Einstein did not qualify as a physicist. Einstein and his wife Mileva Maric*coincidentally* failed their finals with the same score of 59 out of 100 the pass being 60. However Einstein was given a pass, while Mileva a brilliant student was failed.

      5. Multiply the 120-centimetre Diametric Distance by 4, the Perimeter Length of the Circles Square is 480-centimetres.

      FACT !
GAS BONDING totally destroys Einstein's Space Bending and Newton's Gravity/Black Holes.
      Including Newton's apple !
All downward falling motion begins when active rising gas molecules in motion becomes trapped and motionless within the process of GAS BONDING, the making of solid objects with ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules falling downward.
This is scientificly known as the mechanism of GAS BONDING, which take on a state of solid mass, blocking out its electrons motion, it's fire power, thus becomes ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules falling downward in real time, fallowing it's Electrons Unlimited Potential Velocity, at the speed of light, connects with the earth ENERGY CONSERVATION SYSTEM, establishing a downward falling path, for trapped ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules/solid objects only.
Equating the above FACT with the physical universe, same as Einstein's E = MC2 equates with the physical universe.
E = ENERGY = MM = MOLECULE MOTION = Molecules in motion within star flames earth gases birds and balloons plains and rocket's , even us humans rise from molecules in motion, creating an ENERGY FLOW, the ruling force of the universe.
M = MASS = GB = GAS BONDING = Gas Bonding take on a state of solid mass, blocking out its electrons motion, it's fire power, thus becomes ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules falling downward in real time.
C2 = LIGHT SPEED = E = ELECTRONS = Electrons Unlimited Potential Velocity, at the speed of light, connects with the earth ENERGY CONSERVATION SYSTEM, establishing a downward falling path, for trapped ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules/solid objects only.
Gravity is a mythical concept that's mentally applied by Newton, solely to guarantee needed results to it's point of origin, the BRAIN !

As a visual learner, this does far more for me than lectures explaining the origins of the various parts of the equations and their implementation. It is a postulate of general relativity. However it can be derived with some assumptions. You can check out these lecture notes for 2 different derivations, in the chapter on gravitation www.preposterousuniverse.com/grnotes/
The first derivation you motivate it by taking the weak field limit and then generalize the classical Poisson equation. The second derivation is through the principle of least action. Too much to explain in a youtube comment, you'll want to read it yourself.
If you have not yet studied a lot of physics, it may take many years of studies before you'll be able to fully understand it.

General Relativity and Quantum Field Theory have actually blown my mind when under the influence of psychedelic drugs. If you already know the subjects well and try to work on them under the influence, you see a kaleidoscope of mathematics and gain a more intuitive understanding of the theories.
The subjects that have tripped me out most on mescaline or LSD are algebraic geometry and topology. I already felt like I was tripping for the first hour after leaving my graduate courses on the subjects.

Thanks for this. I started that series of video lectures that Stanford has on general relativity and while they cover a lot of math, they don't really put effort into visualizing it. So hopefully this combination can get me through.
