Instead of doing a iPhone SE 2020 Review I wanted to do the iPhone SE 2020 vs iPhone 8 Camera test because I figured iPhone 8 owners would need help to see if the iPhone SE 2020 is worth upgrading to. The SE's camera is slightly better than iPhone 8 as it uses iPhone 11's sensor . Plus it comes with Portrait Mode .

You can see the difference from the very start when you changed the audio from SE to 8. I had to increase my volume 25% more so I can hear😂. I though there was no audio for a moment. Really impressive.
Don't forget there can be dust in the speakers after this few years...

Thank you for this, not many compared the SE to the 8. They kept comparing to the 11/11 Pro/XR which isn't punching in the same level as the SE 2020.
The Iphone se is better then the IPhone XR the iPhone XR just have a bigger screen and better battery

I've been strongly considered to get the IPhone SE 2020 and this video of the image comparisons helped a lot! Deff get it upcoming new next month.
By some distance the best camera comparison that I’ve seen on CZcams with detailed explanation between the photos. I’m upgrading from an iPhone 6s so the difference that I’ll see will be even more pronounced.
Amazing video! Couldn’t have asked for a better comparison. I must respectfully disagree - I don’t believe it’s “worth an upgrade” from an 8 to an SE though, cause they still seem too similar in picture quality. Now my family who has the 6s (which shoots 4k and has a great camera in 2020) who are considering a new iPhone - I believe the SE would be worth the upgrade to. Again great side by side, and commentary 👏

Nice Advise for iPhone 8 owner : Keep them it isn't that hard to tap for focus right? Yeah SE does has better dynamic range but if your phone works fine just keep them.
Yeah just making a video for people that want to upgrade. No need to upgrade if you are happy. That goes for all phones.
I thought the same from the beginning. Not only the 8 colors look as good (if not better) but for most of the pictures I only need to press a certain part of the screen to have same results. To me its just the same camera with a better processor and some software upgrades.

I’d say even an iPhone 7 is still quite good, the SE is aimed for Android switchers or users with iPhone 6S or lower.

Quick tip for you iPhone 8/8 Plus/X user. Turn off auto HDR, so you can force them to turn on, HDR on iPhone 8/8 Plus/X is very very aggressive, if it’s on you can get a Xs class photo, but less sharp.

Ordered the new SE as I want my mobile to be, well...mobile. The size and price is amazing, so much so that I went for the 256GB model. The extra memory and the A13 chip ensures this phone will be good-to-go for at least 5 years. I always used to have the top of the range Apple phone but I’ve realised that there is no need as I have a iPad Pro and a MacBook Pro which I use for anything heavy.

I have a P20 Pro, got a Galaxy S20 Ultra (Exynos) about a month ago. I sent it back, due to crappy batterie time, it's super heavy and the pictures weren't even that great, compared to the P20 Pro, especially the nightshots. The 120Hz Display was basically the only thing that was cool.
Yesterday I got the new iPhone SE in white with 256GB. Even though the display is small and has 60Hz, I love this thing. It's so darn compact and has so much power for such a small phone, I love it. The autofocus on the camera is simply superb, also compared to the much more expensive S20 Ultra. Everything simply works out of the Box. I don't need 10 minutes to adjust dozens of parameters to get a good photo.
What am I missing: Maybe a 2500mah Batterie; 90Hz Display; Nightmode....that's basically it. And it could even have nightmode with a software update.

iPhone 8 held up better in photos than I expected but the Dynamic range in video on the SE is wipes it away
Wasn't aware image processing is such a big part of camera photo quality.
Yes SD 805 purpose was to process the best pic.....I owned a Galaxy note 4 it's camera was amazing

@What Are You On About Do the bezels matter that much though? You are losing a bit of vertical scrolling space, but the side bezels are similar or even slightly smaller than in iPhone 11 for example. Plus as a bonus you won't have to deal with a notch.
Totally agree . iPhone have brought out an ace with this phone this year. It will be one of their best sellers without doubt.
Great video! I just purchased an iPhone 8. Using it and have my 11 pro on standby. The form factor is much more convenient and it’s better than having a heavy brick in my pocket.

Got a second hand XR with the same price as new SE. Totally worth it.
Imo it's not enough to be a significant upgrade. Instead of taking from the successful model of the classic SE, they cheaped out on the SE 2's camera.
The classic SE used current gen (6s) camera hardware. The SE2 uses hardware 2 generations old (8)... The A13 helps a little but not enough .

Both have the aperture 1.8 cameras, so it may be possible that apple provides portrait mode to the iphone 8
I have iPhone 6, so I was not sure which one to buy, I’m use phone rarely (chatting, calling, listening to post cast and music) so I guess I will go with iPhone SE 2020.
Its a big jump in price from refurbished at least. Cant decide if saving 2/3's more of a refurbished iphone 8 is really worth it. Id's say, based on the camera, the answer is no, but for longevity, MAYBE iphone SE. Although both is gonna be heavily dated in 4-5 years with 5g etc coming and stuff evolving

I agree that the audio quality and the HDR is much better on the iPhone SE (2020). But the iPhone 8 still isn't that bad. But then again, I'm still on iPhone 7 Plus. Yea. I know. It's a noticeably outdated device. Hopefully this year I will be able to upgrade to an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

To my eyes Se camera is a marginal improvement over 8. If games aren't ur prime concern its ok to get an 8. However, slightly used se 128 are available at about 330$ in india. So thats what im. Planning on

No I don't think it's worth buying over the 8! When you can pic up a refurbished 8 for 200 less and the differences are not major... But better on the 8 more than 90% in my opinion.
