- The Sigma 18-35 1.8 is one of the most EXCITING APS-C lenses ever! In this video, I review the video & photo capabilites, build quality, manual focus, AUTOFOCUS, sharpness, vlogging, and more! It doesn't come in a Sony E-Mount version so I used the Sigma MC-11 Adapter to mount it on my Sony a6500.

*Have you used the Sigma 18-35 1.8? Do you want to?*
It's a great lens! I agree for most sports it doesn't have the range but for things like CrossFit and MMA where you can get a bit closer it's amazing!
Cool! I can see that being useful, there it’s more kind of ups and downs and not necessarily people running across your frame as much! Thanks for the input!
Definitely wouldn't mind trying out this lens in the future 😁
I don’t blame you!
Ahh I want to try it out so bad. Own the Simga 16 and 30mm on my a6300 and is so annoying to keep switching between during shoots. Thanks for the video review man! Really helped out !!
Sigma needs to make a Sony native version of this lens. It would instantly become the best selling e mount lens out there. Sigma plzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!! Great vid Man 👊🏻
Haha we need to start a petition!
Dunna Did It yes!!!!
Facts!! but Sigma wont do it because then people wouldn't buy the 20MM or 35MM ART they released earlier this year for Sony E mount.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking too... although, those are full frame lenses so there is some room there since full framers probably won’t pick this up.
Even if they will release it, they are just going to permanently attach mc-11 adapter to lens and call it a day. Like they did with whole lineup of art e-mount lenses. They will have to design a completely different lens to make it truly native.
I just want to say thank you for responding to these newer comments even though this video is almost a year old. Pure dedication!
Thanks for saying that! Merry Christmas!
This is by far the best channel I have found till now. He explains all the technical terms in a pretty easy manner to newbies and incisive.I really loved the vlogging style of putting up the entire video
Wow! Thanks so much Ashwin! I really appreciate the kind words!
I've taken some of my favorite photos with this lens. Having carried this lens with me around the US, Europe, and Africa, I can say that you touched on all the pros and cons of this lens. I would not hesitate to buy it again because it can truly capture some amazing images.
That’s awesome! It really is a great lens, you just have to decide whether you’re willing to work through the fallbacks. Thanks for your input!
Cheers!
Owning one of this atm. It REALLY helps take my overall knowlegde about fotography to the next level, specially when dealing with autofocus problems.
Haha I hear that for sure! I feel like my manual focus skills got stepped up when I had it!
The beauty of this lens is not only its IQ, but also its adaptability to many mirrorless mounts that don't have a fast f/1.8 zoom.
Yeah its pretty clutch for that f1.8 on a zoom lens.
HEYYY THAT WAS MY QUESTION!!!!! LITTTT! Anyway I vlog daily with this lens and after asking the question I saw that turning the autofocus speed I think it was to the lowest setting can help the noise just a bit, it's not super quiet but it does seem like it helped.
Haha you’ve officially made it lol! Thanks for the question! And thanks for the potential help. I’ve already sent the lens back to sigma, otherwise I’d test that out. But hopefully some other people get some help from it!
WOW!, Those are some really really good edits! Love the pics.
Thanks so much!
Been following you on Insta for a while but never checked your youtube. You're killing it brother!
Thanks Jon! I really appreciate you making your way over!
Just purchased this lens last week brand new to replaced my Sigma 17-50 f2.8.
Love the lens much sharper than my former Sigma 17-50 f2.8.
i used this lens for years on the 80D canon...i ever loved it. Now i am a professionist and use it in video on the sony 6400!!!
That’s awesome!
Looking at this for a std zoom on my 6400 w/mc11. Whats your take on the AF issues?
Did you find the lack of stabilisation in video an issue with the a6400? I'm stuck between this or the A7ii
@@jacklawson2597 I mean, yes, for handheld video even at super wide FoV its shaky and I wouldn't use it ever. 6400 requires gimbal/fluid head for use without any stabilization. That said, with a decent OSS lens its manageable. But none of my sigmas do that sort of fancy stuff.
@@knok2222 Yea this what I worry about I may I think i might splash out a bit of the a6600, although I lose out on some of the full frame gmaster lenses I think they can still work for video on a aps-c.
I use this on the Sigma SD1M -- No AF noise without an adapter and AF is snappy and pretty accurate -- and it functions spectacularly on the Foveon sensor. Thanks for the review on the Sony with the adapter -- may be used on my Sony bodies...
Thanks for this detailed review
I finally see this setup at youtube, thanks for the video!!!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I’m glad you confirmed and touched on the topic of it being loud with autofocus. I’m getting quite a lot of dislikes on my review video on this lens due to the fact that many disagree. Just weird because there’s a ton of people who also agree down in the comments. 🤷🏼♂️
Grazie per aver chiarito molti dei punti interrogativi che avevo. sei stato chiaro e molto molto esaustivo. complimenti.
Best review ever for this lens ✌️
Thank you so much!
Love that lens, the rendering is soo good used it on a canon. in the sony ecosystem try it on a a7III because of the AF in crop mode. still useable at 35mm in super 35
Yeah it's so beautiful hey! When I finally pull the trigger on full frame I'll have to try it again!
Before I went to full frame this was by far my favorite lens.Probably the sharpest glass I have ever owned
Soooo sharp!
Great info, thanks for the vid!!
My pleasure Paul! Thanks for watching!
Hi Dunna thanks for the review,
Got excite when I saw the title, I was hoping to have two in one, but I guess I’ll get the 30mm, I already have the 16mm, and carry that extra lense. Thanks again you always have great reviews!!!
Hey Ramon! Thanks for watching! Yeah that’s kind of what I was hoping for too lol! I thought maybe I could sell my 16 and 30 and just have this but until they make an e mount version it seems like I’ll be keeping those ones (which are fantastic so I’m happy lol)
@@dunnadidit But the 16mm and 30mm are the non art version. Do you think have some differents between art and non art version?
The art versions are made for full frame cameras. So they are going to be bigger, and heavier and a lot more expensive. That being said, they may also perform better (on full frame cameras)
Great review. This lens is amazing.
Thanks so much! Yeah it really is.
This was really useful. Knowing what you shared actually helped me not, buy this for the intended purpose. Surprised Sigma don’t do this for Sony e-Mount yet. Great review, keep up the work
I really love ur channel keep it up bro ❤️👌🏻
Thanks so much!!
Thanks for the review and for mentioning the Canadian prices too!
My pleasure! Because I’m from Canada too that’s always what I find first, but most of my viewers are from the US so I had to start finding the conversion haha!
DAANNNGGG... That studio is lookin' good! 😏
Oh and all that gorgeous merch too!!
Just the most aesthetically pleasing business known to humankind!
This is the first video i've seen from your channel. Really liked it. Your audio is great. Can you please tell me how did you shoot that much great crisp audio outdoor? (Equipment & settings) Please tell me both.
Hey thank you so much! I actually explain all of my audio setups in this video czcams.com/video/eTG-4KIaq0o/video.html for the crisp outdoor stuff I was using the cheap lav plugged into my phone!
Would definitely consider it down the road if they came out with an e-mount. Until then I will stick to my 16 & 30mm. Great vid
That’s totally where I’m at too! Thanks for watching!
Thanks mate. This video helped a lot. Cheers
Glad to hear it! Cheers!
You are making me fall in love with Sony camera
Lol! They are great!!
Amazing combo. Do you test versus 18-50 2.8? Thanks
you beat me to making this video!!! noooooo hahahah always love your reviews though to the point and fun!
Haha sorry Victor! I’m sure you can still do it lol! Thanks for watching I’m glad you enjoy!
Please do another review.. great improvement especially on the mc11. Big improvement. I’m using it on my fuji XT4 and Sony a6600 ..
Great review! This lens is a beast even after so many years! Which mount would you recommend for an A6000 user?
Great video! I own this lens and use it every single time I pick up my camera. Not sure if anyone asked before, but if you don't mind...what lens/camera combo you used to shoot this video? I love the look!
Nice! I shot the video with the a6500 and the sigma 16mm f1.4 for the most part 😁
Sigma 18-355 for the win!! I love my Sigma 18-35mm for everything. Videos and photos it's a beast and stay on my a6300 95% if the time, unless I'm shooting real estate video, which I use my Rokinon 12mm f2. Dope video Dunna!
NICE! That image quality is just incredible isn’t it! Thanks so much for sharing!
@@dunnadidit yeah when I first began shooting with this lens, it changed everything for me. Great lens!
If you thought the Sigma 18-35 was big. I can only image how big the Sigma 18-355 would be lol.
@@timberwolves100 lol my bad.
Really loves your vidéos 😊
Thank you so much! 🙏
Dude this set up costs way less now and will be bomb on the fx30! Thanks for making this video (who knew how helpful it’d be 3 years later!)
I'm literally here because I'm looking at the fx30 as well. enjoy the setup man!!!
I have the FX30 and this Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 and I'm thinking of getting the MC-11 but I wonder if it will be worth it for video only. The Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 doesn't seem to be A LOT better than my Sony 18-105mmf4...a bit better in low light maybe but a f1.8 lens is something else. I wonder if the MC-11 adapter REALLY works well for video in 2023...new firmwares and all...any one has the combo in 2023? I would use it on a monopod or a Ronin S...
Great video. I'm curious about using flexible spot for focus. Did you try that? I have the Canon nifty fifty which is not listed as compatible with the MC-11 adapter but it focuses quite well using flexible spot. If this lens performs similarly, it's a no-brainer for me to buy.
Thanks for the awesome review of this lens..I'm using this lens right now on my canon 700D and will be shifting to sony a6400 soon..what sony adapter do you prefer for better video quality?
Man..U deserve more subscribers
Thank you... TELL YOUR FRIENDS HAHA 🤪😂
The duck at 4:44 killed me 😂
Lol!
I got this lens and also got the MC-11 adapter. The adapter fits my camera body Sony ZV-E10 but the lens does not fit the adapter. I use a Sony E mount and the MC-11 adapter says Canon EF-E. Is there another adapter that works???
I proudly own the Nikon version. This lens is the only reason that keeps me from switching to mirrorless.
Build quality, sharpness, constant f1.8 aperture, 24-70 (ish) f2.8 fullframe equivalent: the best lens for the APS-C system so far. Please Sigma release a native E-mount version.
I totally hear you! We need an e mount version!!
It's not anywhere near 24-70ish. It's 28-53mm... 24 is significantly wider and 70 decently more telephoto
Sigma clearly had the 24-70 2.8 in mind when designing this lens. There is no other lens in the APS-C system that can compete with a 24-70 2.8 on fullframe. Something like a 16-45 1.8 would have been much closer yet significatively heavier (just like a 24-70 2.8 if not even more).
@@emilianocalvi1118 I would disagree, Sigma set out to create a 3prime zoom. 28,34,50. All normal to normal wide focal lengths. They made this compromise to get 2.8 equiv dof FF; but this lens has no where near the versatility of a 24-70.
Looks at tamrons 28-75 2.8 for Sony FE mount and see a similar lens at a similar price, except it gets the full tele end. 24mm is a big deal to give up
@Chris I’m not saying this lens is perfect (no stabilization, no weather sealing, and yes limited focal range), but I think it’s the best compromise for APS-C. Of course the 24-70 on FF has many advantages, but the FF setup is really expensive.
Sigma is trying to revitalize the APS-C with the 18-35, 50-100 and E-mount primes (16/30/56), something you will never see from Canon/Nikon/Sony because they sell their FF lenses hoping you will switch to an expensive FF camera in the future.
great video! I would just advise the shutter speed to be higher on an APSC censor to match the full frame equivalent (x1.5 ou 1.6 for canon users) to avoid motion blur while taking pictures.
Good input!
Thanks for the video Dunna! I’m from Brazil and I’m thinking about buying a a6500 but still in doubt about buying the 16mm and 30mm or the 18-35mm. I’ll do both photography and videography. But I think that I’m going to the 16 and 30! Congrats for the video and keep doing this awesome job! 👊🏻🎥📸
Thanks for watching and greetings from Canada 🇨🇦! Yeah I know it’s a hard choice, I’m very happy with my 16 and 30mm for now and hopefully they do an e mount version of this lens some day!
Yeah, it would be great if Sigma do the e mount version of this lens! But until then, no big problem in switching between the 16mm and 30mm sometimes when we need! haha
Someone brought up a good point that with clear image zoom you can go 16-32 with the 16mm too!
Dunna Did It that’s true. Is not exactly a 32mm but it works! 😄
😁😁👍
This is still my dream lens, but I decided to only buy it if they make an e-mount version of it. I’m getting the 16 and 30 1.4 instead. Tough to have to change lenses, but they’re e-mount from the box!
That’s exactly where I’m at right now! I have both of them and love them, it would be nice to have this lens and all the awesomeness that comes with it but you also lose a bunch too.
Just get an extra used A6000 body for $3-400 and you won't have to change lenses and total weight might even be less.
Lol I have an extra a6500 and I definitely do this sometimes, sling up two cameras. I need to get one of those dual holster looking camera straps.
If you are going to use a holster, I would use a single along with the 18-35 and become the Dirty Harry photographer.
"I know what you're thinking...have I used up 9/10 battery life or 10. But being that this is a Sigma 18-35 1.8, the most powerful lens ever made and could easily knock your head shot off with just one click, you have to ask yourself one question - Do I feel lucky...well do ya, Punk!"
Actually this could be a fun script for your next video ;-)
This comment is the best ☝️ I need that clip haha.
Hey man, how are you? For this test, did you use the EF version of this lens, with the canon to sony adapter, or did you use the Sony A mount with the A to E adapter? I have this lens with a Canon 80D, but I'm about to buy the a6400, and I'd love to keep this lens, but I want to know what works best and decide around that (EF to E, or A to E).
I used the EF version with the mc11 elf adapter. Hope that helps!
@@dunnadidit it does. Thanks for answering. And what would you do for yout CZcams channel, would you keep the 18-35 with the adapter, or would you sell it and go for both, the 16mm 1.4, and the 30mm 1.4? This is for my CZcams channel too: it's a tech related channel, with lots of product b-roll.
Hi man! Thanks you for video. What you use now sigma 16+30 or 18-35? I want to make minimalistic and versatile kit. And shoot run and gun, but cinimatic. Also on gimbal. So think, that better 🤔
I use the 16 & 30, the 18-35 was just on loan for the review. But it had a few too many drawbacks after adapting so I still prefer the 16 and 30
Dunna Did It understand! Thank you for answer
My pleasure!
Who is the new clean shaven guy in your video?! Haha lookin sharp sir! Love the shots you got with this lens too. And love the Resonate shirts! :D
Someone kidnapped beard Dunna and replaced him with this younger Dunna! Haha thanks at always Kaitlin!
Hahaha magic! And you're welcome, of course ^_^ hope you have a good one!
🙏🙏😁
Hi Dunna, loved ur videos ... just wanted to know do you still love ur Sony 18-105 lens after you bought Sigma 16mm.... because ur videos got better after Sigma 16mm.
i can't decide should i buy 18-105 now /// although my main purpose is Video, and the lenses which i own are Sony 50mm 1.8 & Sony 16mm 2.8.... please guide, thankyou so much love from India 🙏
Hey Shekhar! Thanks for the kind words! Yes I absolutely love my 18-105 still, a lot of the reason my videos got better is because I bought my Sony a6500 around the same time I got my 16mm sigma. That being said, I still use both the 16mm sigma and my 18-105 almost every day. They are both wonderful lenses. I still highly recommend it as a nice all around versatile lens!
can I use Nikon version of this lens on sony e mount cameras ? will af works well? coz i have a Nikon version of this and I really want to switch to sony and i don't want to sell this beast
As a purely amateur/hobby photographer; would you recommend the Sigma 18-35 1.8 or start with the Sigma 16 1.4?
I'm upgrading from the kit lens.
After you attached the Sigma lens onto the adapter, that solid green light on the adapter would stay on forever or it goes off right away??
Great lens, I am using this with my Nikon D7200 and it definitely is heavier than using a prime, however, great image quality. In terms of image stabilisation, from a photography point of view just use higher shutter and you will be fine. Would have liked to see weather sealing on it nonetheless.
Fantastic video Dunna! Please make a video on the new Sigma releases 56mm 1.4 DC DN and 40 mm and 40 mm 1.4 DG HSM Art if Sigma is willing to send them to you for a test. Looking forward to these lenses.
Yeah weather sealing would have been a nice addition for sure!
I’ll definitely see if they’ll kick those lenses my way! Thanks for the suggestion!
Very good video! Greetings from Germany!
Thank you so much! Cheers from Canada!
Love this review.
Thanks June! I’m so glad!
Dunna Did It keep it up mate I’m your fan. And Thanks for your time making good videos for us. Should do more wild life features tho. :)
Thanks a ton! I’ll try to see if my cat wants a feature video!
Good vid man , big help , anyways did you used sigma usb dock for this lens?
Thanks! No I didn’t have the dock
Is it interesting to buy this lens with the adapter. And grab one speedbooster for my gh4? Is it possible?
Got this (used) for ~350 USD and it's a great lens. Thanks for the review.
Great video but I would like to know what you think about a Sony a64000 and on DJI RSC 2 you recommend the set up? would the e mount still work great?
You should add the crop factor for the 1 over focal length calculation. On 18 it will be 30th of a second minimum.
Very true,! It is the reciprocal of the “effective” focal length. I suppose I could have been more clear there. Thanks for bringing that up!
Whats up Dunna!
Been eyeing this lens for about 2years. When I was using the Canon 700d, I tested it out. Everything is great but the downside is the weight. Glad you came out with this vid! 🤘Might get it for my Sony A6000.
Ehhh!
Yeah everyone’s always talking about it, I think everyone I know has said the same thing about eyeing it up lol.
I think it would be great on the a6000 for certain things for sure!
If Sigma were to make the 18-35mm into e mount, it’s gonna be like the other art lenses.
Well it is an art lens! Do you mean it will be awesome?
I meant the full frame art lens. If they were to do so, it’ll be pretty pricey.
Ah yeah totally!
Should i get this or the canon 24-70 2.8 version 1?
Which do you prefer between this and the sigma 16m 1.4?
I've had this lens for well over a year and use speedbooster on my Panasonic G85 and it's nothing short of amazing!! in fact my friend that helps me film wedding loved it so much he finally broke down and bought one and a speed adapter. The by fair is not only one of they best lenses but for the price of around $800 new your crazy not to get it. Also being said I have a sigma 70-200 2.8 the zoom and focus is amazing Sigma knows how to make a great high quality lens at great price
Thats great! Thanks so much for sharing! Which speed booster are you using?
I got it on Ebay it's like a generic. I can't change things like aperture or anything but low lighting it's amazing
Cool!
For wedding films I’m going to continue to use the 16 & 30mm. They are f1.4, sharp as hell. they perform well and priced right. I use them on a A6500 on a gimbal
I couldn’t agree more! Great choice!
I have a canon t6i ASPC 24 MP Would the Sony A7IV in crop mode for photos be better than the old camera I have now?? I plan to get Sony glass but just want to use the aspc glass to hold me over for the mean time! Thanks
I had it before, excellent optics even at 1.8 but this sony combo is heavy. It is front heavy making it unbalanced for zhiyun crane (version 1) , tho havent tested with crane 2 since i sold this lens already. The af motor is loud, every ticking noise is caught by on-board mic. Sigma 16 or 30 is the more fit lens for a6000/6300/6500, make it daily casual use or gimbal work. This 18-35 is best for tripod
Great input! Thanks Ben!
So i should get this for my a6000?
Hey! Will this lens work with other adapters, like the one from Nikon LA-FE1? I have my old Nikon D7200 with some lenses, including Sigma 18-35 1.8, and I would like to know if I can use them on my Sony a7III. MC-11 supports only Sigma lenses, but I'd love to use those Nikkors.
good review, I want to ask you I have a sigma 18-35mm and I bought the Sigma SA-A e-mount adapter and it does not work I think it is specific for my sigma 18-35mm lens that has logo A let me know which adapter works for me
Thanks a lot! :)
No problem Boris!
Use a full frame camera like the a7 series I would suggest a7ii+ since it has 5 axis image stabilization and pair it with mc 11 adapt. Use aps c mode 18mm is about 24mm in full frame it’s not that wide.
I was using the a6500 which is a crop camera with 5 axis ibis. So I was getting to use the whole sensor. Maybe I’m not sure what you’re suggesting other than me buying a new camera lol
Would this mount work on Sony A7 II or A7 III as well? Love this lens but thinking it's time to upgrade from the Nikon D7000 and get some nicer video capture capability.
I was just wondering about the loss of pixel depth when shooting in crop mode or super 35 on the a7iii full frame, which wasn't mentioned in this video. Is there a considerable loss?
If you have to choose between Sigma Art 18-35 f1.8 DC HSM and Canon EF 24-70mm f/4.0L IS USM Lens for Canon 80D, what would you choose and why?
mainly for portrait, landscape, buildings and just everyday-stuffs.
18-35 all day, that lens is so sharp and awesome and on apsc cameras like the 80D, that focal length will be better for landscape too.
Hey, as always great video, would you recommend the Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art e-mount for my A6300 for portraits, do you think it will be a good investment or should I go for the 18-35 1.8 ART???yhanks
For portraits, I would suggest the 56mm dc dn for apsc. Or the 18-35 if you’re ok with adapted lenses.
You can also get rid of the autofocus noise with audio plugins in the Video editor you have. Waves has some
I tried that actually (I'm an audio engineer as my full time job) and generally, to get rid of the noise from the lens, I had to mangle my audio so bad that the other audio was unsalvageable afterwards.
@@dunnadidit which plugin did you use?
I tried a whole bunch of em! Waves, Izotope, built in premiere ones, accusonus, all sorts!
It’s an amazing lens, very fast (shot with canon) in my opinion and very nice upgrade.
Agreed! If you are using a native mount that this lens comes in, it’s pretty much a no-brainer!
Hey, I have an a6300, and have this Sigma, is it worth to use has static camera? Even vloging, with all that weight?
I've used this lens on my A7iii and wow. What a combination!
Did you use it with the mc-11 adapter?
@@dunnadidit yes I did. Gorgeous!!! Great review.
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Your answers are very helpful to me lately. One more question, is it for Canon EF (EF-S) mount?
That’s great to hear! Yup! The one that I used was EF mount.
@@dunnadidit Great. 😁
Hello! I have the same equipment as you with a RONIN SC and I can't stabilize it, since all its weight goes forward. My query is which Gimbal to buy? :(
My next lens: 16mm 1.4 or 18-35 1.8? I was going to buy the 16mm, but now that i have watched this video im not sure. I have a sony a6300 with the kit lens, so i have a zoom lens but... the 18-35 so nicee. What do you guys think?
Build quality, functions, sharpness are far superior on the 18-35 1.8 versus the 16-50 kit. Sell your 16-50, get this and a 50mm and you're good to go.
This thing is definitely a great lens! Just have to decide if you can get around the couple drawbacks.
18-35 its one of the best versatile lens for crop sensors.
I own both lenses and I tend to use the 18-35 f1.8 when I'm going handheld. I only take out the 16mm when i need to use a gimbal.
@@EwanLim buy if u re using gimbal, would you put 18-35 ? is it work?
Works great on my A7iii with a Vello adapter. Good way to save a few bucks.
..question---is there an adopter for sony E mount lenses to go on sony A mount cameras????
What adapter shall I use if I use it on a Sony A6000
do you know if there is any other/better converters for this setup. i just bought an 18-35 A mount for my A6300 and now can’t decide on a converter? Also, do you still shoot with it and how are you liking it now that you’ve used it for a while? thanks man!
Not that I’m aware of, I think the mc-11 is supposed to be the best one. Unfortunately I was just borrowing this from sigma Canada for the review so I don’t still have it.
great review. The auto focus couldn't be louder. I have this lens by the way.
Thanks so much! I know right?? That was a bit tough for me to deal with.
Yeah the only other complaint I have is it does miss focus sometimes taking photos.
Sounds like we had the same experience.
best zoom and fast lens for sony a6000?
My prognostication: Sigma will release a version 2 of this within the next six months and it will also be available in E-mount and will have a much quieter AF motor.
Yeah we can hope and wish! But they just announced a bunch of new stuff and guess what... none of the zooms have e mount... what the heck sigma!
Mine has an ever so tiny slip on the focus ring - does yours has that as well?
Today i have purchased Sigma MC-11 adapter for my Sony A7 iv camera and for my Canon L, Sigma ART and for Tamron G1 lenses, autofocus doesn't work for video, it sometime works a few seconds and then stops, with photo AF works perfect, no any issues, but it is useless for video, what you recommend? will Metabones mark IV adapter work and support AF for video with A7iv and Canon AF lenses?
The MC-11 is supposed to work ONLY with Sigma lenses...so the ART should work (the adapter will mount with Canon FE lenses but not FE-S and no autofocus on video for Canon-only Sigma)-I did some research...I'm debating buying the MC-11...
About a year ago I sold this lens because of the noise and weight and did the sigma trio thing. I shoot music videos and use a gimbal it’s a hassle switching lens and rebalancing all the time doing that kills the vibe of a shoot. So I recently bought it again and using it with the improved auto focus of the a6600 auto focus is great. I used it with the a63 and 6500 before. Plus the extra weight is a bonus when filming hand held and not switching lens helps with no getting sensor dust.
I have the FX30 which should have even better autofocus than the A6600...so for you the MC-11 and the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 work perfectly? no focus hunting? f1.8 is amazing for APSC...I don't want to buy the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 to replace my Sony 18-105mm f4 even if I gain a bit more in low light...any samples I can see of your videos? thanks- I'm 2 years late I know!
@@TheFandangovideoguy none what so ever
@@ReggieWard wow..ok...I may look for the mc-11 and give it a try...that Sigma 18-35mm is still one of the better ones for APSC. Thanks
I bought an MC-11 adapter for my sigma 18-35 and it didn’t fit for some reason even after I took it to best buy. Do you have any idea why that’s happening or can you recommend me some other adapters that might work the lens?
hi is it okay if mount it on my gimbal Moza Aircross?
How would you say this compares to the more expensive 16-55 2.8 G that came out recently ?
I would definitely go with the Sony lens just for the fact that you don’t need an adapter and it’s got all the new bells and whistles. It’s a killer lens.
Hey man just a question: my lens dropped on the floor but fortunately, did not brake. The question is: the focus wheel rotate endless also in yours? thank you
Mine was just a loaner so I don't have it anymore but if I remember correctly, it rotated endlessly but had little click feeling when it hit the end of the focus range.
Autofocus' noise can be reduced or muted if you enter in manu and decrease the "Audio Rec Level". You can't hear the noise in vol: 16
Even if that did work, that just turns down the microphone level... what if you need it to be louder for the other audio sources you're trying to record, then you'll turn it back up in post and you'll be able to hear it again. All that said, I had issues with or without an external microphone and with the level turned down anyway. Most lenses, the noise is barely audible unless you put your ear right next to the lens, this one I could hear several feet away.
@@dunnadidit
You're right. The noise is an annoying problem, and if you turn up the volume you can hear it again. But generally the audio that is being recorded is greater than the noise, even with vol: 16 (for me it's a good volume to record the scenes).
That was the only way I found to solve this problem, but it's still annoying. And yes, with sigma lenses for Sony, the noise is much lower, and you can only hear when the auto-focus is adjusting, and not at all time like this lens. If you find a solution, please let me know!!
I’ll keep my eyes open for a fix!
