Hi my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent come from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.
I just bought a tiny house thats partially unfinished for 22,000. Got lucky my landlord found it for me. Then my son found me 2 acres of land for a really good price and now this summer Im moving out of the city and out to the swamp. Id rather hear crickets and plant lemongrass then be in the city for my old age.

Oh Emi, I love lemon ginger tea. It's one of my favorite. I never thought to put cinnamon with it. I'll tell you a secret. When I make my cup of coffee now and then I put ginger, timeruc and little cayenne pepper in it. It warms me up on a cold winter day. It was fun to see your first video. Thank you for sharing. Quick tip I got from an old Belizian woman - use a spoon to gently scrape off the ginger skin. Waste not want not.

I think you have good instincts. You knew instinctively when it was time to start CZcams. Your path is different than most nut it is the right path for you. You gotta do you. You go girl! 😉
Hi. I like Ginger + garlic+honey+ half lemon and hot water drink. It is not tea because no tea leaves. Just like your drink.
I use 0,7 litre mug for it
1cm2 ginger, one garlic finger, one soup spoon of honey and half lemon

Just a thought...they mess with your head so much you're lucky to get out of bed in the morning. The planning it takes to pack and go is simply terrifying. Of course it's different for everyone. If you have seen an elephant with a rope around one leg and realize her could free himself with one pull and doesn't. They you would begin to understand why it's so hard.

That tea looks great. At this time, I have ginger lemon tea bags, so good yes, but I think I’ll add cinnamon, thank you. Yum.😊
Fresh is always best. Using a spoon to scrape off skin from fresh ginger makes it much easier and less waste. You probably don’t have a small freezer, but ginger can be stored in freezer long time, break off a knob or pre-break prior to freezing.
Appears you eat healthy. That breakfast looked like it would be tasty and wake you up with that tart green apple.
Have you ever brewed coffee with pinch o’ cinnamon? It’s incredibly good. I used to use the cinnamon vanilla fake creamer, but learned it was unhealthy. Best to use real cream adding your own spice. So now I usually go without, and as treat occasionally use “half ‘n half”.

Awww MzKitty is full of herself today climbing that tree , how sweet. Emmy you have become one of my favorite CZcamsrs and I just found you a month ago . Chrome is pretty great too 😉 .If I ever muster up enough courage I'm gonna try the nomad life one day, should be OK because I have the soul of a wandering gypsy .

Delicious tea recipe! Very healthy. I add turmeric root and it’s amazing too. Garlic can be added, a great health tonic and I pour lemon juice in the end (with honey but not necessary.) The scenery was so pretty!! Thanks for sharing this with us!

My favorite tea is mint, lemon and ginger. I love it cold or hot!
Easily peel ginger by scraping it with a teaspoon, bowl facing you & opening pointing down.

I love ginger tea. Both using fresh ginger or ginger tea bags with only ginger no tea leaves. Perhaps a herbal drink but that's just semantics. IMO 😊

No tea bag in the pot? It's an herbal hot drink then, in my book
Be careful with eating a lot of Cinnamon some of the cheaper varieties from chinese, Vietnamese can have some toxicity when you consume a lot, like I do and it sounds like you do as well. The toxic impacts can be to damaging to the liver with prolonged use of 5 g or 1 teaspoon/day. The prefered variety is Ceylon cinnamon it does not contain coumarin, the toxic ingredient.
Loved seeing Kitty galloping for the tree then up, tail slashing from sit to side. My Marmaduke does the same. His happy spot is up a tree. I now carry telescopic ladder in the back of my van for that reason.

You doing just fine. Enjoy your videos. How did you get your cat to walk on a lease.? My cat is about 8 years. I am trying to get him to walk on a lease. He not having it. He love going outside. I just want to keep him safe. I heard some people moved in the neighborhood that don't like cats. I am thinking about screening in my porch. That might be an option.

I think your looking for reasons to get a different van, but if you do you will have to build that one from scratch. New vans will have new problems. Fix what you have Emi. That rust isn't going to stop you. Price of new vans is ridiculous. They do make parts for your van. Save your money
I'm not looking for a new van. I never had any mechanical problems with this one. Why would I change?

Cat lady, that sounds of the engine is bad when first starts in the morning. Lots of wear and tear making it sound as loose until the oil gets on the lifters and crankshaft and rod bearings. Yeah, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's either time for a rebuild or get another engine or a new van 😮...❤ Love and peace sister
