    Excellent video. Concise narration and very clear. I have just changed the one on my R53. Thanks very much.

    Great vid, I tried to "cheat" and not remove everything but this vid straightened me out. Note that you may need to trim your hose to make it fit properly. I used the DDM Works but even after trimming was still a bit misaligned, but I made it work.

    Excellent. very helpful. Interesting to note, my hose also was ripped in the same exact spot. Wonder if that's common due to air flow or just a coincidence

      Thanks, I think it's a common thing. I used to have an E46 330i many years ago and that did the same thing even with a replacement hose from BMW.

    What's the pipe called that takes in air from just above the radiator that goes under your silicone hose?

    Very informative yet still a simple video. I'm about to change mine but I couldn't figure out what clamp sizes do I need. Any guidance?

    I would like to get rid of the part that connects the airbox to the front the of the car, the one that brings cold air into the box. The long tube at the bottom and the weird holes close to the air entrance does nothing but make the intake quieter. There wouldn't be any performance gain, but I like hearing the intake sucking air!

      I know what you mean. I think you're right the long bit that sticks down is probably some sort of resonator that quietens things down. The path that whole tube takes is very strange. I think you'd be able to easily replace the factory plastic pipe with something like that expandable corrugated hose like you get with K&N induction kits, or Aeroduct pipe.

    if there is a hole in this would my engine light come on? I do have a hole but I just covered it with tape, but I think it's come off and the light has come on.

    So this is how all the airbox screw threads get stripped.😉

    Thank you for this. My 2009 Cooper Clubman s was giving off a whining noise and was loosing power in Acceleration.
    Local mechanic pointed me to this hose to the supercharger.
    Can you confirm, does a cracks in this hose really relate to the power loss in acceleration? Or am I looking at something more expensive?

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  Před 2 lety

      Hi, Isn't the 2009 an R56 so it's Turbocharged not Supercharged. If so then it's very feasible that a leaking hose can cause power loss. But it could also be a number of other things - BMW hoses are bad for splitting so check them all over as you'll see if they are cracked. I'm not too familiar with the turbo mini's unfortunately.

      It was from these guys: stores.ebay.co.uk/ikonmotorsport/ but they don't seem to have it listed you could contact them and ask if they still make them. Otherwise you could buy the Direnza one which is similar in price: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151297105560
