  • Don't destroy your exhaust like this person! Just a quick, funny video to show how NOT to modify your motorcycle exhaust can for increased flow and horsepower. Demonstrated on an OEM exhaust can from a 1997 Suzuki Bandit GSF1200S.

Fail at trying to take the baffle out. It’s possible to get it out you just have to twist and turn. I took the baffle out of my zx600e exhaust today and thought I was never gonna get it but I twisted and turned and eventually it came free

I think that exhaust modification is all to frequent.

Hopefully they have better success than whoever did this one and left the baffle rattling around. The 😏

you can still modify it...you need cutting welding and grind it properly...

I need a question answered ASAP.. on my 91 NightHawk 250 can I remove the baffles on stock exhaust or do the baffles create the backpressure/ compresion needed for the bike to run properly? Thank you..I'll wait a cpl hours to see if I'm answered before I yank these baffles out lol

You can remove them without causing harm, but you're not going to gain anything aside from a louder exhaust. You won't gain any performance improvements because you will have done nothing to increase fuel intake and combustion power. But if all you want is the louder exhaust, then you could give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always put it back in. You may experience some popping or backfire sounds, especially when you decelerate, but I don't expect you'd notice any negative drivability issues. If so, you could probably get away with turning your idle mix screw on the carburetor a very small amount (1/8 turn counterclockwise) to give the engine a little more fuel.
Now, if you were to pull your baffles along with installing a high flow air filter or modifying your air intake, without doing any tuning to the carburetor, you're going to have negative effects. You'd end up running to lean and hot and for sure having the popping and backfiring sounds.
If you pull the baffle for sound reasons, and you're not planning on doing any carburetor tuning, definitely leave your air intake and air filter stock. But if you plan on having a high performance air filter or modified air intake along with removing the baffle, you need to commit to modifying the carburetor as well. That's a whole other discussion.
I'm not a schooled mechanic. I'm speaking from personal experience, and I'm self-taught. Always keep that in mind when getting help from people online. 😉

I was about to order a 2 into1 tec system for my 650 Interceptor, so I thought why not experiment and drill 15mm holes front and back. I did.. It sounded so good I forgot about tec. Now it has a civilized bark! Same weight but much nicer sound. Save-yer-money 😆
