What’s the movie Pulp Fiction about?
Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, Pulp Fiction follows the mission of two hitmen, Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta), out to retrieve a suitcase stolen from their employer, mob boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames). Wallace has also asked Vincent to take his wife Mia (Uma Thurman) out a few days later when Wallace himself will be out of town. Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis) is an aging boxer who is paid by Wallace to lose his next fight. Honey Bunny and Pumpkin (Tim Roth) are a couple of young lovers and small-time thieves who decide they need a change of venue. The lives of these seemingly unrelated people are woven together in a wildly entertaining and exhilarating motion picture adventure that both thrills and amuses.

Just the sheer audacity of Vincent to ask him to say "please" when he carelessly got them there in the first place.
I like that film show us constantly whata dick he is lol
It is Vincent's irreverence that ultimately gets him killed.
Vincent had a tendency to make tense situations worse. Screwing with Mr. Wolfe, accidentally contributing to Mia's overdose, getting blood all over Jimmy's washcloths and towels, talking garbage to Butch at Marcellus' bar, antagonizing Honey Bunny during the standoff, etc...
Vincent makes situations worse and he always goes to the bathroom before tge s**t hits the fan.
@@jesusnthedaisychain Seems only inevitable that he gets shot and killed coming out of a bathroom which is what happened.
If you really think about it, Vince killed Marvin on purpose. His finger was in the trigger the whole time, and he was kinda weirded out about Marvin "forgetting" that Alexis Arquette was in the shitter with a Python.
He only said it was a bump cause he didn't wanna tell Jules and Marsellus that he didn't trust their inside man.
Still an asshole though, he fucked up everyone's day that day.
"Pretty please, with sugar on top, clean the fucking car"
still one of my most favorite lines in any movie
My favorite is John Travolta telling about his Malibu getting keyed "It'd be worth him doing it for me to catch him doing it."
Mine is "Aww man I shot Marvin in the face"
But all the sugar is in yout coffee.

I like how this master problem solver just told them to clean the mess like they couldn’t think of that themselves
That's what makes the character so great. All he does is instruct them to do the most obvious of things. And yet, he's presented as (and carries himself as) a genius. It's absolutely brilliant!
It's pretty simple actually, he is a calm third party to people who aren't thinking straight
Yeah i never understood this scene. Maybe Tarantino is just such a brilliant writer and I just dont understand it blahblah blahhhh
getting rid of the body andf the car is part of problem solving. everything thats happening here is getting the car ready to be moved without unwanted problems
It's implied the Mr. Wolf will take the cleaned car/body and get rid of it so it doesn't come back to them that's the problem he's solving. He is just trying to get the car passable for road travel so he doesn't stand out, meaning if they don't do a good job Mr. Wolf will get caught in a car drenched in blood with a body in the trunk. So him being a little terse is understandable.
In any cliche Hollywood movie, Mr. Wolf would've said he liked his coffee black. But in a Tarantino film, it's lotsa cream, lotsa sugar...
@Phoroth Gaiaoa what are you? A fake man?
I thought that too, didn't expect it but it's great, he's like me!!
Mr. Wolf doesn't need coffee to stay awake and get his brain from 30% performance to 60% performance, as most black coffee drinkers would. He needs coffee for extra blood pressure, sugar for immediate infusion of energy, and cream for extended infusion of energy, to bring his brain performance from 100% to 120%.
Also, he needs Jimmie out of the garage, because Jimmie looking too much at the massacre is potential trouble, but demanding Jimmie to leave his own garage could be met with resistance.
@Phoroth Gaiaoa I actually like black coffee. Dark as hell, with ice preferably.
@@sharpfang That point about not wanting Jimmy to see the crime scene is something I never thought about. Good point.
mr wolfe's skill isn't that he knows how to clean a car, it's that he knows how to get someone's shit straight so they can get what they need done completed.
Precisely. He’s a project manager. Sometimes people need to have, what appears to be complicated situations, broken down into small steps to facilitate resolution of the underlying problem. Obvious to some but not most.
Very well spotted. This is underlined by his 'caving' to Vincent by saying please at the end
He does it in a way that makes it very clear he's still in charge, but he listened to a subordinate and respected his input enough to keep everyone happy but, more importantly, to keep everyone moving
That and he knows a man with a crushing machine.
@@sandrost4243 Yeah, "project manager" is also what I thought of.
And proudly I must say: so do I.
I love how even THE Winston Wolfe is surprised by how good that coffee is
Plus he takes the time to show appreciation but gets right back to business, unlike Jules who used the coffee to skirt around the issue.
@@ActivelyVacant exactly, everything about the character and his interactions with others is so perfect.
Edit: even that we don't have to see them on the road. We just know he's Winston fucking Wolfe and that he can solve everything.
What’s funny is earlier in the scene Jules tried to compliment him and he goes into a tirade. But when the Wolfe likes it he’s the nicest guy.
@@jordancarpenter676 I think it's because when Jules did it, he was obviously trying to suck up. When The Wolfe did it it was a cool nod, like "props."
Lots of cream lots of sugar would make any coffee good lol ….
I really like how wolf isn't overly demanding or rude to Jimmy, cause he knows it wasn't his fault, he was just dragged into their bull
He also knows Jimmy is a witness he doesnt want blabbing
True. Wolf's only real job here is to contain and control the situation. All aspects of the situation. Sure cleaning the car and stuff is simple enough for them to have done themselves, but be brings structure and confidence to a shitty situation and knows how to handle certain people like Vincent and Jimmy.
It’s Jimmy’s house, you don’t insult your host.
@@loki_l_1380 Wolf's job is to dispose of the body and the car... he can't do that with it being a blood bath. So he walks the guys through what they need to do, and doesn't help clean it because that's not his job.
He's not really demanding to Jules and Vincent IMO
Everybody gangster till Mr. Wolf says "Come again?" 😂
Which is English for 'what the fuck did you just say?' ;-)
Imagine if he did the wanker sign in response.
I think the naive personality of Vincent is kind of portrayed here. He later gets shot to death for not taking his gun to the bathroom. He almost blew it. They needed this guy more than everything.

I love how Vincent's priorities are always messed up. He's less than an hour away from getting arrested, but he gets hung up on the Wolf ordering him around. He can't think more than a few minutes ahead and is incapable of seeing the big picture. When you think about it, he was destined to end up the way he did.
The sad thing is that I've met people in real life just like Vincent. They can't grasp the magnitude of the situation and argue anytime someone tries to help them. They are a complete nightmare to work with, and they are their own worst enemy.
I dunno about that......I don't think Bonnie would have straight up called the cops on them. She almost certainly knew Jimmie was involved with some bad guys, she just didn't ever want to see that gangster shit or be exposed to it. If she did catch them in some shady act at her home, she probably would have been angry, but she wouldn't call the cops on her own husband.
@@CheerfullyCynical829 Jimmie wasn’t bothered about the cops at all, he’s main worry was that if Bonnie came home he was gonna get divorced.

I love how Jules is already firm in his decision to quit, yet he never blinks when dealing with this final mess. If anything, the Bonnie Situation further proved to him that he was making the right choice.
The bonus situation? hehe
Gotta be a team player till the End, cleaning and dealing with extra shit gives you more leverage to get what you want even if it's hanging it up .
Can anyone tell me the Bonnie situation? I didn't see much of the film

Notice how Jimmie, despite being very particular about his coffee, doesn't make a fuss about Wolfe liking lots of cream and sugar in his coffee. This is because the right way to have your coffee is the way you enjoy it.
He would’ve been thinking it. He just respects him too much to say anything.

I love the fact that The Wolf basically told them to clean the car and get rid of the body, both are common sense things to do in situations like this. Sometimes we may already know what we're supposed to do, but we need someone to guide us and tell us what we already know to push us into action.
Wolf's brilliancy was using sheets and comfortors to line the seats, he also has a contact at a junk yard to dispose of the body
I’m convinced the character Mike Ehrmantraut was modeled after Mr. Wolf from Pulp Fiction. He is the true master of being able to fix problems.
I feel like even their voices and mannerisms are similar. But maybe that's just how Jonathan Banks talks. Waltuh...

Honestly Quentins best movie.. imo
I've seen this entire film at least 20 times, the first time when it hit the cinema in 1994. I never previously noticed the subtle nod and big grin Jimmy (QT) makes when Winston Wolfe compliments his coffee. Opinions vary, but to me this is one of the greatest films ever made. It is endlessly replayable and there are little details and nuances tucked in everywhere.
I think it speaks more to the big tirade of praise Jules gave Jimmie earlier in the movie. Jules went on about the whole "gourmet shit" for like 5 minutes. The Wolf said it all with a simple approving nod
Agreed! One of the greatest films ever made.
Holy shit, i never noticed that either until I read your comment
The more times you watch this movie, the more stuff you pick up.
I watched it twice on my birthday in 1995. Too many good parts to pick a best.
When my man Wolf said, " If im curt with you, it's cause time is factor" I lost it! Keitel is gold!
The dialogue in this is absolutely incredible. This whole movie will never stop blowing my mind.
Like it happened with Marvin
And the more you watch it, the more you get out of it. It's the movie that keeps on giving.
@1:42 The nod of approval after that sip of coffee is priceless. It's as honest-to-goodness as a Taster's Choice commercial, except there's a dead body is in a blood-spattered car waiting for them in the garage.
I love how Wolfe talks about cleaning up pieces of brain and skull the way a wedding planner would talk about making sure the silverware looks neat and tidy for the guests
It's the little things, like the fact he says 9.30 "in the" am, which make this character, and therefore this scene, absolutely great!
Makes you think that he is awake in the am, in the pm, and perhaps in some other parts of the day that we are not privy to.

that's part of the beauty of the scene. Time is of the essence and yet we have a good portion of this scene dedicated to coffee
The two killers aren't the brightest bulbs in the room. Remember, Vincent dies because he neglected to take his weapon into the bathroom with him. Let alone taking a leisurely crap in the apartment of a man he's been sent to kill. If they were smart they wouldn't be in their line of work. If they were average they'd be bookies or something similar. They're henchmen, like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

People who don't understand or misunderstand this scene, often make the mistake of believing that Wolf is just Tarantino's gag of being ironic. Someone like Wolf is actually very useful and important to have around: a clear thinker who knows exactly what to do in a difficult situation, thinking of all details quickly, whilst maintaining a clear head. Yes, he is telling them what to do. But most people end up doing the wrong things and not thinking of the consequences. He is telling them to do the right things without wasting time. I know people like this, and they're an invaluable resource.
A lot of people say "well it's obvious you should clean the car..."
No it's not. Some people might just burn the car. Or drive it into a forest and abandon it. Or they will wash it incorrectly or they will wash it too thoroughly and end up losing too much time. Wolf knew what to do, when to do it, and how to get rid of the car (which he organized himself). So yes, he indeed is a problem solver and solved it very successfully.
I mean, it's also his main job of getting rid of the car and body. If the car wasn't a blood bath he would just have taken the car and left.
His reaction to the coffee is great. “Hmm” gets me every time
When Quentin asks Wolfe how he likes his coffee and walks off, the look on Samuel's face!!🤣🤣🤣

As someone that has to solve problems all the time, i admire mr Wolfe’s skills. Pay attention what was the first thing he asks when they approach the car. Whether car has any problems. He already envisioned how the cop pulls them over for something stupid and they get caught. That is thinking forward. Second he calculated the time and figured that the only way is to do a quick mask, for anything else they just don’t have enough time. And instead of panicking he just choses the course of actions and forgets about it. That is the ability to act under pressure. Third he even find a time to address the issue that now they need to stop thinking and do what he says. He even encourages them by saying that it is a plenty of time which will make his employees relax and perform well. That is the ability to manage your workers. Fourth he understands the importance of small things that needs to be taken care of like coffee so that he can perform on that level for a long time, otherwise he would burn out after a year of problem solving. Fifth when he faces unexpected issue like Vincent trying to f up the whole thing. He makes everything straight in less then 10 second, without escalating the situation. That is the ability to articulate your thoughts perfectly. Fifth which is fifth for me because of the lack of planning which is first which is second, he addressed the issue of whether they have enough resources even before he see the car, to take care of it in case they are out of blankets and sheets. I can tell you how this would go without mr wolfe. They would start scrubbing one small area in the car make it shiny white figure out that doesn’t work and call mr wolfe.
It’s not Wolf’s character you should admire but Quentin Tarantino mastermind behind it
@@vitaliypro8441 Considering, Tarentino it's probably inspired by some movie. The man watches every movie in the world no matter what language or genre
Mr Wolfe would be a damn good project manager!
Yeah people are missing the point about why he is there:
- Manages the panicked crew that doesn’t know how to proceed. Probably the most important.
- Tells them to clean the car but just enough to not get caught. The blanket idea was simple, fast and effective.
- De-escalates the situation with Jimmy and compensates him to keep him on the side of Marsellus.
-Provides a car/body disposal site near of the location.
@Art Kirakosyan What's your profession?
Love the bit from Vincent straight after - "don't look at me like that. I can feel your look." 🤣

It was an honor to watch him work in this video.
Jules is in a complete panic as he talks with Marsellus, right up until he hears "I'm sending the Wolf". His immediate, calm response, "why didn't you say so?" Before Wolf even makes his appearance, you know the Wolf is the best there is at what he does. The immediate respect he gets from Jimmy and Jules also tells you his reputation for problem solving is well known. In a few short minutes, Harvey Keitel hits it out of the park. What a talent!
Wolfe seems like he would be an amazing therapist. I‘m sure with his help I‘d be on top of my shit again within a week.
It’s a sure bet that Winston Wolf has teenage children the way he so calmly, patiently, but very firmly handles Vincent and Jules. Winston Wolf is like every dad that ever lived all rolled into one.
Jeebus the dialogue is good. Each character shows so much personality in just a few words.
Mr. Wolf getting straight to business and giving everyone respect. Vincent talking back to Mr. Wolf after even Jimmy was following instructions without asking *in his own house*, when this whole mess was his fault in the first place.
