darkdubh Actually, even after that time, I have witnessed newsflashes interrupting regular programming. In 1998, during a screening of a Dukes of Hazzard episode, a newsflash was shown, announcing the Omagh Bomb. Strangely enough, many newsflashes that have been on RTE took place on a Saturday or weekends.
By the looks of the news set in which the presenters were anchoring this bulletin from it looks like they were coming from a temporary studio at RTE in Donnybrook in Dublin instead of the usual Studio 3, as there was no wide angle shot of the "virtual" set which they had been using since 1994. If I remember correctly, RTE News relaunched in 1997, so it must have happened around this time.

No Stteam22, only the BBC,ITV and French Television did. In Australia Channel 9 had a three minute newsflash during the Australian National Swimming Championships. Disabled UK viewer. I hope that helps. GOD BLESS!
