tom scott actually made something very similar: the webcycle.
Actually cheater's monopoly is quite unique. You can only cheat in specific ways as listed on your card and if no one pick you up on your cheating, you have to announce it and then collect a reward. If you are caught, you get a handcuff put on you and placed near the jail space

Cheater's edition actually slaps, but it causes like 10 times the arguments bc the point is to cheat during one person's turn and not get found out until their turn ends so you can announce that you cheated and get rewards. However since 90% of the cheats involve letting you keep shit you stole from the board/ other people, it does wild shit to everyones brains and turns them into the most corrupt version of themselves. Some people become suspicious and tyrannical, accusing others at every too- quick hand movement . Others quietly make pacts to ignore each others cheating so they can both commit their respective crimes in peace. No matter what though, there's always at least one squabbling match every few turns. One time my brother stole the entire bank as a joke, but we were all so busy squabbling/ accusing each other we didn't notice and he got away with it. Anyway, he was declared winner of cheat monopoly forever and we meme on it all the time. All that to say, its really good but will change how you see everyone in your life forever if you play it with them.

Loved the video, but I just wanted to say that Fortnite Monopoly actually plays really different from the regular game! It mainly uses the Monopoly name as a base for its’ board and general rules like dice and the card systems. It could honestly pass as Fortnite: The Board Game. It’s similar to Game of Life: Mario Party addition, where the only thing shared between both versions is the spinner. I’d recommend both if anyone finds an interest in either.
Was going to comment the same thing, we bought it as a joke but ended up really enjoying how Fortnite monopoly played and prefer it to the real thing now lol

I also went $40,000 in debt at rock bottom but it turns out going up from there just made my debt get higher cause I bought too many Monopoly games. This was a cool video to help me find more Monopoly though

Also, "Studentenvereniging" was just the normal Dutch Monopoly board.
I always think of what I call the "Small Town Editions". My tiny US town is in the middle of nowhere. If I named it, none of you would recognize it. Yet somehow, someway, we have our own Monopoly at the local Wal-Mart. It's even got our town slogan on the cover. XD

it's so cool to see a video on this! my family collects the most strange and unconventional versions of monopoly, once we discovered that there was so many we couldn't resist 😂
most of them are pretty fun spin offs and are usually much shorter than the standard game, so if you want a quick game they're pretty cool!

There’s also Target monopoly (like the brand and you get cute little red shopping baskets) and Animal crossing which play differently than the base game. There’s also Overwatch which I liked for the collectibles. A ton of anime themed ones, but my favorite, most aesthetic board is the $400 luxury matte black with drawers from pottery barn. Same game, but just looks beautiful. If I have the means, I’m definitely buying it at some point in my life. There’s so many types, including 3D builder, the old and retired electronic banking (not to be confused with the new super electronic banking), all the city ones like san francisco-opoly, the secret vault, millionaire (where it’s the same but it’s basically larger notes), M E G A, fall guys, and a ton more licensed ones.
There’s actually an unoffical longest game of monopoly on tabletop sim with a bunch of different rules, 2 boards with 4 rounds of properties each to go through, a jail board, and so many convoluted rules.
On that note, I’m gonna hunt down an emo board to add to my collection.

My favorite version was the one on Wii that had a bunch of modes. One was different countries, another was cheeses, and one was chocolates/candy. It was honestly really fun.
There's actually an Irish version of Monopoly where it has properties from around Ireland (Dublin mostly) and there's 2 versions: One when Ireland used British Pounds (circa 1970 or something) and the newer one where it uses Euros. I've both seen and played both of them
There's more than 2 editions from ireland, I personally have the Cork city edition, and i'm pretty sure there's an official game for pretty much every one of the larger towns across the country. I definitely know there's Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Belfast (technically not ireland but whatevs), waterford and a few others. There are so many different versions...
I have Yo-kai Watch monopoly and I must say the board looks so goofy. It's Jibanyan's face basically. You collect cardboard yo-kai 'tokens' and I can hardly remember the rest. It was a bizarre experience. It also came with a goldenyan yo-kai medal which was pretty cool. I think the get out of jail for free card is hilarious. I have it in my phone case. It's a picture of Nate/Keita, the main character, smiling while the card says "Get out of jail free". The other cards are just other scenarios where a yo-kai distracts your opponent or you do something nice for a yo-kai and you gain a few tokens from it. I have to bust it out again soon and check it out.

Hey! I have Monopoly Empire Edition, and it actually does have its own unique gimmick, and not just Monopoly with a lick of paint, as implied in the video. It has a gimmick of a “tower”, and each property, in this case a business, has an actual piece which is slotted into your tower. When you pass GO, you get the amount of money your tower is worth (the height of the tower). You win when you fill up your tower to the top. Now ya know!
The Walmart in my hometown sells a monopoly version of my hometown. I remember being so confused because it's a relatively small town not even a city by any means.
Thats the kind of monopoly i had as a kid, but it was a more relevant town then where i grew up: Kansas City Monopoly
my county of 140k has its own Oply as well.
Also of note, the image behind the person in the video also has its own show's oply as well.

Now that you’ve said “anti-monopoly” I now want a version of monopoly where the goal is to go bankrupt first, it’s basically the same game except when you land on an empty tile, you can buy it for another player, essentially forcing them to have an unwanted revenue stream whilst you loose money yourself
My sister was given Horse-olopy for Christmas one year at my grandparents and she made us play it immediately before we even got home. We played it maybe once or twice again that month but after that that box has been lucky to see the light of day every 5-8 years or so. XD we still have it and it’s the only version of monopoly we have which is likely the only reason it still gets any use from time to time.
I know it's not an official version, but I am deeply disappointed that you did not mention Insane Monoply, the version created by Valefisk simply for the single goal of torture

In Bernard Suits' seminal book on the philosophy of games, The Grasshopper, he talks about how cheaters are defined by their violation of the rules of a game as a means to achieve the desired goal-this naturally makes the game cease to exist, as games are necessarily rule-governed.
By Suits' definition, Monopoly: Cheaters Edition would not actually be for cheaters, as following the rules of this "cheating" in the game literally means cheating cannot be taking place!!

as a monopoly collector, we dont count the opolys typically and the community estimates there are 3500-7000 versions depending if your counting differnt years and boxes. the largest collection sits about 3500 i believe

I have Banff-opoly, which is insanely broken. The jail is replaced with a chalet, and there isn't anything in the rules that says you ever have to leave, so once the board gets dangerous, you simply stay there forever and stalemate the game.
If there was one monopoly which I definitely did NOT expect to exist, it would be scott the woz monopoly.
Playing Boom Street OST while talking about Monopoly made me smile, I wish they brought some of the itadaki street games overseas...

Was expecting Cityville to get a mention. I’m not the biggest Monopoly fan but I had a lot of fun with that 1. There’s a couple of twists but the main 1 is that the winner is the 1st to own 4 hotels, makes the game a lot quicker

There's a monopoly for where I live, Farmington monopoly. A small town where I live with a population of 7,000, and it can only be bought at our local Walgreens that was washed away in a flood. R.I.P Farmington monopoly 💔

My family has at least three versions of Monopoly: regular Monopoly, Star Wars Monopoly (1996; which also got adapted into an animated computer game), and Star Wars Episode 1 Monopoly (I remember winning the first (and maybe only) time we played it). Might also have some LOTR / Middle Earth Monopoly, but I'm fuzzy on that one - I know we have a LOTR chess set, at any rate.
When I was a kid, we had Disney monopoly and it was awesome, cuz the pieces were cool and there was a pop-up castle on the board..
Tho, my by-far favorite was the one with Visa Cards, cuz I do math bad and swiping the card was so much faster.. And we used to play with the Visa Cards and terminal, that was fun..

Reminds me of when I was in a cafe and heard a family going 'it's like monopoly but for ponies!!!' It's now a running joke in my family
My favorite monopoly version growing up was Indiana Jones monopoly, it came in a charred-wooden crate like the top-secret boxes in Area 51 from the movie, and had its own special rules you could play with that allowed you to choose another option when you rolled specific doubles, rather than rolling again after you moved. Also, a game that looks a lot like monopoly but is a real blast to play is “By Jove” some of ya should definitely check it out and buy one if you can!

Fortnite monopoly is actually really funny because it DOES have a special gimmick, and isn’t just monopoly that looks like Fortnite. In Fortnite monopoly, money is health, properties are Fortnite named locations and are free to the first person to land on the space, every time someone passes go, you put a storm card on a space that damages anyone who lands on that space from then on. Along with the two original dice, you get another die that lets you either shoot other players, build a wall, heal yourself with bandages, or use a boogie bomb. You can only shoot someone on the same side of the board as you (unless you get an item from a Fortnite chest around the board that lets your shoot anywhere), placing a wall stops anyone on the space it was placed, regardless of roll, but can be shot beforehand so it can be gotten past without being stopped, which also takes the wall down. If you want to shoot someone past a wall on the same side of the board, you’re out of luck (unless you get that item mentioned earlier), it prevents them from being targeted. Boogie bombs deal damage to everyone else other than the player who rolls it and destroys all walls on the board. Bandages heal one health, pretty simple. There are other ways to get health back, such as passing go, or landing on a cozy campfire. Over the course of the game, you can land on Fortnite chests, which can give you items that let you do more damage, be immune to boogie bombs, heal you, and so on. It is truly an intricate game and I highly recommend.
