    The one thing you'll notice though is that both Rings were gold and the chain was silver and the Simplex did at least come up with a signal of some sort on the silver chain when the Vanquish got blanked. The Vanquish because of its multi-frequency picks up gold a little better than they Simplex does but the Simplex is a better Silver Machine because of its 12 khz frequency. When I go to the beach with my simplex I just ground balance automatically in Beach mode and then switch over to Park 1 and I do much better that way. Both great machines for the money though No Doubt.

      Good tips Steve! I should have brought a silver ring along too I bet it would have done good running the lower freq. Sometimes I like running field mode on the beach, maybe next time I'll give park a go. Most targets for me are pretty shallow so simplex is still awesome plus it's waterproof so no need to worry about it plopping on the water

    Thank you for the test. I too have watched videos where the finds are surface to four inches and they use the tip of their sand scoop, on one attempt, no pin point, no X pattern. When I travel to the beach with the 540 I am routinely expecting to use my scoop two to four times per target depending on depth. Of course I have found surface to shallow finds but that is irregular. Thanks to you the 540 is my wet sand beach detector. It made my vacation fun and took away my frustration.

    💥Great video and I’d really like some help. Not sure if you know the machine but I just took my Garret. Ace 400 out last night for the first time. I brought it to the beach. I had it in Relics mode, the sensitivity was down 2 notches from full.
    It was going well up on the dry sand locating quarters that read in the mid 80’s. But as I walked down the slope to the water it was manageable when the sand up high was fairly wet but as I got down near the incoming waves where the sand was really wet and glistening from the incoming waves it continually read 36-37 and the tone went off every 2-3 seconds everywhere I waved it. I had it about 1 inch (2.5 cm) over the sand. Back up on the dry sand it remained totally quite until I passed over something which was every 30-45 seconds or so. Was I not using the right setting or will this unit not work accurately in the wet sand at the waters edge.??

    I wonder if my sound settings on my computer were different, but I heard the simplex on the gold just fine, although a higher pitch than the vanquish. Enough that it would trigger digging at least. I also heard definite pings on the silver chain, again, more so than chatter. Vanquish defo hit a bit more defined on the gold, (sharper and a bit louder), so was certainly better in that regard...but at the end of the day both of them would have found both gold, and only the simplex hit at all on the silver(you were talking over it, but you could certainly hear the signal above the chatter IMO). On another note, I love that you refuse to "salt" your finds/videos, I think that goes on a LOT on youtube. The numbers of gold some people find just seems untenable in some cases!

  • @vossierebel
    @vossierebel Před 2 lety +1

    Yep... I have to agree with you - the Simplex does not like wet, salty sand! Also, I have learned to just ground balance higher up (sort of where the dry meets the wet) and often detect up and down - from dry to wet - in the same GB - and often in PM2 - sensitivity one bar down!
    However, I won't class a Vanquish as "budget"... not by a long shot! Worst still, the Vanquish is not waterproof!!! Me, I'm clutsie... I would drop that into the water at first opportunity - just because it's not waterproof!! But yes, MF will beat single frequency any day at the beach!
    You and Destiny and the rest of the family have a great Christmas - thanks for all the fun you share - detecting and gardening! Happy days there in the land of freedom!!

    • @TreasureOutdoors
      @TreasureOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      I should have tried some park and field action, I like running different modes out on the beach too vossie! I'm sure you have seen the few videos out on the legend... excited to give it a try.. I think the vanquish comes in 3 different options, the 340, 440 and 540 I would say the 340, 440 pretty friendly in price but that 540 can definitely get a bit expensive! I scored my 440 for around $189 bucks second hand haven't had any issues so far. I think if I had brought a silver ring to the beach the Simplex would have fared a lot better also, the low frequency on the Simplex just isn't the biggest fan of gold.... BUT... It WILL hit it if it's not too deep!! Most stuff out here isn't very deep for me so depth isn't the biggest deal... Merry Christmas to you and your family also Vossie, appreciate you coming along for the journey!

    Hi dude.
    Another great advantage of the Vanquish is that it is very little affected by electromagnetic interference. Here is a beach that most detectorists avoid due to the large amount of interference. And we have found that the Vanquish works perfectly in those conditions. When we go there the Equinox stay in the trunk of the car. On the other hand, the Simplex is a great machine for fields and parks due to its resistance and performance, but on wet beaches and sea water it is not an option, we all know very well why. The only thing that outrages me is that certain distributors promote it as a detector with performance for the beach but whose beach mode is precisely the least indicated to detect in that field. Greetings from Spain friend, and happy holidays.

    The Mighty Anfibio is all but useless on the beach. I dont think the older single frequency machines had much tolerance for the salt, the Nox put a lot of PI machines to sleep, that was the turning point, SMF is real for the highly mineralized beach. • @johnnyanglo6709
    @johnnyanglo6709 Před 2 lety +1

    Actually, the Simplex hit the silver chain, and the Vanquish did not. They both hit the left and center target with a diggable signal. So, your editorializing aside where you assume the Vanquish should be superior before even testing it, and then talking over the Simplex while it is providing a tone on the chain while saying it isn't really giving a tone, whining about the Simplex having occasional blurps on the wet sand while the Vanquish is quiet as if that makes the Simplex less valuable, all this theatrics shows too much bias in favor of a predetermined outcome where the Vanquish is prejudged to be better and therefore invalidates the import of this testing.
    How about this, take the Simplex and the Vanquish out into the water and search for rings beyond the surf. Oh, wait, the Vanquish can't do that because it's not waterproof, and the Simplex is. Looks like the Simplex wins that one. I detect beaches with the Simplex, I also have the Vanquish, but the Simplex is plenty deep (most targets are recent drops within 10", so the Simplex is more than adequate). Though the Simplex reacts slightly to the wet salt (when the arc of the swing near your feet is closer to the ground than at the periphery, you get a raised hum in all metal or a few blips in other modes), when it hits a non-ferrous target it is like getting punched in the face, you'll know the difference by the loud, tight, tone -- it is unmistakable even on a deep target.
    So, at the beach where more serious detectorists are in the water searching for lost jewelry, the Vanquish does not even rate for consideration. Otherwise, if you're just hunting the sand, wet or dry, get a used Ace 250 (which many people have), and you'll have more than enough detector for the job. Frankly, the Vanquish is a good machine, a bit deeper in highly mineralized soil, but the build quality is not compatible with the Simplex (too much flex in the Vanquish rod, it works, but it feels flimsy).
    So, if you do any other side-by-side testing, have someone else bury the targets, ensure the testing person does not know what or where precisely the targets are, or how deep, and don't prejudge the outcome. If you are going to adjust one detector for optimal performance and not do the same for the other (because your bias doesn't want it to do as well) or you sweep off-center and haphazardly to skew the outcome of the unfavored detector (while talking loudly over its better performance), and these are not issues for you, then please don't do any further detector side-by-side demonstrations. You must remain impartial and dispassionate or don't test detectors.

      This comment deserves a reply, you make very good points.. If you want to make test videos.. gotta stay unbiased and know what you're talking about.. These videos are being viewed by the world.. not just a few newbys

    There are so many things wrong about that test that an experienced detectorist can see right away that theres no need for comment,just shake of the head.
