He's not the fastest, he's not the strongest, he's not the most agile but he slips tackles like an oily eel and has the reflexes of a cat on speed.
***** bit unfair to gauge his performance on a game that he was playing out of position and the 14 men around him had a shit game too. The whole Red Rose fell apart that day, not just Brown.
He's the best fullback in England for sure. Foden isn't on par anymore, Watson still needs to get some continuity, Goode is too weak defensively (I'm not a big fan of "utility" backs, they tend to be good at lots of things but not really great at anything and so struggle in ways that specialists don't, there are exceptions of course).
I'd even say he's up there in terms of British Fullbacks. Hogg has some serious attitude problems to sort out (Preistland's chin will attest to that), Halfpenny lacks attacking threat (totally solid otherwise, one of my favourites), Kearney seems to have gone off the boil at the moment but he's a fuckin' class player so I think it's just a form issue.
Agree totally, plus he's deceptively strong.. I think because he's not a big man in general the opposition tend to underestimate how powerful he is..

I don't know any other rugby player that gets as much undeserved hate as Brown. He's a solid performer for club and country. Sure he gets a bit hot headed at times, but that's passion and what makes him the player that he is. If you think he's overrated, I suggest you watch more rugby and try to analyse the game without bias.
Randy Bobandy that's the problem with most of the people that put up derogatory comments on rugby videos.. They either only ever watch the occasional game, and/or they've never played at any level other than in a fat boy Sunday Bbq game.. I've had similar arguments in bars watching internationals with know alls.. They usually leg it and drown their sorrows elsewhere when my reply to their question "Wtf do you know" is I played at a level where I came up against internationals, albeit along time ago..

Mothertrucker Jones Folau is brilliant at all the fancy stuff and a huge attacking threat, but he lacks where the down and dirty stuff comes into it.
Dagg has lost his spark a bit too, but Ben Smith and Le Roux I would have on a team over Brown.
while he is kinda a baby sometimes what I love about him is his tenacity. when he sets his mind to breaking the line he goes in with the mentality that nothing is taking him down

Mike Brown is by far the best fallback England have ever had, Mike for me is the one that leads the team on the defense, when England look as if they are going to given on there own line Mike pulls something out and runs the game to put England on the Offence Well done Mike Brown
well I'm not sure about best ever, Josh Lewsey for me was outstanding, as was Jason Robinson. I'd put Brown up there but certainly isn't better than them. However Brown is an exceptional player and had one wonders for England over the last 8 months.

+Tonio Bolonio Have you watched Dagg try to play the last 2 seasons? Dire form... Halfpenny is class but a worse attacker and high-ball player than Brown at the moment, and Kearney has been blowing hot and cold for ages now. He's ahead of all 3 IMO, Pence is the closest. B Smith and Folau and Le Roux ahead of him right now, but let's see how the RWC goes. Every team has a pretty good FB option really - Brown, Smith, Folau, Milne-Scudder, Nanai-Williams, Halfpenny and L Williams, Kearney, Huget and Spedding, Le Roux, even Wyles

as a simple taff, i will never understand how mike brown(your most outstanding player)'s position is under pressure. he is a stand alone player in the England camp atm. you people are nuts.
wouldn't mind seeing him back in the England squad he's not the fastest but he has pretty good strength and he's agile slips tackles so easily we could do with something like that right now in the squad instead of constantly kicking back and forth he also knows how to get into a players head which we all know in games now play a massive factor

Matt Pelski I'm English as well and I certainly agree with you here. No doubt Brown is a quality player, but the likes of Le Roux, Folau, Kearney, Ben Smith are all performing better and more consistently. I think that Dagg and Halfpenny are on a very similar level to Brown. Also keep your eye out for Joaquin Tuculet (my next video), he's the Argentinian 15 and he's outstanding.
Mothertrucker Jones I'd take Brown over Kearney at the moment. I just feel he's gone off the boil (although so has Brown to some extent). Brown is the best all round 15 for me, he can do everything but he's not the best at everything. Solid in defence, will break tackles, huge boot, great decision making (considering the pressure on 15s I think this should be a more highly sought after skill). I reckon I'd take Falou over him and Le Roux but again, it depends on the other 14 men on the field. I think England are great defensively (to the extent that they even pick 10s based on their defence *shakes head in disapointment*) so I'd want someone a bit sharper in attack like Le Roux or Falou but if England start picking those more exciting attacking options more frequently (Eastmond, JJ, Watson, Wade, Ford etc) then I'd rather have a rock at the 15 slot who'll tackle any bastard running at him.
Matt Pelski Yea, all this talk of "The best in the world". Why can't he just be good? I'd rather have a team of 23 good solid players than 22 meh ones and a world beater. It is a team game after all. (Wouldn't say no if we found out Falou had a Scottish Auntie though)

If he didnt think he needed to TRY to be hard and concentrated on his rugby he would be a superb full back.
As he is now he looks a pillock trying to get a quick punch in and then running away OR makes sure he has lots of cover in case a forward gets hold and drags him in. Just one of the girls really !

England need to utilise Browns superb ball carrying against Australia, perhaps Watson at 15 against Wales this Sunday but not against the wallabies, Watson, Nowell and Brown at the back 3 against wallabies. The main priority against Australia is speed whereas against Wales it is power, space and tactics. Also Ford will have to kick on Sunday 😀

He was bad on the winger because he is a fallback, not a winger. Also he made the most meters and beat the most defenders in the last 6N (you know, where England beat Wales) and was instrumental in an England win over the Aussies (something Wales haven't done for ages).
Also the Welsh should NEVER accuse someone else of bigging up their players! You Welsh have been claiming you are the NH team to beat, before getting torn apart by the Irish, shamed by South Africa, beaten by England and failing to beat a single SH team in ages. Hell SCOTLAND have more success vs SH than you do.

Good player, I wouldn't doubt that. But he comes over as a massive prick on the pitch. His attitude isn't that of a rugby player. He shakes hands at the end of the game, so I commend him for that. But the way he acts while the game is going on is verging on thuggish.

Halfpenny is much , much better than Brown . Brown is good but is kicking is not good and one season at fullback don't make you a superstar like Halfpenny and Dagg .
