there are reasons why race cars don't have airbags. first is that the other safety equipment in said race cars is more effective and reliable than airbags, second is that if you crash the airbag will only increase your chances of dying as it will take much longer to get you out of the car especially if the car is on fire the bag can catch fire and in that case you would not only be surrounded by fire there would be a fire burning on you and third is that because of the violent vibrations that go through race cars while going around a track the airbags could deploy prematurely making the driver crash which then brings you back to the second point.

Skull fractures, concussions, and brain injuries are actually more common in football, not to take away the dangers in f1 but modern f1 races today are a lot more safer than football matches, take it from someone who loves both f1 and football equally (maybe f1 a bit more) and have been playing and watching football for the past 2 decades. Not to mention broken bones and fans throwing stuff like coins and bottles behind players on the pitch
