  • When I was researching to find out what to see in Split in 1 day, I didn't know that I was going to find a city that concentrates so many monuments in very little space and that I was going to find one of the most crowded places with tourists of my entire trip through Croatia. .
Split is without a doubt one of the most spectacular cities in all of Croatia, a place that takes you back to the time of the Roman Empire in the blink of an eye. We had to see Split in 24 hours, we had arrived at noon and we had until the next day in the afternoon to enjoy the city.
We began our visit at its main door, the Golden Gate, which was where the emperor entered the Diocletian Palace, a palace that occupies a large part of the historic center of Split. Inside the Diocletian Palace we went to the Peristyle to buy a pass at the tourist office to see the main monuments. The first of them was the bell tower, quite complicated to climb in some sections and where my vertigo prevented me from enjoying the views. The second of them was the Cathedral, which without a doubt was my favorite monument and where we found the least tourists. From there we went to the Temple of Jupiter to later cross the narrowest street in all of Croatia, known as Let me pass. The last of the paid monuments that we saw that day was the Crypt. Next to the Peristyle was my favorite space in all of Split, the Lobby, with a spectacular vault open to the sky and if you visit it in the afternoon or at night you can find it empty. Below is the Basement, a passageway with souvenir stalls where some scenes from the famous Game of Thrones series were filmed and which connects the Diocletian Palace with the seafront.
The second day we took the opportunity to see another part of the city with buildings from the Middle Ages and with a great influence from the Venetian Empire and we ended our visit on a mountain where there are spectacular views of the entire city.
