    I’m an RN and took a breastfeeding course in nursing school where I learned about the leaky gut and to not feed babies food until 6 months. Now I see so many people feeding their babies food before six months and it upsets me so much!! Ah so happy to see you spreading correct information where you have the platform to:)

    • @KatKamalani
      @KatKamalani  Před 4 lety +1

      That’s amazing you’re learning about that!! I just learned about it! Wish i knew with Luna because we started at 5 months and she’s now allergic to oats

    • @KidVoices869
      @KidVoices869 Před 4 lety +9

      I’m also an RN and a soon to be mom and there is extensive studies done that leaky gut applies under 4 months and there are a lot of benefits on beginning feeding between 4-6 months it’s new best practice which is why pediatricians are suggesting it now to parents and why many parents are starting early. Also food before the age of one isn’t for nutrition, their breast milk or formula should still be their main food source.

    • @typejen7930
      @typejen7930 Před 2 lety

      @@KidVoices869 This! Open/leaky/virgin gut is a myth and unfortunately many lactation courses and CEUs are full of BS. RN here too. It is fine to introduce solids between 4 and 6 months, and introduction in this time period helps decrease the risk of developing allergies - not cause them. Earlier introduction (before 4 months) can be harmful, though. Food is for nutrition too The zinc, iron and mineral content of breastmilk is inadequate after 4-6 months.

    • @lauren8627
      @lauren8627 Před rokem

      @@KidVoices869 No, food before one is for some nutrition. Mainly iron. And those fortified cereals wreck the gut. Real sources of iron are much more beneficial.

    Thank you for taking your sponsorships and reviews seriously and being honest! I've put a lot of things on (and taken some things off) my registry based on videos like these so I appreciate it! I would be so bummed if I added something and later found out the product was crap and only recommended because of a sponsorship. Thank you for the great video!

    THANK YOU! Parents are always scrambling to buy unnecessary things (wipe warmer, pacifiers, formula maker, etc) Babies do not need a lot, with both my babies we had a bassinet, crib, stroller, high chair, change table, bottles, thermus, toys (play mat, teething, and books.) We didn't find out what we were having so it was a surprise and guess what the nursery doesn't have to even be done before hand, the baby sleeps with you for a while anyways. Its a billion dollar industry that trap new parents so easily.

    I bought a Hiccapop wipe warmer from Amazon ($35) and I never regretted buying it, and they don't dry out the wipes. It stays very moist inside, sometimes you can see the droplets of water in there. But our wipes don't sit in the wipe warmer very long, 2-3 days. For us, they dont really dry our, or if they do, probably not significantly enough to notice.

    Actually strongly disagree with you on the baby wipe warmer. But every baby is different. First baby through toddler freaked out with cold wipes and with a messy poop it takes forever to warm up each one. I didn’t have one for the first weeks of my newborn and noticed he was reacting to the cold wipes. I bought one and it was the best thing I did for my changing station. He doesn’t flinch. Sometimes he sleeps through a diaper change.

    use a blender it does the same thing. I made my sons baby food from the very first bite of baby food until he was done with babyfood at about 9 months old. He started eating real food in whole form at 9 months. by 7.5-8 months he was using a spoon and feeding himself. i always allowed him to try to feed himself from the first bite of baby food.

    I had 4 kids. I used a swing with all of them. It would keep them comfy for a bit if I had to make dinner or give the other kids a bath etc. My first was just not a good sleeper as an infant and I think it’s more because I was younger and more inexperienced and anxious. He also just liked to be awake and looking around. My second and third were excellent sleepers and my 4th was not a good sleeper for the first 10wks because she had a broken collar bone at birth and had to wear a brace so she was kind of uncomfortable until the brace came off. After that, she was fine. We never just left them in the swing for extended periods of time but it came in very handy when I need it.

That’s nice when you’re having to change the spit up shirt or the poopy pants. They wash nicely, too. The other one is Baby Gap. I know it’s more expensive, but it washes so nicely! Get some second hand. It holds up so well!

    New mama here! I agree with the wipe warmer. Was given 2 of these as gifts from family but never used because my baby got bad yeast rash after the hospital. Open and raw.. my poor baby 😭 All i have been doing is rinsing him in warm water every time I changed his diaper. Never used wipes since then. If so, I literally just used a wet cloth and dab his butt.

    I definitely have to disagree about holding off feeding baby food. Pretty much all doctors will tell you you can start baby food as young as 4 months. If a baby is showing signs of wanting to eat you can most definitely feed them. My daughter started eating at 4 months and she LOVED baby food. She loved it way more than her bottles. I put the spoon in her mouth and before I could even get more food on the spoon she would open her mouth super wide or wine for more.

      As babies and children our kids could not possibly make their own medical and health decisions. So with me as their parent and their doctor we make the best medical decision for them. Just consult your doctor first like i mentioned ❤️

    • @daycel13
      @daycel13 Před 4 lety +1

      Kat Kamalani Of course they can’t make their own health and medical choices never said they could! But like I mentioned doctors will tell you to start feeding as soon as 4 months. I know my doctor did and I know many of my mommy friends their doctors tell them the same thing. Delaying foods also has not proven to be effective at stopping or helping with allergies in children. This is also coming from my doctor and research from medical studies. I’m not sure where you are getting your information from but it’s simply not correct. Of course every parent has the right to chose when and how to feed their babies as they see fit. As you should! But I just don’t agree with the information you are giving. That’s all.

      Actually the AAP recommends 6 months. This is backed by research and is the most recent best practice.

    • @daycel13
      @daycel13 Před 4 lety +1

      Patrice Matthews Nope. The “general” recommendation is 6 months BUT if your baby can sit with little support, has good head control, and opens his or her mouth when food is offered then your child is showing signs they are ready for solids. Some babies show these signs as early as 4 months. I will also add that the AAP specifically states not to introduce solids before the age for 4 months as there are studies that suggest this can lead to obesity. So therefore 6 months is just a general guideline it’s not when you HAVE to or are SUPPOSED to start. If your baby is showing signs and are not less than 4 months then you can most definitely start them on solids. But again like a said above parents have the right to do what is best for their child. I just disagree that she is giving people inaccurate information about when to start food. That’s all.

    Leaky gut isn't true. My pediatriton recommend introducing solids at 4 months to prevent allergies. After seeing your video I did extensive research, finding that most cases studied infant stomachs closing at 1 week old. Giving solids at 4 months could prevent allergies.
