Imagine seeing Jay just randomly crusin' with the homies in LA
Alex Velasquez I seen Jay at costco in Burbank in early February. Hella cool guy, real down to earth. WUSUP JAY! I know you don't remember me, but your car was so dope that day!
Lmao that would be hilarious seeing Jay with these guys.
I can see that, esse. Woul' be really fun.
Jay is down with The homies!
I could never imagine that.
I love how Jay has so much respect for the craftsmanship of every single person who comes on his show. Every single person from every walk of life. Respect.
My daddy taught me to act this way towards everyone too; I expect everyone to be this way. I'm 60 year old however, so I grew up with real men and women I guess.
Chris C ok boomer
Chris C what’s the hottest girl you ever had sex with ?
Not conan
totally agree he appreciates every type of car
I’m not a low rider kind of guy but the craftsmanship on them is stunning. Jay has it right. Even if you’re not into low riders, certainly you can appreciate the workmanship.
Lowrider car shows make all other car shows look like clown shoes. I'm not a lowrider, but I'm a car guy. And if you're a car guy, you can appreciate the amount of work that goes into these cars. Unbelievable. Great show.
Great comment. I grew up around lowriders.
Dreamaster I agree with you, that's how all car guys should be instead of hating on other peoples creations.
Nope, I'd say that a movie car show will get anyone better then I give you your lowrider show.
Dreamster399 exactly, it cost lots and lots of money to build one of those cars, I mean 100k and better sometimes, you got to appreciate it
Dreamster399 best comment so far
That paint job! It looks like someone trapped the sunset in a bucket and painted the car with it! Beautiful!
Jay is just another man that doesn’t care how big he has made it in life, he remains HUMBLE and loves people and respects other cultures just like us 👌🏾🇲🇽🙏🏾
Orange one is nice but I'm really diggin' that black one, it's so low key and clean as hell. The small block is like a diamond!!
they usually put insane amounts of clear coats to get that "wet" look on the black cars
That 66 is one of the most beautiful body styles no doubt
Caprice
66 Impala convertible was my first car.
I love how Jay makes sure he gets his fingerprints on every piece of chrome!!! Must have driven the owner nuts!
I kept thinking his wrist watch was going to scrape the paint when he was looking under the hood.
Nah, he had his fingerprints removed so he can't do that to his own stuff! Haha
Nope not nuts they will leave them and say those are jay lenos prints lol boost the retail
He can't keep his hands off a car.... I am betting he doesn't wash a car very often....
Yea, Jay has a habit about those hands.... I cringe sometimes 😖
Anyone else noticed Jay buttoned up his shirt all the way up cholo style when he was cruising?
Jay should of put on a head band
yeah he knows the deal
Needs a hair net for the drive by, I hope he had his papers with him. ICE might give him a free ride to TJ
right away
Thomas Christopher White yup right when he came to a stop and said im jay leno the low rider right?
Honestly, todays "car culture" being all about sideshows, vandalism, crime, streetracing, burnouts, fight, and drifting cars till destruction... its really refreshing to see a group of people who are into the artistic beauty and chill side. mad respect
@Robby Dey That isn't entirely a bad thing... seeing people drive around mortgages and leased cars is pretty scary. Getting a good job is hard nowadays.
@Robby Dey that is not bad at all, it is just nowadays this generation is broke and we cannot afford anything without being massively in debt, every kid nowadays want a super cool car like a 64 impala or a nissan gtr but we cannot afford it at all so we go to a cheap hatchback and mod it to our liking
Thats a stretch to call what theyre doing "streetracing, burnouts and drifting" its more like speeding in traffic like a idiot, brake stands cause theyre shitbox cant do a real burnout, and flooring it and fishtailing like a spaz hoping that you dont hit a curb or another pedestrian this time, the other descriptions made them sound like they actually have a ounce of talent or braincells which they do not 9/10 times.
@@kanyewestinasparklingwater7475 whose fault is that? The past 2-3 generations have had their priorities completely fuked up and backwards... getting pregnant in highschool, knocking some chick up in highschool, not going to college, getting dead end jobs with no future at all... its all about decisions and your average person seems to make bad decisions and for bad decisions their are repercussions which might be financial
@@uglyjihadwhat does affordability have to do with acting like fools? Destroying streets with donuts, hitting people with cars etc?
I’m 27 and I have a fully built 65 impala rag. Guess when I got it? When I was 18 for 2,000 dollars. Guess when it started running? Just a year ago 2 days ago. I have been working on it slowly doing what I could myself and saving. You guys just have no patience and want instant gratification.
You have to respect the amount of creativity, detail and work put into both of these vehicles not to mention money. My little cousin is a lowrider and she is out there doing a lot of her own work.
Built that '66 in 2 months with that level of detail? That's amazing.
rcairforceone remeber its the company "Lowrider magazine" the "show car"
Lots of Cocaine 😂
its like LEGO
He's in a car club, so everybody helps to get the customization knocked out and show ready! A few months is all that's needed!
Yeah did u see the hood as the light crossed it
6:54 the inside of that door is the Tattoo of the car. Absolutely amazing
I missed this! Thanks for the comment. I might do that on my 66' GTO now
I actually gasped when I saw that! Beautiful!
20:54 the guest almost eats it
I missed that too. I might do that to my 70 Monte!!
How did J not see that and talked about it!! 😒
Seeing Jay Leno geek out over every detail of these Lowriders restored my faith in humanity.
Shout out to Jay for showing his love and appreciation for the culture and more importantly, the sheer skill, beauty and detail that it takes to create and maintain these cars. Viva la raza Y viva Jay Leno!
He was really geeking out on the craftsmanship wasn’t he? I loved it to. I can remember seeing my first full blown “show lowrider” and just being overwhelmed. I couldn’t even decide what to focus on. Like engraved suspension pieces. One of them had custom bolts with a logo engraved on the head. Like, every damn bolt in the car!
That's a Nice Factory Blend Interior Jay... Not Overdone... Not Too Loud With The Paint...
Where's Trejo's 65 Buick? Ouch Ingraving!!!
I feel so honored to know that lowriding came from the heart of mexican/Chicano life style now everyone does it
indeed
Right on bro... ✌️
beat you meat much? geesh
Bo Pena not Mexican. It’s Chicano 100%.
But they day Build the wall.
So much time and craftsmanship put on display here, you can't help but love these cars.
I can help it, without any effort at all. The lowrider is a symbol of the Mexican gang subculture, and criminal element in southern California. These are the cars gunshots rang out from in southern California neighborhoods in the 1960s-1980s. Those tatted gang members in these cars would routinely force motorists off the road to rob and murder them. Believe me when I say, I find it very easy to _not_ appreciate anything about this car... or the owner, for that matter.
Some people on here are dumb with there comments you dont have to want or even like the cars for what ever reasons be it racial or ignorance I wouldnt want a car like this but you have to appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry that goes into these machines , there beautiful machines
Jay is definitely a car guy! He gives props and respect to all builds, styles or cultures! Orale Homie
I feel like the LowRider car culture is way underrated and unappreciated. These cars are absolute works of art from top to bottom and front to back. The attention to detail and the craftmanshift and workmanship is truly incredible. Nothing but love and respect. Hope to see more integration of the LowRider culture in the car culture as time goes on.
That airbrushing in the doorjamb 6:53 is sick. Beautiful car.
Jay looks so out of place but has respect for the culture I can respect that
Respect!
🇲🇽 🇲🇽
low riders are the safest cars in the world bro
Mad respect 👍👍👍
@@Username-2 you ever heard of a low rider flipping? skipping a median and exploding on a pilon?
you drive that thing low and slow and your rider is the safest thing out there.
This is what I like about Jay Leno, he's not only a car guy, he's not afraid to showcase lowriders on his own TV show
(I wish more people were like him.)
I'm an exotic and euro car collector and never been into this lowrider culture, but I am now. Thoroughly impressed. Jay was genuinely interested and so thoughtful in his portrayal of this segment of car culture. Thank you, Jay for making time and creating this video. One of my all-time favorites! And thank you for making nearly 30mins of content. Very, very well done!
It took me an hour to get through this video, I kept pausing it to admire all the details on both these cars. I have much respect for these guys and this art form.
Took me about 50 minutes. Another 5 minutes rubbing my eyes and somewhere between 8 to ten minutes picking up my jaw from the recently vacuumed floor. Pz to all.
6:54 the inside of that door. so much fucking detail
I love how the language of car doesn't discriminate to a color of skin or class of people.
@Chang Noi because non car enthusiast would assume these guys are just dumb and ghetto. That's why
Kinda like music! I guess I should specify great music!
Chang Noi I think it’s true and really pretty special
Haha all that stuff is in your head the racism is created by media and racist people I see the beauty of years of tradition and creativity from hotroding all baked down to a beautiful creampuff love the colors 😍
Samuel Lopez Stop using his Internet and electronics then.
That low rider is so clean how could they drive it? lol
CycleCruza um, which one? 🧿👄🧿

@@elilopezi8832 I'm planning on getting a 88 crown vic......I know it's not traditional to turn into a low low, but is it acceptable? I've never seen that model with hydros before.
It belongs in a glass case
My goodness what extraordinary engineering and craftsmanship. The black car was stunning enough - but then the caramel and gold car was in another different class altogether. Wow!
FINALLY, SOMEBODY WHO DOESN'T INSULT THE CARS ON SIGHT.
I am mostly a Honda guy but I really respect this style. It's super cool.
Dat v tec doe
Haters gonna hate.
bennydman666 I see "I love haters" stickers on Honda's all the time. Get over yourselves, nobody's hating. Its funny to see inflated ego's thinking people would really be jealous of a Honda car.
No. I don't put stickers on any of my cars. Just because some kids give Hondas a bad name doesn't mean there is anything wrong with Hondas.
I own a Honda. I know nothing is wrong with them. You the one with the "haters gonna hate" comment.
My heart would be pounding out of my chest if someone else(even Jay Leno) was driving if I had a ride like that. Insurance/money cannot cover what it took to build a car like that. Outstanding craftsmanship
One of my favorite episodes so far. Jay is genuinely impressed with the cars and the culture. Brandan is super knowledgeable too.
Wow great episode! Im not a a lowrider style guy but the quality of that 63 is mind blowing. And the 66 actually. Beautiful cars.
The first time Jay wears sunglasses and buttons up his denim shirt
Especially after watching his appearance on Seinfeld's Comedians In a Car Getting Coffee where he said that he hates wearing sunglasses.
@@memo1269 LOVE IT
Just a nod to the brothers who love these cars. He loves cars, bikes, and the culture(s).

I like how Jay is genuinely impressed. He's right, those cars are artwork
Jay’s like a kid in a candy shop he appreciates all styles, He’s really into it attention to detail in this car is amazing thanks for the show
The orange Chevy is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. Stunning.
Junior Velasquez Lol,good suspensions only already cost over a 100K,but then I mean really good...
You really willing to buy a 200-300K car while you can just build it yourself for half the price? :P
Sandeep Singh an Indian telling us about low riding? oh my
pumasgoya now that's funny
you should check out the 64 impala called the"SANTANA"
DeMarius Bargaineer or that '63 El Rey. All very nice
I used to be a lowrider back in the late 70's early 80s. Back then being a lowrider was one of the best hobbies a young man could do to keep you out of trouble, I owned a 73 Caprice Classic (known as a "glass house) due to the back window, hydraulics on all corners with chrome and brass pumps, and Tru-spokes on all corners. Wonderful time I had back then and it nice that Jay took the time to enjoy a unique car art form.
There still great!

Thank you Jay for doing a Low Rider segment. I am into Hot Rods and Motorcycles. But i have a great deal of Respect for All Car cultures. Its unbelievable how much love. Money and time goes into what we love...

God Bless each and everyone of you !
I'm not a lowrider guy but quality craftsmanship is quality craftsmanship and the lowrider guys are second to none. Absolutely unmatched.
That black fastback is such a nice shape. Amazing paintwork on both rides!
I'm not into lowriding, but I gotta say that's the coolest Jay has ever looked. Anyone can own a Lamborghini with enough cash, but to be riding in something with that much style takes style... love it.
🎯
6:54 Nice air brush art work on the door.
Yeh i wish dude would of mentioned it. I don't think jay noticed it
Jay Leno tried to say he saw somebody paint stripes with a BRUSH with no tape AND drinking whiskey I don't know what the hell hes talking about like seriously
when he opens the hood on that second car, its like the taj mahal of engine bays.
I remember a pic of Jay in LRM way back in 96 featuring some low riders for his show then. So cool to see he's still into it- he needs to own one!
Very cool! I'm glad Jay showed a lot of respect for the Lowriding community by highlighting the top notch enginuity and craftsmanship put into these cars! Great Job!
I love how jay is just so giddy about these cars
As soon as you get on a LOWRIDER your street cred goes up 80%!
Not my thing, but simply unbelievable craftsmanship and technical know-how. I love all the aircraft parts in the hydraulics.
I gained a whole new respect for the Lowrider community from this video. Amazing cars.
The fact that most of these guys paint these cars in there off time or in there garage at home is mind blowing. I'm dying to just see one in real life on the east coast
You can tell Jay has a real love for all things car, he lives and breathes anything motorized. And the fact that he is so knowledgeable is insane. He’s definitely living his best life.
This is my favorite episode. Being an easy coast guy I have much respect for the low riding community. Cars are incredible.
Hey JAY! Me and My Son built a 1951 Western Flyer (WESTERN AUTO PARTS) 2 Seater Bicycle back in 1994, entered it in the Lowrider Nationals in Dallas Texas and received 1st place out of 500 + bikes. It was featured in LOw Rider Bicycle Magazine as a center fold of the FIRST LOWRIDER 2 SEAT Bicycle in HISTORY! Lets do a LOOK AND TALK about it! I still have the bike to this day sitting in my office with all the custom paint, crushed velvet seats and 24K gold dipped accessories...
Lets see some pictures then. And when did "Western Flyer" have "model years" on their hardware store bicycles?
Hey, love your youtube channel
WOW! The craftsmanship, the skill, the obsessive attention to detail is just amazing. Love the Skittles/Creamsickle car! You can go uphill & downhill all at the same time!!!
They are works of Art . Thank you for posting this. Much respect to the skills of these men.
I don't understand the critical comments - cars are about self expression. People modify their cars to suit their personalities and make them happy to spend time with it. I think it's immature to say 'it looks terrible' etc because whilst you have your opinion, you should still respect others choices and their opinions. If you don't like what someone has done to their car, then so what? Go and customise your car the way you like it and respect other peoples opinions and styles. If everyone had the same taste, then the world would be tasteless
I wish I had 34 hands to give this comment 34 thumbs up. The funny thing is that narrow minded people think they have seen enough, grown enough, developed themselves enough and start correcting what their ignorant eyes think is wrong. Very few things are wrong. The things that ARE wrong, are universally wrong, murder, theft, abuse in any level. Blah blah blah. These are cars, damn good ones too. Part of the goodness is they belong to others..
Sorry for the long winded comment. I will return to my PCP and HEROIN, pz to all. Jay, you rule.
Michael, you're alright!
If you think this is bad try riding sports bikes and decide to take the old man's cruiser out for a day with the boys shessh!
not too many car cultures that just keep their cars completely stock
Francoberry absolutely they also modify their cars and take them to shows for other people's opinions, and let's face it everybody has an opinion and in my opinion the black Chevy was okay, and the way too yellow Chevy was hideous at best just an opinion.
That 63 is a slice of heaven!
This has blown my mind. So beautiful, work of art
You look so good in that sweet ride. J, thanks for this interview and the guys who came and did it with you much appreciation and respect.
It's just me but I'd take the black at over the orange baby. Nothing looks meaner and badder than a murked out whip.
Although, that Orange one is a beauty. Detail to perfection. I'm not a flashy type of guy.
Both are equally beautiful in all areas. 👍🏽👍🏽
I'd take the black one too.
That '63 is astounding, I would have maybe gone a little more traditional on the interior, but holy cow. The paint is beyond words.
Agreed... the car is handsome to say the least... It could probably be an exhibit in an art gallery.
If I win the lottery there would definitely be a cool lowrider in my car collection
u don’t necessarily have to win the lottery if you know the correct ppl they aren’t bank breaking expensive
I was just thinking the same

Cruising with the crazy uncle... lol... Love you Jay. It is awesome to see that you appreciate these as well. Any car guy that looks at low-riders objectively has to appreciate the art form. And what a better compliment can we get than to get a nod from the ultimate car guy.
saw Jay at a coffee shop in LA...dude really knows about his cars man. Some people have more money than brains...but he actually knows what he's talking about and it's quite respectable. peace

Some absolute master pieces.Lowrider was my favorite Car mag as a kid ,killer cars but the Models were drop dead gorgeous.
I like the fact Jay has such a variety of vehicles on his show. Keep up the great work.
there was some sick airbrushing on the inside of the first car's door. I love touches like that.

The Lowrider cars have some of the most over the top customizations big respect its an interesting culture among cars
One of the _very_ few times I've enjoyed watching something Jay Leno has hosted.

+ja er (J.E) I am gonna have to disagree...BMW art car started in 1975...lowriders have been in existence long before that...I have seen some of the BMW art cars in person..they were on display at Grand Central station in New York..I do not think from an artistic standpoint they(BMW art cars)do not compare to the detail the lowrider culture puts into theirs....they put more paint on the car than a Rolls Royce
The paint and prep cost in LABOR is much more than my little car is worth,by far.
18 different paints and pin stripes must take weeks of planning and then the taping and then the clear coat? Insane amount of hand built body work.
It computes and equated to CUBIC DOLLARS/PESOS!

+M Rod I have nothing against the car, but middle-aged men look fairly ridiculous in them.
You can't, the level of workmanship and engineering done on them is top notch. The paint job on both those cars is enviable. And lastly, unlike many wanna be restomods or hot rods or ricers, the power train on these two is very legit.

I have to clear the air my father who was Malties started lowriding w/ hydraulics on them rather than air shocks and shackles. My father's car club was called Las Estrellas back in the 70s I believe in Daly City California. He lived close to the SF airport and new the mechanics. He got the idea to transform the cars suspension from a old car that had a stock single hydraulic to lift car up from scraping in drive way. He went to the airport mechanics with the idea of using hydraulics from landing gear on plane. The mechanic laughed with amazement thinking it was crazy but would work. He gave him used equipment which was good from the plains along w/ instructions on hydraulics. He made it work for a while until the piston ripped off the and shot through the fender and into the air lol. He soon learned where to get the right sized equipment. With the help from his friend Robert from Low Creations who was the treasure of Las Estrellas at the time they started a new generation of car culture.
