    I've seen it a couple of times now, and goosebumps everytime. On Karsu's part it's the intensest of gradations of intenseness. Her relationship of over 12 years recently ended. She had the lyrics translated to Turkish especially for her and she gave it all she got. Goes to show that you do not really have to understand the language to feel the intention of the song.

      I was kind of meh until the second singer... She lived the song and not just sang it.

    • @Rosannasfriend
      @Rosannasfriend Před 2 lety +4

      KARSU is the second singer. She was outstanding the entire season, you might want to watch it. Very versatile artist that makes every song her own.

    • @kmkm8691
      @kmkm8691 Před 2 lety +3

      Turkish is her second language and that's what even makes her more incredible as she's not fluent that much in Turkish.

  • @kmkm8691
    @kmkm8691 Před 2 lety +3

    tears were dropping down my cheeks. Karsu sang in Turkish. And even though it was her second language, she absolutely felt the every single word of it. Passion, anger, beauty. I mean, just incredibly amazing. Belle's voice is angelic, passionate and you feel in your heart.. But the way Lara Fabian sings it,.... indescribable

    Great performance indeed. Maybe the ever best at Beste Zangers. Je suis malade, II am sick. Sick of a broken relation, still sick after 2 years. Very impressing performance, although i think in Turkish language Karfu was at her very best, and her Turkish language give her the opportunity to put all the emotions she had. A great performance perhaps with a lot of pain she still has somewhere.

    I don't know about Belle, but Karsu was in a lot of mental pain during this song as she still suffers from an ending of her 12 year relationship.

    This was in the last period of De Beste Zangers ..... they do duets . Many have been deeply impressed by their version of Je Suis Malade. Karsu is a very good singer anyway...... i love here .Karsu 's pain was real , before they performed she told a few times that she thought I can not do it .

      I agreed with you %100. I'm from Turkey and I just know two languages such as "Turkish and English." I can't speak French or understand too. However, this performance is so deep. So emotional and incredible.

  • @janetkarssen
    @janetkarssen Před 2 lety +11

    One of the other participants watching from the couch commented to Karsu "I hope he was watching!" I think that sums it up completely.

  • @serhatalbayoglu2740
    @serhatalbayoglu2740 Před 2 lety +1

    Karsu uses body language in such a way that even if you don't understand the language (Turkish) you get the feeling. She is well known for that. Here they sing Lara Fabian's Je suis malade. It means "I am sick". Note that they sang the song both in French and Turkish. That's why you see the facial expressions on Karsu. Karsu is our (Turkish people) shining star.
    Beste Zangers is a TV show bringing together 7 of the years most popular singers together where they sing to each other. Wonderful setup.! I suggest you search CZcams for Beste Zangers 2021 to get to know these super musicians as well as the orchestra there even though I will give you some links below from Beste Zangers 2021.
    Now a bit about both singers:
    KARSU :
    Karsu Dönmez was born on April 19, 1990 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as one of the two daughters of Turkish-origin mother Birgül and father Alpaslan Dönmez, who immigrated from the Karsu village of Hatay. When she was 8 years old, she decided to play the piano she had seen on TV. Her family first rented her a piano. When they saw that she loved music very much, they bought her a piano with the money they had saved to buy a car. Karsu, who went to America with a scholarship given by the American Embassy in the Netherlands, studied singing at the University of Rhode Island.
    Karsu started her active musical life at the age of 16 by playing the piano for the customers of her father's Kilim Restaurant in Amsterdam. Karsu, who attracted the attention of customers here, was greeted with interest and the number of people who came to listen to her increased. In the face of this situation, her family decided to rent a hall for Karsu. Thus, they would have given a concert in a large venue for those who wanted to listen to her. However, this account did not go as the Dönmez family thought. It was not possible to close the issue by giving a big concert at the request of those who wanted to watch Karsu. After this concert, Karsu began to receive offers from the most important stages and organizations of the world. She soon appeared on key stages from the Concertgebouw to the North Sea Jazz Festival and even New York's Carnegie Hall. There were those who said that when they closed their eyes and listened to her voice at her concerts, they thought they were listening to a giant jazz star in New Orleans. Most of the Karsu's following songs were from Beste Zangers 2021
    BELLE PEREZ:
    Belle Perez is one of Europe's few modern music icons. After tinkering with pop music in the early years of her career, Perez found her true calling in the 'Latino' style. Her decision to adopt a different style paved the way for many great pieces of music and helped win the appreciation of many music lovers. In just a few years Belle has managed to become a phenomenon in various parts of Europe, especially in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany. One of the reasons why she has such a large following in the region may be the influence of local European culture in her music. Many music lovers also praise Perez for choosing to do what she always believes in. In a career of little more than fifteen years, Perez chose to work on her always preferred musical style rather than compromising her taste for the sake of money. This Latino singer even managed to make waves in North American music circles thanks to her talent. She won a record-label contract and toured the area frequently. It is also believed to be a woman who, instead of being a stereotype, is constantly thinking about trying new adventures in the field of music.

    Great version, I have just seen Lara Fabians version and it is stunning. It is so hard to sing with so much emotion and not going over the top. To be honest I don't think it is a great song for a duet, I would rather have heard Karsu sing it as a solo. You really felt her pain and loss.
