Man, I'm glad the VC version of Crystal just lets you get Celebi, because that method to hatch it is insane
When you mentioned the egg Celebi, suddenly, a wave of memories of trying to pull it off when I was much younger surged. I pulled it off...but at what costs?
When I did the Celebi egg glitch I was prepared for the worst because the instructions I was following had a warning at the beginning about how this glitch could severely mess up my game and corrupt my file. I guess I was lucky though because afterwards the only thing that happened was that I couldn't talk to the daycare man anymore without my game freezing up. A glitch that could either be ignored or solved by starting a new game (after transferring the Celebi to my sister's game first of course and then trading it back to my own new game).
There is an easyar glitch than the egg glitch that yealds simeler results. And then sum. The coin case glitch
That Celebi glitch is absurdly long lmao. It sounds so convoluted it could be fake yet it’s real.😂 these were some really cool glitches tho! Can’t wait to see what glitches exist in the Gen 3 games

@@dudono1744 yep that one was wild,there was also a glitch in FRLG when you encounter one of the legendary dogs.If it used Roar (and escaped with it) it would forever be deleted from the save file
The fact that cloning/item cloning and the coin case glitch weren’t mentioned is astounding, those are two of my favorite glitches from Gen 2, there’s more than one way to get a shiny celebi ;)

Great Balls also didn't work, actually - they were worse than normal Poké Balls.

Gen 1 glitches: Bend the fabric of space and time to your will and have have anything you want.
Gen 2 glitches: Pokéballs do not work as intended.
Well, in the English translations of Gen 2, you are still welcome to warp reality with the coin case.
Question about the German pokemon crystal money glitch set up: if you are so early in the game to set up this glitch, how do you get enough money for all the pokeballs to fill your party and a whole box?
That would be at least 25 balls at 200 each equaling 5000 minimum and you only start with 3000.
You can grind the Berry trees from the first two routes. Is not fast but doable.

Stand on the corner and show some leg or spray fake fart spray into a bunch of bags, mail them out, and let other people be fooled with a note on it that says "free pleasant scent sample" when they open it up and then puke all over their couches.

I told myself, after hearing getting this Celebi by my own self, I went "That sounds great, how bad can the steps be?"

Sadly no, they don't pass the legality check.
Crystal is and will *always* be my most favorite Pokémon game 😊 the entirety of Generation II is really just so magical and nostalgic for me. Even now, at (almost 😐) 32 years old, I still love to play G/S/C here and there, and it always makes me feel like I'm 10 years old again, playing it at my grandma's house on the weekend lol. Man, I really miss those days... and I really miss my grandma 👵🏻
I used to play Blue when I was with my Grandma and Grandpa. They were really cool and they thought pokemon was neat. I miss them soo much.

I play Crystal all the time in the Virtual Console, to me is the best Pokémon game ever, it shows generation II were supposed to be the last Pokémon games ever, they were made with so much love!
I also applied a patch to Pokémon Red to make it look like generation II (full color, new sprites, EXP bar in battle, just cosmetic changes) and I'm loving it!

As cool as the celebi egg glitch is, it’s unnecessary now a days since the VC version of Crystal added the GS Ball.

I'm honestly surprised you didn't mention the Arbitrary Code Execution glitch. This glitch allows you to literally edit the games code and do anything you want. I knew about a few of these. I discovered the making your target Ditto glitch on my own. I learned a way to raise the Mew glitch mons to level 10, so Mew would know transform. I did this and tried to do the shiny transform glitch with Mew, but it ended up being a Ditto in my party. If anybody knows a workaround, I'd love to hear it.
Crap, I have the German versions of all Pokemon games. I should have known about the money glitch in Crystal sooner.
I remember being able to clone pokemon in my Crystal version, I was expecting this glitch to be on the list.
It's a pretty well known glitch. It's a little harder to pull off in Crystal than in Gold and Silver though. Also, Coin Case Glitch in Gold and Silver >>> All.
Why is it that they were so bad at programming everything correctly in the first two gens? Did they not have enough money to hire good people back then?
Tech less advanced, people spread thin (iirc they didnt have separate sprite artists, the programmers made the sprites at first), and less storage space. There were some bugs that they could have fixed back in gen 1 but there just wasn't any space left for the code to be implemented.
Game Freak were also under considerable time and budget constraints, to the point especially with gen 1 where they could barely afford to keep the lights on at times. Bug fixing wasn't exactly top priority.
In a way Pokemon's early development was pretty much an exercise in Murphy's law.
@NS 317 im gonna be honest, sega isn't my specialty so im not sure! But i think if the team had more cartridge space, gen 1 would have been more polished- there still would have been bugs, but they would have been able to patch out the ones they could. They had to cut a LOT of corners in making the original games, due to both technical and storage constraints. Thats why theres only like, 12 unique cries in gen 1.
I honestly think that early games are INCREDIBLE in how much they managed to fit into such limited technology and small storage space. It blows my mind that they were able to accomplish so much!! I think there's a genuine anthropology you could study from video games, from how they are made to how they are played!!!

1: Knew about all of this. I actually stumbled across the "other mons becoming Ditto" thing by accident when I was trying to catch a wild Fearow in Gen 1.
2: Oh, I knew about these. I love to joke about how Blaine would love the Moon Ball back then. You better have Burn Heal! Knew about the status conditions not working right there either.
3: Not only did I know about this one, I have had it work to my advantage when I played the VC release of Gold. It's part of why I was able to beat half of Lance's team with just my Stantler. The Dragonite half. Stantler might not have a big movepool back then, but Hypnosis and Nightmare can put in some good work when they need to.
4: It was like this in Gen 1 as well, which is where I've made the most use of it.
5: ...OK, _whoa._ That's a new one on me. That is _awesome!_
6: I think I've heard something to this effect. I have *got* to try it out.
7: Alright, this I've heard of. It's a cool little thing. Dragon Breath isn't the most helpful move overall, but still nice all the same.
8: Not sure if I knew this one and just mostly forgot it, or if I didn't know it but am just not too surprised. Wouldn't expect them to get something as complex as Sketch correct on the first try.
9: This I've heard about. Never tried it, personally.

It isn't possible unfortunately. Trips to Pokemon Bank from VC and Gen 5 are essentially one way forward.

these are just a small bit of glitches in gen 2 theres also a way to get all 3 starters force mons to be shiny and even permanently change pokemon to be celebi
That 'Celebi' could be any other Pokemon and get Pokemon moves that they otherwise may not be able to learn and how I was able to get Ho-oh Thunderbolt and Lugia Ice Beam before Crystal was released on the Virtual Console as well as level-up moves that are otherwise unavailable for some Pokemon due to not being able to otherwise obtain them at a low enough level. Also loved being able to get all 3 starters from the beginning. Really speeds up the team building.

For the level 1 to 100 glitch: there's no way that I'm aware of (without glitching) to get a Pokemon at level 1 in these games, since eggs hatch at level 5 and the lowest level in the wild is 2. Did I miss something?
Without a GameShark type of accessory, you would probably need to trigger a glitch to get a level 1 pokémon in GSC. I suppose you could transfer up a level 1 pokémon from a gen 1 game (you would probably need to use the Missingno glitch), then use the move slot glitch to change Missingno into an actual pokémon, then use the level 100 jump glitch. That's just a "maybe" though, never tried it myself.

The way you describe shiny Ditto glitch is missing out a huge part of detail, because the way you describe it, one can't even start this glitch properly, your video does show correct footage however; so for this glitch to work, 1st you need a shiny pokemon from gen 2(because shiny don't exist in gen 1), yes you will need a shiny to start, the guarantee encounter shiny Gyarados will do, but any shiny(whether lucky enough to encounter & catch one in the wild or any other way) will do, so like how you mentioned just a Regular Ditto, or somehow hacked a Mew out of gen 2 would not work, for this to work you need a shiny Ditto or Mew(but if you have a shiny Ditto already, then why are you wasting your time doing this glitch, so obviously you don't have those); also Sketch can't sketch Transform in gen 2, and Smeargle is a gen 2 pokemon that can't be trade back to gen 1, so Smeargle won't work, make sure to get the correct fact, please. Then you will need a gen 1 game(red, blue, yellow, yes this glitch require a gen 1 game only gen 2 game won't work) and the ability to trade, so if you don't have another gen 1 game or can't trade(no cable accessory whatever), this glitch can't continue. After all these, trade the shiny back to gen 1(has to be one that can go back to gen 1, newly introduced gen 2 pkm can't make it happen), when that shiny reached gen 1, it will look like its normal color, but when trade that one back to gen 2, it will be shiny again; since only Ditto & Mew knows Transform normally, you will need TM Mimic from gen 1 to teach to the shiny pkm you just traded back, so if you haven't reach the part of gen 1 game where you can get TM Mimic, or used up Mimic for another pkm already, forget it. So if all are smooth sailing at this point, feel free to teach mimic to your traded back shiny pkm(94% of pkm of gen 1 can learn TM Mimic, only 6 pkm cannot learn TM Mimic, for examply Magicarp can't learn Mimic but Gyarados could, also Ditto cannot learn Mimic either so a shiny Ditto...but again if you are doing this glitch that means...ok Ditto joke aside, so as long as your traded back shiny falls into those 94% this glitch can continue), now it's actually like your video said, encounter a wild Ditto, have your shiny pkm mimic Ditto's Transform, because how Mimic functions in gen 1, now your shiny will know Transform in this battle, Ditto will transform to you who has Transform as a move set, then Ditto has to Transform again, now it's a shiny Ditto(so if the Ditto just Transform to you while your move just said Mimic instead of Transform then the Ditto cannot Transform again, this is once again unsuccessful, so your shiny has to be faster than the Ditto you are going to catch, but if all steps are done correctly, it's actually not that hard despite all the possible failed part I mentioned, you should have a shiny Ditto) catch it, trade it to gen 2, you now have a shiny Ditto which you can do shiny breeding with and get pretty much all shiny pkm that's possible to be breed. This is actually one of the safe and useful glitch even safer than the cloning duplication glitch in my opinion.

@@ryanbowen4029 well, the love ball is suppose to work on pokémon whose gender is opposite to yours, a.k.a. that would fall in love with your pokémon and want to be with them. So if in gen 2 it only works with those who are the sane gender, then that means pokémon is gay.
Again, this was just a thought.

I used to have a Celebi in Soulsilver that I got thanks to the action replay but the Celebi mess up my game and made it freeze when I use celebi for an encounter so I eventually got rid of it by starting a new game and delete the other one so I wouldn't had to deal with the freezing again.

A few years ago I performed a glitch in pokemon silver in which upon leaving a pokemon at the daycare it would transform into celebi, just out of curiosity I left the red gyarados and the celebi turned out shiny. I don't remember how I did it but I still have that celebi in my cartridge (sorry about my english, not my first language)
