  • Time to start looking at the larger Makita 40v Grinders. In this one we look at the 7" Angle Grinders in both the XGT and LXT systems. As well as some brief comparisons with the 5" & 9" Grinders. I forgot to say it in the video, but I was cutting at full depth with the concrete blade to drain the batteries as fast as possible. The cut depth for both grinders was 50mm (2" )

On 5 vs 7" power, leverage is a helluva thing. You gotta pump up the juice in a 7" quite a bit just to match the pressure you'd be able to apply to a 5" because the lever end on a 5" is working so much less against the motor.

@Connah Jones Yes and no. The 9" is harder to stall than the 7" as it runs slower and produces more torque due to the different gearing.

11:00 wow i knew makita put tunes on their battery chargers but they really stepped it up with the grinders! much nice sound than cutting concrete :)

Another option, if you're on the LXT line, and want to slowly integrate into the 40v line, this is an option. I need another grinder, to lazy to keep swapping disks, and want a larger size ... This seems like a good option to get me to the XGT line. Thanks!

Good info & demo. The 125mm 5" Hikoki grinder did pretty good in your last vid & the Bluetooth battery is out now too. Thanks bro & stay safe with the Mrs. This Lockdown maybe different. 😅😥

Having bought the LXT 9" for $200 CAD, I have no regrets, especially seeing the XGT 9" is retailing for $400 CAD.

These are great, but they cant really substitute the corded makita 7 inch grinders. You usually use these big grinders when you need to cut a lot, and in that case, its better to set up a spot and pull a cord. Also corded versions are more powerful and dont stall as much. In fact im yet to stall any of my 9 and 7 inch grinders.

7 minutes doesnt sound like much but its a decent amount of work considering thats time pushing the grinder hard continuously.. especially if you consider most people will have a pile of batteries and a few chargers.. im cheap as can be and buy as few tools as possible and i still have enough batteries and chargers to keep me running continuously with my milwuakee 5" that gets fed 7" disks once you have two rapid chargers and atleast 3 decent size batteries its hard to run completely out of juice unless youre just going at a stack of steel or concrete for hours on end with no measuring, no prep, just cuttings

People that use grinders everyday are never going to run these battery grinders that’s for sure. Just so inefficient. I’d love to see AC v battery. No one seems do do it on CZcams.
Battery tools are so many times more expensive than AC but wages are reasonably stagnant compared to the cost of upgrading to battery tools. Go figure?
