In the 68-69 cup, I remember reading that in the 1/4 finals Benfica had beaten a team I knew nothing about, Ajax, in the1st leg in Amsterdam 3-1. I thought there goes Benfica to the semis....2weeks later I read that Ajaxhad wo'n the 2nd leg in Lisbon 3-1...what we call in french 'un match d'appui' had to be played. It took place in Paris, was televised and Ajax won 3-0....the Ajax legend was born...but they lost 4-1 to Milan AC in the final....they were my fav team for years...along with the Oranje...and of course Les Bleus.

La Máquina de River (Muñoz, Moreno, Pedernera, Labruna y Loustau) tenía mucha calidad, pero duró muy poco tiempo (he leído que sólo coincidieron en 18 partidos) y no se midió a equipos extranjeros. En todo caso incluiría un equipo extraordinario: el Borussia Mönchengladbach de los años setenta que ganó cinco Bundesligas y dos UEFAS, daba gusto verle, con media selección alemana (Bonhoff, Heynckes, Netzer, Wimmer, Vogts, el maravilloso danés Simonsen y su compatriota Jensen). Jugaban con una velocidad increíble, y con técnica.

No fue baile , independiente le generó situaciones de gol, falló en la definición, en avellaneda mereció ganar , el gol de Cruyff fue falta en ataque( en cancha de independiente) hoy lo hubieran anulado a través del var, después llegó un golazo de pancho sa , pero el rojo careció de definición cosa que al Ajax le sobraba.

Humbly I say Brazil lost their title decisively in '74, while the Dutch were unable to manage a game they had enough quality to win. I remember the 70's well. Another contributor says it perfectly: South American skill was no longer enough, team cohesiveness was necessary to overcome Total Football. Nethertheless, Argentina and W. Germany required home advantage to win in '74 and '78 respectively.
