This was a game I think on 75 anniversary of German football federation, and I am assuming that clubs were not obligated to release their players for such friendly games.. Note that Johan Neeskens who was also playing for Barca at that time is absent as well. If my recollection is wrong, then Cruyff must have been injured.

Other than those great Brazilian teams, I think these two teams from that era are the greatest of all time. German teams have been the most consistent teams since the 1950s, the Dutch, they were great in the 1970's but went flat in the 1980s, they had a bit of a resurgence in the 1990s and 2000s, and did well in the 2010s, but they never had the same caliber of a team that they had between 1974-78

Poland were pretty close too. Breitner and Beckenbauer both said they were the best in '74. Indeed statistically Poland had the best record - 6 wins (incl. against Argentina, Brazil, Italy + England in qualification), most goals (16!) and the top scorer (Lato). Deyna was rated 3rd best player behind Cruijf and Beckenbauer and Zmuda was voted best young player. Poland played Holland five times between 1969 and 1979 (Cruijf was in four of those games) - with 3 wins and just 1 defeat.
