    Ford needs to fight sanctioning body's in the dirt series to let the Ford guys run the 347 Ford crate motor. They have a GM dirt late model series with no Fords allowed even though Ford has a comparable crate motor. Also Ford needs to build a iron head 347 motor to race with the GM 602 crate motors. Disgusting to see so many racing series with not one Ford powered car in it. Come on Ford you can do it. 🤔 Maybe the predigest sanctioning bodies should state only GM supporters allowed to watch and participate..

    Why doesn't Ford get smart and offer a 4.125"x3.250" , 347 stroker? The small bore, big stroke has a gnarly rod angle and it shoves the wrist pin higher into the ring package.

    • @oneninerniner3427

      4.125" bore?
      Then you just go 3.4" crank = 363 cid.
      363 rod ratio is just fine at 1.59.
      Mahle makes a piston with rings that don't get into the piston pin....but that's not a big deal anyway. 347 "oil burner" reputation came from faulty, earlier design pistons and no oil ring supports for piston pin area.

      Race-prepped Cleveland heads on a Windsor block were the dominant engine in NASCAR for the Bill Elliott Years, The Cleveland was the dominant engine in the Woo until the brand X teams complained and those heads were and are still banned in the Woo sprint cars. Tony Stewarts Ford uses Elelbrock "Bob Glidden" Windsor inline valve heads

      Yep. Ford crate engine will use all Ford parts.
      I really wanted to buy the FRPP 363 crate engine, but the Z2 heads and the shorter cylinder sleeves in the Boss block convinced me to build my own 363.
      I used a Dart SHP block and AFR 195 Renegade heads for 584 HP/500 TRQ.

    Catching this well after the fact....has tis come to pass? Their website shows the same 351 based strokers they've had forever. It's getting hard to find a 351, they all seem to be strokers. Nothing against a stroker, but they are more expensive and having options is nice.

  • @Mike-FoxsAbroad

    Hopefully the piston bores will be longer in these new blocks or they will be a dud like the current blocks are. None of the serious engine builders like using them for this single reason.

      Prices are insane!!
      I just finished a 363 SBF build....it took A YEAR to get some of the parts, luckily my pricing didn't change.
      The Dart block, AFR heads, Mahle pistons, Callies crank and rods have all gone up SUBSTANTIALLY in the past 12 months.
      Crazy money to build a SBF pushrod stroker engine now.

      In 2014, it cost $13k to build my 351w from parts (carb to pan). That same motor would cost $17k now, even without the fancy new valve covers.

  • @richdouche8253
    @richdouche8253 Před rokem

    Ford should cast some more 302 and 351w blocks. All with roller lifter bosses and a little thicker cylinder walls so even with core shift they can all be eventually punched out to .060 over.
    Wrecking yards near me the blocks are really slim pickings. I should have snatched up a dozen of these blocks when they were plentiful in the scrap yards.

    Why would a crate engine come +.030? Aren't these new blocks?

    • @revanevan
      @revanevan  Před rokem

      It's done in order to increase displacement. The bigger the bore, the more clearance the intake valve has and that equals better flow and the opportunity to run bigger valves. Thanks for the question.

      @413x398 Před rokem

      @@revanevan You coulda just said "to unshroud the intake".

    • @jsimmonstx
      @jsimmonstx Před rokem

      Displacement is bore+stroke, and stroke is probably maxed out. I don't know how much more they can ore it out, but I'm guessing it can go another 0.030...

    • @oneninerniner3427
      @oneninerniner3427 Před rokem +1

      But really .030" isn't very much? .015" wall material removed in a circle. Big deal IMHO.

    • @oneninerniner3427
      @oneninerniner3427 Před rokem

      So normally a .030 overbore is just to true up worn cylinders. So that's giving the valves an actual .015" more clearance from the cylinder wall, that can't make much difference. If a cylinder could be bored a quarter or maybe even an eight inch would make a more noticable difference I would think. Yah know what I mean?
