As someone who lives in the Yorkshire Dales, I can confirm all our pubs are like this…..albeit minus the pentagrams 😂
The village that was the filming location for East Proctor isn’t actually in Yorkshire; it is in fact in Wales.
The scene at The Slaughtered Lamb features two sadly missed icons of British stage & screen; Brian Glover (the man telling the joke) & Rik Mayall (the chess player).
The initial attack on Jack & David was filmed in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Did you spot Frank Oz; the man behind Yoda, Fozzy Bear, Grover, Miss Piggy, Cookie Monster??? He was the US Embassy Official.
The films director, John Landis has a very brief cameo in the film. He’s the man who gets knocked through the glass window during the chaos in Piccadilly Circus.

Yes, there were porno theatres then in most major cities in UK and US! This was just at the start of the VHS revolution, and before about 1980 there was no other way to see such films unless you'd got hold of a little 8mm film reel and had a film projector. Most of the time these theatres were packed with single men, but sometimes couples went! You might remember the scene in Taxi Driver where Travis is socially clueless enough to bring Betsy to one and it doesn't go well! Back then though, public porno theatres were big business.

Feels weird to have to tell you this but, yes... places like Times Square in NY and Piccadilly Circus in London DID have porno houses. LOTS of them, actually. But the movie SEE YOU NEXT WEDNESDAY is an inside joke from the Director, John Landis, who hides that title in most of his films. (It's a billboard in The Blues Brothers, for example). It's NOT a porno, either - it was the name of Landis' college short film.

Top shelf of magazine racks would have Playboy, Hustler, Juggs and a dozen other magazines that high school boys would try to look at before the vendors shoo'd them away. Tony is right there were many places that showed porn movies 24/7 but many more theaters had midnight showings in rural parts of America so the farmers could wank one out too.

22:22 FUN FACT: Of all the times director John Landis worked with a British crew, this was the one time he had a communication problem.
He instructed the crew members to take the head and throw it onto the hood of the car, but all he got in reply were blank stares. So he repeated "I want you to take the head... and throw it onto the hood of the car", but still got the same reaction.
Landis then took the head prop, said "Watch" and threw it onto the hood. The crew's reaction was "...oh the bonnet! You want us to throw it on the bonnet! Why didn't you say so?"

Fun Fact: Mr. Collins is the one and only Frank Oz. Not only is he an actor and director, but is also a celebrated voice actor. Best known as the voice (and puppeteer) of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Yoda.
Director Cameo Fact: John Landis appears briefly near the end of the film. He is the bearded man who gets hit by a car and thrown through the plate glass window in Piccadilly Circus.
Practical Make-up Fact: Rick Baker (the winner of the very first Academy Award for Best Make-up that was created the year this movie came out) claimed to have been disappointed by the amount of time spent shooting the face changing shot for the transformation after having spent months working on the mechanism. John Landis only required one take lasting about seven seconds. Baker felt he had wasted his time until seeing the film with an audience that applauded during that one seven second shot.

The reason for all of the chaos during the climax at Piccadilly Circus is because David, being an American werewolf in London, is used to driving on the right side of the street, while Londoners are used to driving on the left side, so as David is rampaging through the streets of London he's causing all kinds of traffic accidents by being on the wrong side of the street. 😜

"Naked man. Naked man running through the forest. OMG I just saw his penis." 😂
And yes, there used to be those type of theaters all over. They became so come that they just kinda blend into the background. Other movies even have the in the background like Marty McFly skateboards past one on the way to school in the first Back to the Future.

The man who gets attacked in the Underground also played the tentacle headed minion of Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi. The running joke in John Landis films is the appearance of the phrase 'See you Next Wednesday' in all his films. In this case, it's the name of the porno film showing on the screen. There is an indirect sequel called An American Werewolf in Paris, but it is absolutely terrible 🤣.

Porno theaters were a real thing until the advent of home video and, eventually, the internet. The title of the porno movie, "See You Next Wednesday" is an inside joke. It originated from a line in "2001: A Space Odyssey". John Landis started sneaking it into his films, and others began using it as well. To date it's been spoken or seen in about three dozen movies and TV shows. By the way, though few seem interested in checking it out, I think you'd be impressed by the original "Invisible Man" from 1933.

Yes back in the day Porn theatres where a real thing, and Soho was full adult (sleazy) entertainment. None of trendy eating places and coffee shops like today. I have found most of the locations used. Only the outside of the cinema (it was the Eros cinema, 7 Shaftesbury Ave) was used the film was used anything inside was a set. The Eros closed on 14th Feb 1985 the final film shown apparently was Bolero. It was then converted into the Gap which was there until it closed in about 2020, it'd currently been redeveloped.

I'm going to over-share for a moment but when I visited London in 1985, I went to that porn theater in Piccadilly Circus. I was a fan of American Werewolf in London, having seen it when I first came out. So I knew I must look for that porn theater, and voila, it was a real place! This was back in the day before home computers ... right at the beginning of the home video explosion. So, porn theaters were still a thing back then!
