There are a total of 44 characters in this game. Goku and Vegeta make up over 1/4 of the roster with different variations. Plus throw in the fusions, it’s even more. They need to add some more diversity to the roster

Goku Black- is literally Zamasu in Goku’s body
Gogeta and Vegito- are fusions made up of Goku and Vegeta.
Fused Zamasu/ a fusion of Zamasu and Zamasu in Goku’s body(Goku Black)
So Black, fused Zamasu, Vegito and Gogeta do count as different variations of Goku, bc Goku helps make up their parts
They need to stop wasting character slots for transformations. 1. It takes up more slots. 2. It excludes forms. Like, we get Teen Gohan, but only his Super Saiyan 2 form? Frieza, and Cell, but only their Final Forms? Ridiculous.

When Bodukai Tenkaichi was released in ps2 it has over 100 character.
sure, that's a game made in the mid 2000s, and this is a game made in 2018. It takes a lot longer to animate each moveset for each character, with finishers and ultimates that look good in dragon ball fighterz, than in a game made in 2000s, which explains the much larger roster pool Bodukai Tenkaichi had.

Because each Goku version is different, Well to be fair, BT3 is the result of tge effort from BT2 and BT1, but still the Ultimate Dragon balm experience. Yeah, over 100 players but only about 20 playstyles, almost all the characters were just reckons with no variation in gameplay, this has over 40 unique characters with unique animations and gameplay styles, stop bitching

English voice actor for Goku had to do voices for 8 characters because their the same.
The Japanese voice actress for Goku had to do voices for 13 CHARACTERS because their the same plus voicing other characters with the same voice.
Geez give her a break.

Is because she doesn't only voice Goku and his variants, including Goku Black and the fusions Vegito and Gogeta, she also voices both of the Gohans, Bardock and Goten in Gotenks
She voices Goku and his Family which makes more sense than Sabat Voicing tons of Completly Unrelated Characters!

I think the main reason that Dragon Ball FighterZ has less characters and smaller roster than Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is that they focused in adding the most popular characters n choose to add the quality over quantity of the characters of DBZ besides most of the villains are dead anyways

Given the crazy price they're charging for this game with all the characters, it should have quality AND QUANTITY. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will kill this game soon.

A lot of the characters may be alternative forms of Goku and Vegeta but I’d say they really nailed this roster in the long run, we may not have Dbs heroes characters like beast gohan or even Good Majin android 21 but they really chose quality over quantity it’s not like Xv2 where it feels like WAY to many characters

I love this game's roster, is not as big as Budokai Tenkaichi 3, but is better selected imo.
I feel like there was no selection process with Budokai Tenkaichi 3 so I don't think the selection process can be ranked

@@CrispyCousy I completely agree with you. How can you say it's better selected when the only characters that Bodukai Tenkaichi 3 didn't have were the farmer with the shotgun and Buu's dog.
All in all this game's roster feels like a best of the Dragon Ball Franchise and that's what's cool about it even though they're missing Omega Shenron.
They even added, in my opinion, the best non-canon villains like Cooler, Janemba, and Baby.

I bought all the DLC but the only characters that I got were blue Goku and blue Vegeta and all the rest are gone. I don’t know where they are. I bought them, but they haven’t popped up since I bought them.

Blue Gogeta is half of Goku including the opening he’s Goku and a half, then there’s base, super, kid, half of Goku being Bardock, Blue, half of Goku being adult Gohan, Cell is part Goku, UI, Vegito and his opening, Gotenks is like one fourth Goku cause Goten is half of Goku, teen Gohan is half of Goku, Gogeta 4 is half plus Ssj4 Goku shows up too and then there’s Goku black and Fused zamasu making up another half of Goku. So about 19 Gokus by my count this includes fusions, blood relation and cutscenes

You unlock 3 of the characters the rest is dlc ssgss vegeta and goku can be unlocked via hard arcade mode or zeni. Android 21 if you beat the trash story mode and everyone else who is grayed out is dlc. SMH 😔

To even out the character select screen, on the top left side, I'd put Blue Evolution Vegeta, Piklon, Tapion, Supreme Kai of Time, Granola, Ultra Ego Vegta and Joco or Mr.Satan (as a joke character). In the middle between Gogeta 4, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Cell and Lab Coat Android 21, I'd put Omega Shenron. On the top right side, I'd put Toppo, Caulifla with Kale, one of the DBS Superhero Movie Characters, OG73 Absorbed Moro, Ribrianne with Kakunsa and Rozie, Strongest Warrior Gas and Bergamo with Basil and Lavender. Seven on the top of each side and one in the center to even the select screen out 'cause the select screen looks unfinished and too uneven.

This game is the worst DB game in my opinion (few characters, much DLC, no transformation which is the most basic mechanic that a DB game should have, awful story mode etc. ) But is a pretty good competitive fighting game

One of the worst Dragon Ball games. It forces the player to choose a 3x3 team, you can't transform, there are few characters(Mostly DBS-focused), and most are "popular" characters, just to sell more and have less effort to create a roster with at least 100 characters.Who would have thought that the day when we'd have to pay for DLC to play as base Goku would come? And not include Raditz but Videl? This game is a joke! Low effort cash grab!
Well it isnt a 3d arena fighter which means every character is (more) unique! The 3v3 thing is annoying (although you can fight 1v1 just with too little health) bzt videl is just as valid as radditz both are relavant for the beginning of their arcs but videl stays in the story!

Yes you can buy it on switch it has slightly worse graphics but is portable!
