SDS Plus Drill Bit Chuck Adapter to Convert Rotary Hammer into Drill Driver

  • With this SDS Plus drill bit chuck adapter you can transform your rotary hammer tool into a drill driver, ready to penetrate materials like wood, steel and plastic.
The smallest drill bit this SDS Plus chuck adapter can hold is 1.5mm ~ 0.059inch, and the biggest drill bit is 13mm ~ 0.511inch. You can use even bigger drill bits, as long as they have smaller base, just like I demonstrate in the video.
The kit comes in three pieces - the chuck itself; an SDS adapter, which screws-in the chuck; and a key, which is used to tighten the hold of the drill bits. Keep in mind that the screw, which is used to connect the SDS plus adapter to the drill chuck, has to be screwed in counterclockwise.
For best results when drilling into wood and steel using this chuck adapter, your rotary hammer needs to have a "drill only" option, just like my makita rotary hammer, which I used in the video.

Liked the fact that there is no audible narrative. I prefer just watching how you the adapter is used. Very clear and informative and compatible with a number of drill bits. Thank you for this useful vid.

I use one on an old rotary hammer , to mix tile glue and grout ,
The powerful motor on the hammer drill with the mixing drill bit , works better than the mixing drills they try and sell you in the tile shops

Just a little side note here. Tighten the sds plus chuck to the adjustable three-jaw chuck using a wrench as tight as you can by holding the adjustable chuck on vice grip or using lock plyer. Then screw in the small screw, the small screw only to prevent the sds chuck from unfasten by vibration as the thread is opposite from the sds chuck thread.

I have an old AEG 220V sds with the spline shank and an adapter cord to go to 120v but spline shanks are pricey and i usually don't need that big.. i got an sds spline to sds plus adapter but i rarely need a hammer drill or sds as a home owner.
I do have a corded makita regular hammer drill and my m12 hammer drill will do bits up to 1/2 on softer material like brick and concrete block.
I recently got a killer deal on an amazon promotion for a Vevor sds plus cordless hammer drill for $39.99 with 2 4amp hour batteries. Haven't tried it yet and a cordless sds with 2 batteries is insane. It would either have to be a scam or completely shit but it came in, it has weight to it and the batteries work.
Again i dont drill masonry often but between my cordless hammer deill. The vevor sds and my AEG corded rotory hammer drill im covered..
I dont need an adapter for this because i own a few cordless drills and IF i need to bore larger holes a lot of larger wood bits come in a hex shank.
I get the product demo but there's no reason to buy a drill chuck adapter for an sds unless you have an sds and IF you have an sds more than likely you have a drill.

The purpose of this chuck is so your sds rotary drill can use standard drill bits for wood and metal as well as hole saws etc. it’s not to be used in hammer mode. Those buts are cheaper and easier to acquire. I bought one so I could drill wood and steel work. It’s essentially turns your sds into a standard drill. My Milwaukee M12 sds rotary is the only drill I need now.
