once again with gorgeous control + breath work (plus that insane high note towards the end??). this one felt so raw & vulnerable-exactly how i feel the song should be sung. the "cold and broken"ness of the hallelujah was palpable through the screen. really beautiful work, colm
when I listen to Leonard Cohen's performance of this song, the impression I get is of grief that has almost healed. Whereas this one, the grief seems fresh, and that hit me right in my soul. These scars take time to heal.
This is a beautiful cover. Hallelujah is a song that needs to be truly genuine, or it comes off as fake, and this cover just works.
Also, the pure range, especially in the last chorus, was amazing
This cover genuinely gave me chills. My grandfather loved this song and recently passed away but I know he would have loved this.
