As a guinea pig parent (of 2), I'm sooooo stoked that the knowledge of them was immediately brought up once they were mentioned. Thank you Claye and Zeke for informing Alex (and the viewers); guinea pigs are seriously one of the most neglected animals due to the lack of information provided by pet shops etc.
(I could talk about piggies all day, one of my special interests!)
Sidenote, I saw Zeke tagged in a post on IG and when I clicked on his profile, I realised we have the same surname! It's an unusual surname (here at least) so that was a really cool discovery ☺️

Alex, just because YOU can't comprehend it doesn't mean that fast fashion isn't being thrown away and ending up in landfill. And that aside, people are against Shien hauls because they continue to use child labour, it's not just the environmental impacts people are against.
Your disconnect from reality is worrying, honestly.

She mentions that she has a house full of furniture back in Sydney, yet she's going shopping for new stuff. What's going to happen to the furniture there?
Even if she donates it, there's no guarantee it will all get bought and reused, unfortunately.
The best way to be sustainable is to reduce unnecessary consumption, whether new or second-hand.
@F C Exactly, and a lot of the stuff she left in Sydney and doesn't care about anymore were items she "loved so much" from past thrift hauls.
Buying from thrift stores isn't any more sustainable is 90% of what you buy is going to be discarded anyway.

She seems to have hoarder issue and I think she thinks moving away will solve everything when it'll all catch up eventually. She'll fill another place with stuff get overwhelmed and start all over again.
She’s literally shopping secondhand. You do realize that she literally has to FLY to Tasmania right??? Have you ever attempted to move a whole house full of big furniture that far away?
EDIT: I just looked it up and it’s an almost 24 hr drive there. (And I’m not even sure if you can take a standard car the whole way) Do you really expect her to make MULTIPLE 24 hour trips to haul furniture 24 hours away??? That’s literally insane. The amount of fuel she’d pollute the air with…. You guys talk about her buying furniture secondhand…. And then donating her own furniture…. WHERES THE ISSUE, I’M SORRY. And she already mentioned she doesn’t really purchase fast fashion. The only time she gets it is when she does sponsorships and even then she DESTROYS the brand by talking about cheap the clothing is, etc. These comments seem so unnecessary
Often things that people donate end up in landfill anyway! Rather than buying and then donating things, the best way to reduce our impact on the planet is to buy less things 😊
Things that aren’t purchased are usually bailed and shipped oversees for textile production.

So glad to see your new friends are setting limits and telling you no when you head off track. I know in a previous video, you said you had stopped taking a lot of your psych meds. You may want to rethink that decision and get some tests done. You obsess over some things and ignore others. I'm not trying to be mean or hurtful. Mental health is hard because your mind doesn't always tell you what is true. Please get yourself evaluated.

Schatz & Söhne was a German clock manufacture. They started under this name in 1923. They went bankrupt in 1986. Schatz also means treasure but in this case it was their last name. This one is from the 40s.
This is exactly the sort of shop that I love. I could cry. If someone took me there, I probably would.

I'm not sure if they still have big books like that dinosaur book at school libraries now, but when I saw it, it reminded me so much of my early years in primary school, because there were a number of big books like that in the library that couldn't be issued out because of how enormous they were.

I see that Alex is spending a lot of money to spend on things. There is no regard to prices and spending. It worries me and if I was a friend of hers I would encourage her to move away from buying things instead of encouraging her as she is the only one buying. I also think medications she has told us she is on such as antipsycotics should be closely monitored and may be not on the right one.
I love the sparkly purple cardigan thingy! That looks so cute. And seeing Tasmania, other that my mums friends would be way too far away, but my mum would love it there. She loves gardening and flowers and old furniture.

Really no point doing up a cute setting for pigeons, with the amount of poop they give out you would be scrubbing it all down daily if you wanted it to keep looking nice …when my fil was sick I looked after his 50 homing pigeons and OMFG the amount of poop was astonishing even when they were out flying for a while each day …..Natural branches and other items from nature put in their enclosure that can just be hosed off every few days would be my advice …..have a nice day 👍🇦🇺
Thank you, Zeke (sp?)! That hutch is not large enough for 2 guinea pigs and you can't keep them singly because they're very social animals. Please do much research before purchasing rodents; lots of the advertising in pet shops etc makes them out to exist in extremely small, cramped conditions, however guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, etc. all need much more space than Pets at Home says they do.
Also another Bernadette fan right here! Soooo jealous of the sewing machines! Also I love Arden's pointy nails (sorry, I don't know the name of the person with the dark hair and tartan dress!)

Couldn't agree more about the guinea pigs; I have two myself and it's devastating seeing how little information on them and other rodents are available (especially hamsters and degus too!). So glad Zeke and Claye were knowledgeable on them 😊
So happy to finally see people becoming more knowledgeable about keeping rodents! Even 10 years ago when I had Guinea pigs the way I kept them people considered them to be spoilt even tho I “only” kept them a bit above minimum space for the three I had….
Also have been watching Bernadette for multiple years now and the only thing I actually dislike about her is that she keeps single Guinea pigs which makes me sad because I can’t believe she doesn’t know they shouldn’t be alone :(

man I wish we had a shop like this near me. the thrift stores are always full of either the most boring old ppl clothes or seconhand shein and the furniture is incredibly just plain and boring, or if you go to a place that specializes in antiques it's all like designer or w/e or just overpriced. my partner and I went on a road trip in october and he took me to this little thrift store in a small town on our way there as a surprise bc he knows I love thrifting. I wasn't sure I'd like it much but I loved it and ended up buying a webkinz plushie that still had the tag?? I was able to use the code so now I have a lil horse webkinz 😭and also bought a deer ceramic music box and a little clear container that had mushrooms and flowers on the lid. I would've loved to buy more but I didn't wanna take up space in the car and there was some beautiful furniture I wish I could've brought home. wish that place was closer. I live in las vegas so a lot of stuff is very modern. I wouldn't dream of going back to my home town in oklahoma but man the thrift stores there were sooo cheap and you could've spotted some pretty cute finds without worrying so much about other young ppl who love vintage/cottagecore/coquette/etc snatching it up lol. like leave some for me pls I'm broke but cute things motivate me

The whole channel is giving huge manic episode vibes lately. I don't think this big move is a very good idea.
She needs help . I really do care about Alex but I can see her passing thru manic phases right now. Moving away from her hubby, her parents and other friends is not a good thing to do. I can no longer watch these videos because it saddens me to see her like this. I wish Alex the best and hope she finds her way.
@@debramcbride6711 she isn’t moving away from them to leave them, she’s going to a place she’s realised she loves. It’s not a crazy thing to leave the city, a place like Sydney, for a quieter life in a more rural area. Don’t u think if she could take every single person she cares about with her she would? Of course because they’re her family and friends but guess what grown ups often do move away from the place they were born, it is not abnormal. Alex has also said so many times she is HER again, it’s not a manic episode, she just finally feels like herself again, the her we clearly have never seen. Guess what you don’t know this person in real life. This is probably the first time we’ve ever been able to see the real full alex at every stage in her day, goung through every emotion that she does and dealing with things in her own way. She’s also said that is hurts her to read comments like these. I get it u may be worried but don’t try to tell someone that their happiness is mania and say it’s because you are worried. Alex has so many good people around her that would tell her if they were truly worried. Please just be happy that she is happy we all need to be more positive instead of looking for problems that aren’t there. If Alex says she is happy, we must take her word for it and trust that her many amazing friends and family would step in if she truly wasn’t❤ I may sound harsh, so I apologise, it is just bothering me to still see so many of these comments
As someone who recently visited Tasmania, I can concur that she is making a great choice. It broke my heart to have to go home again. If I had the money I would have stayed also. It’s such a wonderful place, and to still be in Australia but be immersed in so much beauty and nature if feels otherworldly. Then you search the real estate and it’s like a quarter the price of living anywhere else in Australia (which is becoming increasingly impossible to own your own home) so it’s like a dream come true! I’m am super jealous and as someone who has struggled with mental health also, Tasmania feels almost like a place of true healing.
The great box with wheels is a garden chair/ step for gardening as I have on in my shed Alex.

That place is cool but some of those prices seem like really high considering it's supposed to be a shop that's I'm guessing less nice than a traditional thrift.
I love that this video is just collecting bird things and trying to figure out how to use household items for birds.

Maybe consider including populations of tasmanian Nativehens and habitat reconstruction for the
Forty-spotted pardalote, as well as the invasive pet avian populations you will bring to the sanctuary. Then You could possibly get funding for the conservation efforts. Just think, they are trying to clone a tasmanian tiger and you could help restore the island to pre-convict contact conditions. The ecosystem chain will benefit from any level efforts.

probably because of all the people who are concerned about her- people started noticing that she unfollowed all of her Sydney friends and they all unfollowed her too, apart from Tiasha and Millie. She also unfollowed most of her Tasmania friends like Claye and i think Zeke? maybe a few others too, im not too familiar with that lot tbh. But yeah people started noticing all of this stuff going on and started questioning it and then she deleted her insta the other day- but shes still active on her pigeon account

Dropping of things you no longer want at a second hand shop is the norm here (unless you don't have a car or something then you can ask them to collect big furniture pieces etc) Are you telling me that concept is foreign to you?? Again. how do your second hand stores get their stuff then???
It is privately owned. In Australia overwhelmingly most are charity owned. And there are a large portion that do not take larger objects.

@@Cheshiregrinn91I don’t know how it works in other states but here is South Australia, it works by people dropping off donations. So yes people would deliver bags/boxes of clothing or items.
But we also have a lot of regulations about exactly what we’re allowed to sell in op shops.
I know in the one I was working in, we weren’t allowed to sell exercise equipment, or very large items. Anything that could be a heath hazard. Eg. No open bottles of things or anything like that.
(I haven’t watched the video in a while so don’t have context, but I hope this helped answer your question, sorry if it didn’t 😂)
I just want to add, it was a very small shop I worked in, so the exercise equipment and no large items rule could have just been because there was no space inside the store for them.
Also as the other person said. The stores are usually privately owned. Usually the store will be collecting money for a specific charity. Eg mine was a “Save the Children”, helping children across the world.
So they tend to mark the prices up a little, and a minority of the profit goes to the charity, they may take some for bills and rent those things. But the people working in them are usually volunteers.
Again, sorry if this wasn’t helpful, but hopefully I answered some of your questions.
