Aviary Birds/Finches Released in the Outdoor Aviary Part 1

Finally, the aviary birds and quails have been released back into the outdoor aviary. 2 lady Gouldian finches and 3 owl finches. Hope they enjoy their natural environment and show us some breeding behaviour. More birds will follow.

Haha die stomme kwartels, altijd als een raket tegen het plafon, altijd weer een stress momentje, ooit een gehad met een kapotte schedel na zo vrijlating. Mooie beelden zeg, wat voor camera gebruik jij?

Ja, meteen recht omhoog. Gelukkig waren ze ook weer binnen enkele minuten de oude en begonnen ze te scharrelen. Ik gebruik de Canon EOS 500D met 100-300mm lens voor de close ups en mijn mobieltjes voor de rest.

potting soil for the plants which I turn very often and replace half every year and sand which I scope out almost every week

To tell which owl finch is male or female is that on the males the black on top of there head goes back further and the big bar will have a bit that goes up in the middle thats for males

Mate the best way I have found to sex your double bars is the cock birds bars are wider than the bars on the hens. Today I had a flock of about fifty turn up for a free feed love watching them interacting with my birds through the wire. When I was a boy we use to see flocks with a couple hundred in the winter but not like that now.
